Originally I gave this hotel a one star review due to the incompetent front desk staff. Today, I give a one star due to the fact that despite we gave our contact information to the front desk manager and left messages for literally weeks requesting a response she never even bothered calling back to speak with us.
A little background. We had a reservation for a night due to a family event in ridgecrest. We ended up leaving late due to the unexpected death of a friend. We called letting them know we would be late. We later called again to give our estimated time of arrival, from the road. The woman at the front assured us it was not a problem. We arrived, after midnight, and there was a male employee at the counter named Johnathan.
Our paperwork and a room key was on the counter, and we were ready to go to sleep. He told my husband that he'd already closed out the rooms for the night and he could not give us a room. He then slid the paperwork off the counter and held the key to the room in his hand like we were going to try to take it.
It is now approaching 1am. We are tired, and still freshly grieving. My husband says fine, we'll just pay for a second night. Rent us the room for another day. Problem solved.
To which the front desk clerk advised he could not do that, check in time isn't until 3 pm tomorrow. My husband polietly asks to speak to the manager, and he's told the manager only works during the day Monday through Friday. We asked if there was anything we could do to get a room because we were tired and he told us to come back after 3pm.
Mind you, my husband's family lives in Ridgecrest. We stay in this particular hotel multiple times per year when visiting family. We're rewards members. He still refuses to contact a manager. He suggests we sleep in our vehicle. In the desert. In the summer. My husband never once raises his voice or acts upset even though he's incredibly frustrated.
I was already sad given the events of the day and now I just breakdown sobbing. I told him my friend just died and that's why we're late. It's late, we know we got here late and we did everything right by calling ahead not once but twice, and he clearly still had our paperwork put out with a key on the counter ready for our arrival. Why can't he just please give us a room? And he tells us only the manager can do that and he doesn't feel like calling her.
We promptly left and went directly across the street to the Marriott where they immediately gave us a room at now darn near 2am. When advised of what just happened across the way the staff was visibily appalled and offered us late check out so we could get rest.
The next day we returned to the clarion to speak to the manager during business hours. We were advised she was in a meeting. We left our name number for contact without any other information about it being a contact about a potential complaint. She never called. My husband left several more messages over the course of the next week or two and never received a call back or any attempt to make this right. The hotel literally could have taken the money for two nights knowing we were only going to be there a few hours, and instead of having a bit of compassion Johnathan chose to add to our burden. The complete lack of response from those in charge show us that the customers here do not matter to any of the staff.
We will never stay at this chain again and we have advised our family who lives in town of what happened and they are also horrified and will not recommend this place to any out of town visitors from here on. It's a shame because we had several happy holiday memories associated with this place but their customer service is so terrible it ruined any chance of me wanting to step foot in this...
Read moreThe Rooms are very outdated. Takes me back to the 1980's. They are also in a bit of disrepair. The pool is nice! The location is in the middle of town so there is fairly quick access to stores and some restaurants. The hotel is located in the village of Ridgecrest, CA. 93555. The locals seem to have some sort of unspoken rule about rolling up the sidewalks at about 8 PM. We found a nice place to eat that was still open at 8:00 PM. It was in Ridgecrest and about 1/2 mile from the hotel. I highly recommend that place! They had Great Food! Awesome Service! Huge Portions! A well rounded, wide variety of menu choices terrific prices and they are very quick at preparing and serving your orders. It is Somewhat sports themed and casual attire is acceptable. The place is called Schooners! Try to visit Schooners if your schedule permits. You can bring the entire family and they will all be satisfied. Back to the clarion hotel stay.... Because initially our stay in Ridgecrest was not part of our itinerary but rather an enroute decision. We searched online while on the road to make our hotel choice for that evenings stay. There were many available choices for us. Based on all the info we gathered by using Google Maps as the starting point for all of our research. We felt staying at the Clarion Hotel that evening was our best choice. After choosing the Clarion and seeing that we were only about 10 minutes away. We went there immediately intending to register with the front desk upon arrival. The front desk manager informed us that he is incapable of accommodating anybody that was not registered online previous to arriving at the hotel and although there was at least 50 available rooms that evening. He could not get us registered and set us up with a room. I also inquired about what the Clarion Hotel *Specifically the Ridgecrest CA 93555 Clarion Hotel webpage that was directly linked to Google Maps was advertising. Which was that they had rooms immediately available at that time and in bold lettering they also posted the specific price for the room. The front desk manager reiterated to me that without being preregistered he simply could do absolutely nothing for me but did assure me that they had no rooms ever for the price we read online and we were simply wrong or didn't understand what we read online. After some few more moments of inquiry's and receiving only a cold shoulder. The desk manager suggested that we should go outside to our car and call the clarion national number and make our reservation with them and then come back inside with the electronic receipt to show him. At which point he would get us a room key otherwise we should go seek lodging someplace else. Well I was ready to go by then but my other half preferred contacting clarion USA on the phone. I will cut this review short by saying that we finally did get a room there for the night. The cost was about $50 more than the advertised price plus we had to purchase a clarion membership or the room would have cost an additional $40. For the lousy treatment and average basic room at best and the headaches from dealing with their bait & switch tactics. I will never give clarion hotels the time of day ever again! What a bunch of heavy handed maneuvering charlatans! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY OR ENERGY ON THIS SELFISH EGOTISTICAL...
Read moreDo NOT book here if you have children. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had with a hotel. We were doing a family road trip to Arizona and stayed here for five nights. My in-laws had rotten food in their fridge, items in their sheets and their blankets, nothing was restocked (Kleenex, toilet paper, etc.) We did not complain. We had dirty floors with pieces of white food all over, our sink or tub didn't drain, and the bedding smelled foul. Again, we did not complain. Not ideal but do able! They have breakfast every morning, a heated pool for the kids, and a decent gym set up for my husband and I. To the point, our one and a half year old got sick two nights during our stay. The first night, gentleman at the desk was completely understanding. We cleaned up, he got us new bedding, assured us when we were apologetic because he has kids too! Amazing! Last night our son got sick at 3 AM. No one was at the desk to help with bedding or clean up. He puked on a pillow and pillow case and I cleaned it up with one towel. We were charged $250 to our account which we didn’t have in it so she charged $100. GM told me anytime they have to clean urine, feces, or vomit they charge this amount which is ridiculous because a person becoming sick is uncontrollable, especially a baby and the maids are cleaning toilets so doesn’t quite make sense to me. I was also told by GM that the only thing I could do is dispute with my bank which is dishonest and unfair. Management needs to be assessed. This is a joke. I will never stay here again. I called corporate and they said I have to handle the issue with the hotel itself which is futile. However, I will reiterate, thank you to the gentleman at the front desk who works nights. You were the highlight of our stay and your empathy is not overlooked and much appreciated!
Service is rated a three because of that experience with him!
