Took my family of 8 on a Sun. night. I called just 30 minutes before to ask for a table and was promptly reserved one. We come from CA and I lived in Japan for some time so we definitely knew our fish. The menu was extensive but more importantly the sequence of food came out in proper order. When we ordered additional appetizers, our love boat order was delayed to come out after. This may seem simple and mundane but you'd be surprised some restaurants just serve whatever is made when it's made. There's a clear order how food should come out so that diners can best enjoy them.
Our server was courteous and helpful. He made sure we knew the miso soups would come with some of our items so that we wouldn't over order. He also brought ice to cool down the soups for my kids without me prompting. Very thoughtful and thorough. We were the last party to leave the restaurant at closing time. I had to wait 30 minutes for my ride. They offered me to stay inside the restaurant even though all the servers have left except the two who closed up after me.
The uni and ikura are fresh, even fresher than some expensive CA restaurants. All other items are also good. Some stand outs are the octopus appetizer, takoyaki, salmon skin salad, yellowtail in ponzu, rainbow roll, and udon soup. Miso soup was light which I loved. Some restaurants in the US overdo miso soups making them salty and heavy. White miso soup is meant to be light. Shiki got it right. No real wasabi though but that's a hard one to get.
We'd definitely visit again when we're in the area. My two kiddos give...

Ordered pork potstickers, chicken teriyaki, an AAC roll and chirashi bowl with some green tea. Potstickers were the best part of the meal; tender filling with good flavor, well fried. The tea was loose leaf with some roasted rice, and also good.
The chirashi bowl was okay, but the sashimi was lower quality than I would have expected for a $27 dish. Overall I've paid less for much better bowls - though I'm willing to accept that the Tri-Cities will struggle to get the same quality of seafood as Seattle.
The AAC roll was not great, with the asparagus being woody and the rice being dry. Also, both the chirashi bowl and the roll came with some rather dried out ginger as a side, which was unappealing.
Lastly, the chicken teriyaki was nicely displayed on a sizzling metal plate. Unfortunately, the chicken was very barely grilled and yet was chewy in an unpleasant way. Not terribly flavorful; the vegetables it came with were more appetizing, but only in comparison.
Meanwhile, the service was tepid at best. Employees were available, but largely checked out without any evident passion for the work they were doing. Normally I'd care less, but again - paying a premium for a high end restaurant should come with high end service. I've had better service at the Dairy Queen.
At $70 for two people before tip, I would expect some of the better dining in the area. While you could do worse, you could also easily do better, even...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place. The atmosphere is very aesthetic and they have a good selection of menu items. My husband and I both got soups and salads with our meals. He got the onion mushroom soup and I had the miso soup, which both were very tasty. The ginger orange dressing on the salad was delicious. That's where the good list ends unfortunately. My husband ordered a grilled steak and shrimp combo hibachi which even though it was marinated it had very little flavor. The meat itself tasted like I had no seasoning and that it was watered down. I ordered the Sashimi Deluxe which came with 6 assorted slivers of different fish. The arrangement was gorgeous, however if you had blindfolded me and fed me the sashimi, I would have had not been able to distinguish which fish was which. It tasted as though the fish had been frozen and then washed out so much that any sort of flavor that was contained in the fish was gone. I had the unfortunate gag reflex of my body telling me this wasn't right and I should not eat it. And this is not the first time I've had Sashimi. I took the majority of it home and just to test it out I gave some to my cat who wanted nothing to do with it. I also gave some to my dog who reluctantly gnawed it down. She literally gave me the look of, "Mom, do I have to eat this?" I wish I knew whether it was the chefs' preparation or the quality of the ingredients that was at fault here. If this would get resolved, my husband and I would be more than happy to revisit this...
