I have only been back in the USA after a 6 year leave of absence from Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, to Vienna, Austria, back here in the USA since November 2023 and Rock Island since February 2024, and I didn't get the Ebike until the end of April. Now with over 1000 miles I think I can say, text, post, that I think maybe I must have gotten a little spoiled by all the awesome public transportation, public parks and recreational areas in Vienna, Austria 🇦🇹. I'm glad to be back in the 🇺🇸 USA, don't get it wrong! but from my experience, we got some work to do here in America! People of Austria I met were always asking me why I came to Vienna Austria from the USA? Am I crazy? Am I wanted? Am I a criminal 🤔 😆 they all can't wait to finally come here! I told them I would ask you the same thing if I met you in the USA! I am grateful and glad that the Quad cities have actually finally attempted to add some of the more common comforts typically familiar and easily accessible and way more amazing in certain foreign countries where the people really seem to matter more than money and you can actually see it. It seems like more than 35 years I have been away from the Rock Island area, and now finally there seems to be some similar "want to be" recreational activitie areas being erected and constructed along the Mississippi and Schwiebert Riverfront Park is one of them! It even seems to have a name from Germany or Austria? but in my 6 years experience of Vienna, there is no contest in the comparison of the two. However, it is nice to see these upgraded and new additions to the public for the public! KEEP IT UP! They even have similar public bike repair stands in certain areas such as this one with cable connected tools in case someone has a bike that has an accident or issue in the area. The recent flood due to excessive rain and snow melt had everything in a mess for a few weeks, but all seems to be settling down now and all tje messes is being cleaned up and nearly back...
Read moreA quiet, comfortable way to spend a relaxing fall afternoon. I can only hope that the outdoor entertainment stage has some exceptional summer events, and does not sit idle. My wife is a shutterbug and took a good amount of pictures from every angle, in particular the maple trees which were turning the perfect color of fall. There is a small play area for the kids and there were many taking advantage of a perfect November...
Read moreStill my favorite place to go with my children. However, was disappointed how a couple parents were acting. This park sits on the waterfront they walked off numerous times leaving my husband and I as well as another couple to watch their handful of children who were infant to school aged. I'm thankful nothing happened to their children. I've even seen a few people there in the early morning looking as if they are showering in...
