I travel to this area often and have stayed at this hotel before. The first visit was good, this one not so much. The first room on this visit was shockingly dirty, I've not had a dirty room in any Holiday Inn in any of the 5 states I cover across the midwest. I travel for work and typically spend 100 - 120 nights a year in a hotel, exclusively Holiday Inns. The furniture in the room had obviously not been wiped down in some time, the bathtub was dirty and the soap tray and other bathroom accessories had obviously not been cleaned well in a while. The floor had not been vacuumed and the bathroom floor was sticky and needed mopped a LONG time ago. I would expect somewhere that's 40/night - which is why I don't stay in those kind of hotels. I had to request a different room when I pulled back the blankets and found stains still on the sheets on both beds. Was moved to a second room, cleanliness was similar other than this one had fresh sheets. Nothing had been dusted or wiped down in a while other than surface things like the mirror. Front staff was courteous and friendly and gave me a $20 voucher toward food. A food voucher has no value as I'm a business traveler and expense my meals and I inquired if they could instead supply me with a drink voucher. They were out of drink vouchers but did give me a coupon for 1 free drink, again little to no value to me. I can walk across the street to Steve's Old Time Tap and have several drinks for less than what I would spend at the on site Bennigans even with the free one and Steve's has a decent atmosphere. I wasn't asking for anything free however since the initial voucher was offered the hotel staff should have made sure they made an equal trade in this scenario. I'm not saying I wouldn't stay at this property again however from other reviews I've read it appears that the customers here are expected to perform the quality control for housekeeping and I'm not interested in that. I've stayed many nights at the Holiday Inn on Elmore in Davenport and it has always been a first class experience for the same or similar money. As a suggestion - if someone has to change rooms because of an internal process issue with this property don't make them come back to the front desk. Take the keys for the new room to them, that would be showing an interest in high level client...
Read moreI have stayed at this hotel in June 2016 and again in December of 2016.
The visit in June 2016m was to visit my parents, esp. my dad who was dying and to say my goodbyes.
The visit in December of 2016 was to bury my dad.
My parents live at Friendship Manor in RI IL and this hotel is close to their place..
The first visit that I made was with my granddaughter and I for a 7 night stay. She is six years old. We had a blast at the hotel. The swimming pool was perfect and the room- two queen size beds was so comfortable.
Both stays, I might add, I wanted to steal the pillows.( I did not). They are just that comfy. My husband is a pillow snob and he loved the pillows.
The second stay was in December of 2016 to bury my dad. This visit was my husband and I.
On our recommendation, my younger brother also stayed at this hotel. My brother kept thanking me for advising him to stay there.
The only complaint in our 6 night stay was the fact that the TV would randomly go on btw 3:30-to 4:30 am. Not a consistent time any given morning and not every morning. Enough to be very annoying as my husband is one of those people who cant get back to sleep once he is woke up.
We would be watching the TV in the evening at a low volume and it would go on to the channel selection channel and be a lot louder than when we turned the tv off.
I however, do not have that issue.
We did talk to various staff about this issue and just got shrugged shoulders.
Understand that this hotel does not serve a complimentary breakfast ( except for Christmas morning). They do have a restaurant next door without going outside and a great pancake place a few blocks down from the hotel.
This hotel is downtown RI. There are some transients around. That being said, neither visit did I feel threatened.
On my visit in June, we would have to park in the parking ramp across the street, sometimes around midnight, with a 6 year old. We had no problems at all.
I love the beauty of the lobby. the ambience. A lot of business travelers stay at this hotel.
And, yes. I will stay there again when we go out to move my mom to be by the girls sometime this...
Read moreThe first thing I noticed was the bad smell when you walk into the lobby. In my experience with staying places on the road that's a bad sign. I was right. The staff at check-in was decent but when I got to my room I thought it was small. I said something about this but was told no the upgrade you paid for was to put you on a higher floor. It's a little quieter there. I thought I was paying for a larger room, at leased that was the way it looked while booking the hotel. I was told all the rooms were the same size. I had my wife and a 2 year old with me, we needed the extra room and quieter? did I mention I had my 2 year old with me?. I paid the extra only to find out that meant I took a longer elevator ride. Bottom line I felt like I was cheated a little bit, or at leased mislead. The next day I go down to get coffee and nope, no coffee. Had to get somebodies attention to put coffee out. Seemed like I offended that person or they didn't want to do it, not sure which. But come on, No coffee?? Oh as far as breakfast they give you a vouched for the restaurant worth 20 per room. no continental breakfast. My overall experience was not good, wasn't happy with the staff and the facility. We were there for a funerial so it wasn't a pleasant trip any way we cut it. But I count on at leased getting a decent hotel because that's the one thing that can make the trip better. The bed was comfortable and my room was clean but there is so much that goes into having a nice stay. Unfortunately they missed the mark for us. I was so unhappy with this hotel I packed my family and moved to another hotel. That next hotel met end exceeded my expectation's. When I travel I always write reviews about where I stay, I try to be honest and always give the benefit of the doubt. I was not happy at this hotel and I'm sure others...
