We ended up here on New Years Day after a Delta flight cancellation due to a maintenance issue. Delta sent us to Windward Passage which had no rooms available, so we were scrambling on our own to find some place to stay, with no help from Delta, and finding every hotel was full. The bellman at Windward called this place and got us and 3 other couples rooms, which we were grateful for. The area looked sketchy when we were pulling in. It was around 6:30 pm and dark out. We took the room because we feared it was all we could get and it was better than sleeping on the street. It was $166. Anyway the lady that checked us in was pleasant even though she had just dealt with some very high maintenance people from our flight that checked in ahead of us, so kudos to her. I would have lost it after dealing with them. ||||The room was large, but basic. It had a sort of beat up kitchen and the bathroom had seen better days. The living room was ok, with a couch a chair, a full dining table and a tv from 1990, but the dish network and the wifi worked well. The bedroom was large but the mattress appeared to be plastic wrapped which was off putting and made a lot of noise every time we moved. The place was relatively clean. The AC worked well. The louvered windows were weird. Basically, this place needs some updates, but the area is so questionable, perhaps they feel it isn't worth dumping the money into. The pool area is fairly nice although we obviously didn't use it. There is no restaurant on site, so we had to walk down the side street, past the gas station and across the street to a strip mall that had a Mexican restaurant and a hookah lounge. We opted for the hookah lounge. I didn't feel safe walking to or from dinner after dark and that was before the multiple gun shots we heard outside the hotel at 4 am, but you gotta eat. At 5:45 the next morning, 8 of us were trying to get out of this place to meet our cab and get the hell off St. Thomas, but we appeared to be locked in. The door to the lobby which is the main exit was locked. All gates to the outside were locked with chains and heavy duty locks. We finally found and exit to the outside in a corner of the second floor. I almost had a meltdown thinking I would have to spend another minute at this place.||||All in all, I would never choose to stay here, too dated and basic, and the area is really sketchy (although I later googled it to see where we exactly were and we were very close to Havensight, so probably ok during the day). It beat sleeping on the street and being closer to the gunshots though, which is where we would have been if we relied on Delta to place us in a room, so I am giving it a 3 because the lady at check in was helpful, the pool area was nice, and the alternative of sleeping on the street would be somewhat worse. If you are looking for sort of clean, basic, fairly spacious accommodations and are cool with nearby gun fire, this...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel with my family in mid August 2016 and my stay was rather plesant. The rooms are designed like apartments with full kitchen, dinning table, balcony and full bathrooms. The apartment comes with its own dishes, pots and utensils. The appliances were up to date and in good condition. For the rate that I paid the room was worth the stay. Dislikes: No welcome amenities, housekeeping comes EVERYDAY to you room whether your there or not (they help themselves in and clean around your personal items. No safe in the room, the bathroom sink faucet leaks due to corrosion, no phone in room (had to use my cell phone to call front desk), was charged $15 for a roll away bed to be added to my room even after my son was the one who lift it up the stairs. I had no idea that pool towels was available for the guest until 4 days into my week stay then a waiver needed to be sign for each towel in case it wasn't returned to the front desk. If you like to sleep in don't book a room close to housekeeping storage/lounge area THEY TALK LOUD! On Sunday's a church service is held in one of the ground level rooms (yes you read this correctly) and it goes on until early afternoon. The nearest supermarket PUEBLO is expensive as hell and no other options was given by the front desk agent. We found a gas station/ mini mart/ restaurant that have decent prices that we mainly used as well as K Mart which was latterly across the street from the hotel. Other than that I had a great time with my family throughout my stay, we had a ball and made the...
Read moreThis hotel may not be fancy and luxurious, but the rooms are comfortable and spacious.|If you ever have to ride out a hurricane, this is the place to be. Rooms flooded during Hurricane Irma but the building, roof, and generator stood strong. After the hurricane, the owner, general manager, and staff went out of their ways to clean up and dry out. They are the nicest people you could meet. We cannot thank them enough for making the hotel our home until the evacuation ship arrived.|We will go back to this hotel in better days for the island. We will support them as they supported us.|If you don't need a luxurious place to stay, consider this hotel. The beds are comfortable. Having a kitchen is a plus. The location is great - near Havensight, Yacht Haven Grand and Charlotte Amalie. The hotel is tucked away behind a Pueblo supermarket. If you are skittish at night, take a cab back after dinner. |Again, a nice place to stay run by the...
