Momiji Sushi Restaurant - Hawthorne — Restaurant in Salem

First I want to say I normally like Momiji. All in all this was an OK experience but there were a couple of fails on this experience for me. Maybe I'm just remembering poorly but it was more expensive than I was expecting. I planned to buy 1.5 rolls /person but my son and I were both still hungry and had to order a 4th. This made the meal a bit pricy (over $20/ea with tip) for what it is... Even though delicious.

My biggest complaint was the music. Somebody should have control of what the background music playing is other than a teenager in the kitchen. It went betwen heavy / death metal and some other genre I can't recall but that wasn't the right vibe and it was too loud. Just was a distraction from an otherwise nice restaurant. Get that fixed and this is an overall good place to go if you are OK...

So this is my first Momiji review and if it was based on past experience, it would be 5 stars x 4, unfortunately this is not the current case. Stopped in today for lunch at Hawthorne as we have done many times, today we were going to sit outside , so we ordered and went to the patio, what we ended up getting was a bag TO GO, wasn't the plan though. So we decided just go home, getting home we were greeted with 3 of our favs. Spicy Yellowtail, Blossom and a Caterpillar Roll all of them as small as they could be, usually my wife is a 2 bites on a Blossom, these were so small one did it. I wish I would have looked before we left, because I would have stopped at our go to Momiji spot on Silverton Rd. just to buy the same order for a visual comparison. Momiji's will always be the go to, but Hawthorne...

This is the 1st time we have tried Momiji's and I can tell you we Will NEVER Come back! We have waited for over an hour for food for a 6 items. The restaurant is NOT BUSY total of maybe 15 people. 2 parties of 6 not together. We arrived at 7pm and ordered the other part of 6 showed up around 730pm received their food within 15-20 mins regular items off the menu. 2 other couples arrived and were seated ordered and received their food as well in 15mins We had to cancel our appetizers at 810. We got 1 plate of 4 rolls and then about 10 mins later we got 2 entires chicken. The guy that sat us and took our order was nice and the girl that brought out our food was a little snotty girl.
