Was staying at the Roadway Inn, but the nightly charge jumped up a good $30 for the next night, so I went looking for a cheaper motel room. Walah! 2 doors down is the “Brookside Motel”... seemed cute and quaint on the outside... wellllll I definitely should have listened to the other reviews on this one. Let me start off with the positives... it was a cottage they offered that has its own little porch... that’s pretty cool idk, not traditional I was okay with that... the room is small but the sheets are clean, pillows are clean, rug seems fairly new... Notice a strong smell, a glade plug in is in the wall... ok... that’s nice but, I can’t help but think, what are you hiding? I’m okay with a small room and older stuff, you get what you pay for type of thing...
Here’s the negative. NON-REFUNDABLE!!! I suggest you ask to view the room they are going to put you in before you make your payment, to avoid fighting with them for a refund later. They refunded us once we said the magic words “health department” though.
The bathroom is the bad part. Tiny shower stall that’s pretty dark, so if you’re claustrophobic at all, the shower won’t be the most comfortable time for you. The ceiling is where it gets crazy. It’s literally sagging so low a tall person might hit their head, and there’s a large crack accompanied by some nice rot holes, only to be painted over and re-exposed over and over again, because they haven’t fixed it? I hope they do realize the roof is going to cave in on someone one of these days... it’s not safe. Not ALL of the rooms/cottages are like this. I looked at the neighbor cottage because the people staying there let me inside, and it had a smaller bathroom, but it seemed to be ok. I would have considered staying there a bit more seriously had I had an option as such, but they refused to switch my room unless I “payed more for the upgraded room.” I told the woman there’s no way I’m paying any more money for any room in this whole place. (the room came to $88 and honestly nothing there is worth much more than that.)
I ended up leaving the Brookside to go pay more and stay at the Roadway Inn again instead because I honestly did not feel safe in the room they put me in. My boyfriend started not feeling well after walking in and we only sat there (in and outside because I couldn’t stand the overwhelming smell of glade plug in) for an hour and a half, and then later demanded a refund. They tried to play games and argue about it but eventually they caved in.
They’re pretty shifty in a sense, but nice when they’re trying to take your money. The woman was clearly irritated by us wanting a refund. We were trying to be nice but they refused to offer another room and neither of us really wanted to or felt comfortable staying there.
Another positive side is the pool. Looks nice and clean, outside pool furniture out of date.
Property has grills for guests of the motel to use.
It’s not the worst thing but buyer definitely beware. Check your room before you confirm payment!!!! I cannot stress...
Read moreDisgusting dirty rooms.... Broken soda machine that they NEVER fill... Owned by an Indian family that does the minimal work needed to run a place... And if you give them the chance will say you didn't pay just to get more money out of you. I sent my fiance down to pay one day when we had the flu and at noon they were calling for a payment when we tried to explain that we had already paid the elderly woman and asked them to watch the cameras back they refused and told us that if we didn't pay again they would throw us out. At the time we had been staying there for several months and were paying daily (65+ tax at the time) and still they said if we didn't pay AGAIN they would throw us out and call the police... At this point I was in tears but I was too sick to argue it was winter time and snowing and we had NO WHERE to go they knew that and fully took advantage of it. The EXACT same thing happened to a very close friend of ours... And they too double paid. Also everyone that was staying there was complaining of getting Ill all of us were constantly sick.... The rooms smell damp and moldy... And quite frankly the place should be shut down... Terrible terrible place.... Terrible management... Dirty rooms... And out here it has a VERY BAD REPUTATION for drug dealers... pimps and prostitutes... And of course the usual police raids.... IF I WERE YOU I'D STAY AWAY!!! I was paying 350$ a week for one dirty room with 2 beds I left and now have a cleaner 2 bed room cottage in a MUCH BETTER MUCH QUIETER place.... Save your money and go elsewhere there are MUCH better...
Read moreEXTREMELY RUDE, MONEY GRUBBING, THREATENING, INVASIVE MANAGEMENT! If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My fiance and I stayed there in one of the rooms for three weeks. Management was knocking on our door every day from 7 am to 11 am on the hour every hour demanding that we either give them cash on the spot for the room or they would call police. Twice we gave them cash and did not receive a receipt only to be bullied and threatened into paying for the room a second time. Since then we demanded receipts for our payments in which the woman who manages the place would continue to attempt to accuse us of not paying for our room. Any time we would have visitors even if only for 5 minutes we would immediately get a call from the woman demanding to know exactly when our guests were leaving and we were continuously harassed about having to pay extra money for guests. Which none of our visitors ever stayed the night. The management is beyond rude and invasive! They constantly threatened us with calling authorities even though we would pay for our room without fail every single day. The management was increasingly rude from the very beginning. They act more like money grubbing slum lords rather than hotel/motel owners. I've stayed at countless hotels throughout my life and have NEVER EVER been treated like those people treated myself and my fiance. DO NOT STAY AT...
