Two different stay, in March/August 2022. First stay great, second stay horrible, and I don't plan on going back to Motel 6 for any reason whatsoever.
March, 2022: Room was clean, customer service was spot on, and other than some distant traffic, everything was quiet. I felt safe there. Stayed two nights, and unfortunately, on the first night, I became really sick, and ended up making a mess in the bed. Went downstairs at 3am and the gentleman at the desk gave me a sheet that I could use to sleep on the floor until housekeeping arrived the next morning to bring me some clean bed sheets. That morning, everyone was helpful and really understanding. I received new sheets, was able to remake the bed myself, and got rid of the soiled ones per housekeeping's instructions. That night, things were so much better, and when I left in the morning I felt so relieved that I'd been able to enjoy my stay away from home, even though the circumstances keeping me there were less than ideal. I stripped the bed and piled my dirty things by the door, as I learned to do when I did housekeeping in my teen years. I made sure to thank everyone at checkout for all of their help.
August, 2022: Similar home situation, but this time I only needed to be away for one night instead of two. Due to my positive experience previously, I knew exactly where to go. I booked a room, received a confirmation call, and arrived only to find out that there was no reservation for me under my name. The clerk did some digging, and discovered I was on a "Do Not Book" list. Someone had put notes into the computer that, during my last visit, I'd left the bed soiled and the room a mess. When I tried to tell the clerk this wasn't true, she wouldn't hear of it, insisting there was no way to change the notes about me. She decided she'd let me have the room, but wouldn't get in touch with her manager about my situation. I was supposed to accept her kindness and not question anything. Her indifference left me hurt and shamed, since there were other people in the lobby waiting to check in who could hear our entire exchange.
I attempted to respond to the "How did we do?" prompt at the end of my visit in order to speak to someone; no one ever called me back. I also filed a complaint with Motel 6 corporate, but no one ever got back to me or followed up with me on that complaint, either. It doesn't seem that anyone is interested in listening to the customer, or hearing me out as I try to set the record straight. And since that's the case, I'm not interested in giving them my...
Read moreI reserved the room online for two nights. The day of the check in I came at 4:30 pm to check in and I was told by Jesse that my room is not ready. I asked for a non-smoking room and Jesse told me that they will call me (On my cell) very soon to come and check in. I left and haven't heard back from anyone until I was back around 10:30 pm. Then there was a super long line of people who were waiting for service. Jesse was there and another guy with a name tag that says Abs. I reminded Jesse who I was and he apologized for not getting back to me. He then gave me a key to the room. I asked him if there was free wifi in the rooms and he told me that no, I need to pay for it. I asked to pay for it, and he said that he can't help me anymore because he is not even suppose to be there (shift was over). This was in the middle of trying to check me in. I went to the assigned room and it was smoking room. I called to the front desk where Abs answered the phone and said please wait. I waited 5 minutes, until I hunted up and went to the front dest. The line was now a bit shorter, with only 4 costumers in line. I told Abs that I would like to go home and to get reimbursed for my money (2 nights). He told me he can't reimburse me and he will look if he has a non smoking room for me shortly. After taking care of another two costumers in line he then found me a (last) room available that was non smoking. I asked to pay for internet connection and I did. He then gave me the password and I went to the room. The room had a bad smell (like it used to be a smoking room) and all the furniture dated and gross. The towels were stained, and some had black human hair when I unfolded them. It was absolutely disgusting. Then the internet (Even tough I paid for it) was at very low connection and was so bad that it was faster for me to shut off my Wifi option on my phone, so my cellular service will take over. On top of that there were ants coming out of the baseboard in the shower. The floor was sticky and the toilet seat was super small. The bathroom door was once busted and the repair was not done professionally (You can check it for yourself room number 145). The second night the people above us made tons of drawing furniture around. In short, this was disgusting. I haven't traveled for a while, and have decided to give Motel 6 a chance since my experience using Motel 6 in the past were very nice. From now on however I will never use Motel 6 again. It's a...
Read moreThe location was fine, but that's where it ends. Our ADA accessible room was barely large enough for my power wheelchair to maneuver to an outlet for charging. The bathroom and shower had no grab bars at all. Trying to lean on the sink for support while washing was a bad idea since the sink (with no counter at all) was was separating from the wall and had several layers of epoxy to demonstrate that this is an ongoing problem. (I took photos of the toiled, sink, and shower area.) Because there was no counter in the bathroom, we had to keep our toiletries on the tiny half-table inside the room. This meant that while grooming we were unable to close the bathroom door. This created an uncomfortable situation when I couldn't let my brother into the room while I was dressing. The room he and our friend shared had a broken toilet and the TV's reception was less than satisfactory. When he tried to access the onscreen guide, the signal disappeared, and he didn't get the same channels we got. Neither room received housekeeping services during our stay. The beds exacerbated back pain, and there was no storage beyond the hanger rack in the bathroom and the half-table against the wall.
On our check-out day, we requested a later checkout, which we did receive. However, while we were zipping our luggage at least ten minutes ahead of the later checkout time, a staff member banged on our door and shouted: "Time to leave now!"
We were visiting for our son's wedding. There was a lot of activity during our stay. We tried to call the office to request extra pillows, but we had no response. Finally my husband (Donald) went to the office to request them in person. They were only able to supply one pillow.
The accessibility issue is one of my greatest concerns. It's a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act to present a room with no grab bars in the bathroom or room to maneuver a wheelchair as being wheelchair accessible. Why are you doing this? I found myself longing for a public bathroom so I could get up from the toilet without fear of falling on my face.
We typically don't make a big fuss over things, but we stretched our budget as far as possible for our once-in-a-lifetime family event! I wish we had requested at least a partial refund at the end of our stay. I'm formally making that request now. There's no excuse for this. When describing our experience, I call the room "the gulag" -- no...
