I should have left up my original review as a starting point. That review revolved around the toxic and rude behavior of Sherri, front desk. And I took it down bc her boss begged me to do so despite the fact that I clearly stated I wanted an apology from Sherri. (Who still took every opportunity to be rude thereafter)
So skipping to the last day of my stay, which was for business but unfortunately I ended up with COVID during my stay instead. All day the hotel was loud, multiple things between housekeeping, dogs barking/crying and I didn’t complain. It’s not something anyone can really do much about. I also noticed at one point my TV changed from my name to “Allison”. So I called the front desk to ensure my room was not checked out. Sherri answered of course and very condescendingly told me that I’d been there a few days so no I wasn’t checked out. Idk wth that meant but she further said it was a tv system issue. I said ok. Well housekeeping knocks not once but twice. I was sick in bed so I scramble to put clothes on but they walk away. I get back in bed. Now they knock again and also open the door. I was pretty annoyed. I said I have DND on the door! When I talk to the housekeeper she confirms my suspicions that I was checked out according to her paperwork and that the mysterious Allison had been checked in. So, the day goes on and now it’s check in time. The true insanity that is guests that have zero respect for others or common sense is baffling. The group of 4 adults in the hallway loudly chatting for 20 min, the parents hollering to their kids and allowing them to run down the halls, it’s all insane. But what could I really do? At one point or another a group check into the hotel above me. It’s clearly adults. Again with the loud voices but also slamming and I mean slamming stuff, like they might have rearranged furniture and the stomping. It was insane. I call the front desk and it pretty quickly stopped. Just for sake of storytelling I’ll mention the women that paced beneath my second story window with two small barking dogs. I know. It was still daylight. And they were dogs outside. What could I do? So eventually she leaves and it’s about 7pm and a family with two small children check into the room that I share an adjoining door with. It’s currently 10pm and I’m still listening to screaming, crying, jumping, and running. Now I can assure you I’m no one’s favorite here but I tried to call the front desk and have done so on repeat now, bc I’m not able to sleep anyways, and she either lets it ring out or she answers and hangs up on me. Amazing. It’s 1015pm and I have to leave in just a few hours to go to the airport. On apparently zero sleep.
I should add that I work in healthcare in a 100% travel position. I’ve heard a lot of things and over the past year I’ve prob had to call down a noise complaint twice. I think only one time did that actually result in a positive outcome.
The first issue I had with Sherri was just an overwhelming lack of decency. Her boss called me and did a decent job of understanding and apologizing. I particularly liked the spin she put on being in her role and really caring about the guest and the guest experience. Maybe share that with the person working right now that has hung up on me four times and let it ring out at least three? Maybe share that with security? Perhaps you should hire security? It’s not okay to allow families to completely disrupt other travelers. At some point it turns into an appropriate time to be quiet, and like me or not, you still have to deal with it. It’s 10pm! After all the noise and bad behavior, NOW - it’s appropriate for me to be frustrated. But now, your front desk has decided I’m no longer a worthy enough guest to answer the phone. You deserve this review and it will...
Read moreFirst time ever having stayed overnight in Salem (lived not too far away for over 30 years), but had occasion to stay overnight for a nearby wedding while back in town visiting.
As with my prior Home2Suites experiences elsewhere (often stay at Hilton properties as a long-time HHonors member), we found both our rooms to be spotless, so clean and tidy, with comfortable, very clean beds, and fully stocked mini-kitchens, including decent dishware and silverware, and a nice cooking pot and pan (so many places use garbage pans... not this place).
Service was friendly and efficient from check-in to check-out. There was a service team member spot-cleaning what appeared to be even the smallest spots or smudges on room doors when we arrived. The hallways carpets were notably stained and appeared dirty, but it was pouring down rain outside, so who knows how much was tracked in before they had time to clean it... but no off odors or offensive smells.
We were pleasantly surprised at how new it looked, and it's an eco-friendly hotel, as well. Includes phone chargers built-in (older, Type A, but nice to be available).
One issue was that they're using sheets (SO soft and comfortable!) that were really too small for the queen- and king-sized comforters commonly used on hotels these days. Since they commonly wash only the sheets and those wavy covers that overlap the reused comforters, it's important that the sheets fully cover the comforters, given that the comforters are generally not washed between each guest's stay.
It's kind of gross if the sheets are too narrow to cover the width of the comforter, potentially exposing the guest to touching the comforter that other guests have likely touched between washings. It was a minor thing, but important enough that, had we been staying for more than one night, we'd have asked to have newly laundered comforters provided, rather than having to make sure the smaller top sheets properly covered as much as possible, for sanitary reasons.
One odd thing, if I'm being blunt, the walls are quite thin!! My family next door could hear me talking in a low voice on the phone - couldn't make out the conversation, but could easily hear someone next door talking. A bit odd, and unusual for most quality hotels.
Would definitely stay here again, though,...
Read moreI recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at a hotel that not only failed to meet my expectations but also left me feeling violated and distressed. My stay at this establishment was marred by a shocking incident in which some of my belongings mysteriously disappeared from my room.
First and foremost, let me emphasize that the overall ambiance of the hotel was quite pleasing. The lobby was elegant, and the staff seemed courteous upon check-in. However, things took a drastic turn for the worse once I entered my room.
Upon arriving in my room, I noticed that it was neat and well-maintained. However, my satisfaction was short-lived when I realized that a few of my items including cash were nowhere to be found. Shocked and alarmed, I immediately contacted the front desk to report the theft.
The hotel staff's response to this incident was utterly disappointing. They appeared uninterested and unhelpful, and it was evident that they were reluctant to take any responsibility for the theft that occurred within their premises. Despite filing a formal complaint and involving local authorities, there was no effort made by the hotel to assist in resolving the matter.
In addition to the theft, I found the overall cleanliness of the hotel to be subpar, with some areas showing signs of neglect.
In conclusion, my stay at this hotel was nothing short of a nightmare. The theft of my belongings, combined with the hotel's lack of accountability and security measures, has left me deeply dissatisfied and distressed. I would strongly advise potential guests to exercise extreme caution when considering this establishment, as it failed to provide the basic safety and security one expects from a reputable hotel. My experience here was one I will not soon forget, but for all the...
