MIGRAINE Sufferers BEWARE if your migraines are triggered by fragrance. They douse their rooms in fragrance. My migraine was triggered as soon as we walked in the room. We went down and asked if they had another room without any of the room deodorizing fragrance for those who suffer medical sensitivities to fragrances and they said no, they were all that way (kinda makes one wonder what smell they are attempting to hide). We opened the window as far as it would let us which is only 4"and turned the fan on high and left for dinner hoping it would decrease the severity when we got back. It didn't. There are no other Marriott hotels in this area so we were stuck here. Had the window open all night at 42° outside with fan on high just to attempt to not face an ER trip. Max meds taken to no avail.
We have been to Marriott's all over the country the last two years and never experienced this. It was horrible.
Then on top of that, we were told breakfast was served until 9:30a. We were down there shortly after 9a and the lady curtly stated, "we stop serving breakfast at 9a". Customer service obviously died with COVID because even though food was still out on carts she walked over to the cart and pulled it quickly into the back room.
This is not the level of service we expect from a hotel carrying the Marriott name. Needless to say, we will never be back to this hotel and will tell others to continue on to a different city or change brands for a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst, the good part: This hotel is just barely in OH at the stateline adjacent to Richmond IN and at the I-70 exit for US 40. When I have a choice, I prefer not to spend my money in Indiana. This hotel provides a decent place to stop while travelling through. I've stayed here before. Meets my basic criteria of cleanliness, a comfortable bed, working TV & WiFI, and acceptable breakfast.|The craziest thing was the new mini-fridge. First, I literally needed to get on my hands and knees to read the instructions and put my few items in it. It sits on the floor inside cabinetry. Then I found it has an "ON" button deep inside which lets it run for 2 hours! If you need to keep something cold all night, set your alarm to wake periodically to reset it. I knocked off a point for this stupidity.|I understand the value of energy conservation. But the hotel would have saved more energy by not running the electic waffle griddle hot all day. Here as in many hotels, "eco-friendly" seems to equate to minimizing labor costs: disposable plates and cups, not having cleaning staff turn off unused mini-fridges, less laundry washing. |One more point that may be relevant for others: There is a truckstop on the east side of the property, which...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was traveling cross country and needed a break in my drive. Fairfield Inn Richmond was the perfect location for that - right off the highway. I had a welcoming check-in and check-out with staff members. I booked the whirlpool suite and I enjoyed relaxing in the whirlpool in my room after a long day of traveling. I then slept so comfortably in the bed and the dark curtains allowed me to sleep in late. The Paul Mitchell body products were a luxurious treat for my shower, which had one of the bowed shower curtain rods for extra space! Before the next leg of the journey, I was thankful for the continental breakfast. I was impressed by the spread - the egg and cheese omelets and hot Canadian bacon were delicious in addition to the standard fare of bagels, pasties, yogurt, fruit, and a waffle maker. I liked the option to make a breakfast burrito with tortillas, shredded cheese, and salsa. There were easy grab and go options too, which I took for a morning snack for my drive. The lobby coffee was fresh. The pool looked clean and inviting, though I did not have time for it on my visit. This location had butterscotch candies and Jolly Ranchers at the desk instead of mints and I took one of each as I was...
