I made a reservation by phone with Lisa on 5/20 to arrive at the hotel in about 2 hours. The price she gave for the room was $169.00. I asked if they gave military discounts and she said no, but she would give us a senior discount. She called me back twice to get more info for the reservation like our home address and confirm my credit card info. When we arrived, she had left for the night. There were 2 women behind the counter. I think 1 of them said her name was Christy or Christina or something like that. I didn't get the dark haired woman's name. They told me that this was Lisa's first reservation and she gave me the wrong price for the room. The room was $220.00 for the night. I asked if they could cancel my reservation because that was mire than I was willing to spend. They told me my card had already been charged and they were unable to reverse it at this point. They said something about not being able to refund it if the room wasn't rented by anyone else by 3am. So, basically, I'm stuck with the overcharge whether I take the room or not. It was explained that rooms in this area typically go for more so I was lucky to get this price at all. I was passing through on this night so their comment about me being lucky to get such a great rate for the area meant nothing. All I knew was that i agreed over the phone to $169 and I was being forced to take the room for $60 more. We stayed in the room. It was nice. Clean and comfortable. I was so upset about the turn of events at the counter that I cried and could hardly sleep. These women were rude & uppity with me. They were not helpful and seemed downright indifferent to the fact I was visibly upset. The next morning, my husband spoke with the manager. He had heard our story already and had already adjusted the room rate to the $169.00 rate. With tax etc. It came to $187.40. We were grateful for his help with this and proceeded to check out. Later that day, I checked my bank account and saw that I had been charged twice. $320.40 + $220.40! That's $540.80 in charges! I know weekend transactions can take until Tuesdays so I tried to wait & enjoy my vacation even though my account is now overdrawn so I have no money available to so anything. This morning, Tuesday, I check and the $320.40 charge remains on my account (still pending). I'm pretty damn upset about this whole experience with Best Western! From my first in person contact with the 2 women at the counter to the incorrect charges made to my account, it's been a terrible experience for my husband and I. It's nearly ruined our vacation as there are activities we have had to cancel because our money has been tied up in Best Western's mistakes. I will not be using any Best Western facility again and I plan to express my dissatisfaction to my friends, family and acquaintances. I wish I had never...
Read moreThis place had a great staff and good breakfast This is why the 2 stars. Place was clean and comfortable until you sleep. I don’t like to be a pest but today a business like this is aware of bed bugs and how to prevent them. Any hotel today should have some kind of bed bug protocol. Weekly inspections, this will minimize the spread of bed bugs and they would have minimal out of pocket expense for treatments.
I know what to look for and had a job near by for a few days. Day one I sleep with the window open and only had a few hours of sleep woke up with an itch. I looked at the bed and nothing so I let it go thinking mosquitos we worked the next couple of days and again only slept a few hours at a time and one or two more bites between shifts and again dismissed to mosquitos. Because we were tired we decided to stay one last night to drive home safe.
Well the next morning I have a few more bites on my arms have breakfast pay my bill and as I’m walking out my finger starts to itch and at this point I knew it wasn’t mosquitos.
I went back to my room 208 FYI and took the bead completely apart.
To no surprise there they were not a couple not a few but a but load off them. At this point is where I got upset and went to the manager. If I would have seen a couple here and there and not months and months and month 8 plus months of neglect I would have let it go and just notified them to fix the issue. But this was months in the making. I’m sure I’m not the only one that complained about bites in this room.
My point here is not to trash the hotel. Staff management and the overall stay was good. My issue is neglect by management that’s not an excuse. I’m glad I found this out before I left as I had to make sure I do t take any home with me so I washed all my stuff before going home this way 10 months from now I don’t have to spend thousands of dollars treating my house for for bed bugs.
Monitoring costs pennies glue boards that attract bedbugs, weekly inspections by management and when you find them don’t dismiss it, take care of it ASAP so people don’t stop coming.
My opinion of you come to this hotel or any hotel for that matter. Remove the head board from the wall and inspect there check the mattress and seams from the sheets and comforter it’s as easy as one two three. I got lazy and didn’t do this it’s my fault for getting the bites but the managements fault for not...
Read moreI work at night and sleep during the day, so I called ahead and requested early check in. They said it would be fine since they had plenty of unsold rooms the night before. When I arrived the manager, Daniel Ho, said that they would need to charge me a $55 early check in fee. I asked if they could waive the fee as the hotel was only at about 25% capacity the previous night (meaning they had most of the rooms sitting empty, making the hotel no money) and I would only need the room until 5pm anyway. It’s also worth mentioning that I am a diamond loyalty member with them. He said he couldn’t work with me because ‘They don’t have cleaning staff at 5pm and he couldn’t resell the room.’ He eventually agreed to a $40 fee to check in early. I agreed and went to bed. When I got up, I chose to keep the key in case I needed the room the next morning after work (which is fine because I paid for the entire night PLUS the early check in fee) but as I was walking out the door, Mona - the cleaning woman/front desk attendant was on her way to clean my “empty” room to resell it... despite ‘not having cleaning staff available ‘ being the reason given for the extra charge. I followed her to the front desk to explain the situation and told her I may still need the room, unless they are willing to remove the charge, to which she argued, claiming they were going to charge me for a ‘second’ night if I didn’t check out now. (Keep in mind I’ve been in the hotel for about 14 hours and have paid for the full current night plus a $40 early check in fee) I asked to speak to a manager. She became belligerent and refused, and even reset the hotel key system to lock me out from returning to my room. It wasn’t until I threatened legal action that Mona actually called Daniel Ho, the manager. He reluctantly agreed to refund the early check in fee and proceeded to resell the room.
I share this because I want people to know the crooked and immoral practices that the management of this hotel engages in. They lied to a loyal and frequent customer of their brand to get a full nights fare plus an unnecessary fee, and then kicked that customer out during the time they just paid for, in order to sell the room twice for the same night. Even if you don’t work at night, management that would cheat me like this will cheat you just as quickly in any way they can if they see a profit in it. Take my advice. Stay...
