Traveling from coast to coast with 2 toddlers, a dog and cat- we really needed somewhere to relax before hitting our next stop. This resort was the epitome of hospitality.
Once we arrived we were greeted by the extremely helpful, friendly and fast service with our valet Nashone Epps, she took the time to help me get my stuff together for the kids and assisted me several evenings with my cars and even at the front desk! The staff here is incredible, The entire stay they has gone above and beyond expectation. They all seem to genuinely enjoy being here and it doesn't seem forced. Texas hospitality at its finest.
We requested a patio room next to an exit for our old dog to relieve herself outside, I was pleasantly surprised they honored all requests and even gave us the extra items I requested inside the room. Housekeeping has been so accommodating with my requests about cleaning the room at specific times because of the kids/pets who keep a small area so busy/messy even if we haven't been in the room often. We have had to call maintenance once and they were so fast! I even had some odd requests in the middle of the night and the front end staff goes above and beyond to ensure we are comfortable. The rooms are set for an upgrade, but with that aside, the accommodations are clean and show wear of a normal family/pet friendly resort. There is free laundry on site- detergent etc available at the general store. I do wish the laundry had the phone notifications/timers to let you know when your laundry was done...it was far from our room so it was quite the trek to just check when it was done.
The resort itself is family friendly in the best possible way. From the daily activities, the pool/lazy river, park, free kids bikes - to the daily smores in the evening; my kids 2 & 1 have absolutely loved their stay here. We could have easily stayed on property for the duration of the stay and would have no reason to leave. We did have time to utilize the windflower spa and 2 of the 3 -9 hole golf courses. The spa itself is beautiful, and the staff was so kind and attentive. It has a lap pool, hot tub, jacuzzi, steam and sauna room. They provide small snacks, water/coffee/tea/mimosas. My SIL and I did 4 services each with the groupon- Pedicure, Massage, Body Scrub and Facial. Marianne who did my pedicure was wonderful. If I were to rebook, we would only go back for the massage- Deep Tissue with Martin and Relaxation with Jared- the rest you could find off property for a better price/experience.
The golf course pro shop is well stocked and efficient, the greens are beautiful. We have eaten at the springhill cafe, charlies and the pool side restaurants- some reviews were mixed on the food- while they are resort prices, the food was good-not as terrible as I had expected but nothing to write home about -and again the service- fantastic every time. We have ordered Uber Eats/Doordash from several places off property and they were so fast- you can tell a lot of people use the services so its nice to know the staff is well seasoned getting the food to you quickly.
I would highly suggest using points/cc points to get a room here, makes the price more manageable- but even if you didn't, the amount of amenities/hospitality is worth the stay if you don't plan to leave the resort. I do think this is more of a family resort and wouldn't book it if we didn't have our kids with us. If you're looking for a more adult friendly, quiet atmosphere, and don't want kids running and giggling/dogs barking when you walk down the halls at all hours of the day, this is not your stay. Its very odd when people expect quiet from a very family/pet friendly resort- just not realistic! With that being said, Our entire hall had pets and dogs- once in our room we didn't hear anything at all.
Overall, great stay, will come back when we are in the area! Mahalo Hyatt...
Read moreDominic was incredibly helpful! He helped us with our bags, showed us to our room, and offered some friendly advice on things to do in San Antonio! I’m really looking forward to the rest of our stay - because the beginning was exceptionally great!
Update now that our stay has ended: There was some type of (fire) drill our first night, which resulted in an alarm going off around midnight. It truly sounded like it was saying, "There is a fun-related emergency," so we were really confused at first. It woke us up, so we quickly we went down the stairs to get outside to the completely pitch black grounds with hundreds of other guests carrying sleeping children. We eventually chose to walk around to the front because no staff member was in site to tell anyone what was going on. When we got up there, everyone was going back in - again, no staff. We asked the valet what happened since no one was there to ask, and he said his guess was that a smoke alarm went off. We never found out what happened.
The hotel rooms are dated (they're currently renovating though, so I doubt this will be a problem next year), and in need of a little pick me up. The back of our remote control didn't latch on (more annoying than anything), and our room wasn't quite as clean as one would have hoped. Our coffee maker had the previous guest's coffee in it and our shower had hair in it - but one call to the front desk, and that was all fixed immediately.
Which brings me to the staff - they are INCREDIBLE! If you want it and ask for it, they will absolutely find a way to get it to you.
The grounds are glorious! The lazy river was wonderful, the pools were great, and Antler's Lodge was so good, we ate there twice during our stay. We didn't try the slide, but we saw tons of families using it - and it looked like fun! There are towel stations that require your room key all around the pools, which was very convenient! We didn't use the golf course, but we saw TONS of people having a great time out there. We also saw deer on our first and second nights, which was an unexpected surprise! The pools are covered by trees, which is awesome for fair-skinned people, though you should definitely still wear sunscreen!
The only things that could have been better were: (1) the adults only aspect of the adults only pool isn't enforced. While it's posted on both sides of the pool and hot tub area that it's adults only, there were elementary aged children in the pool with their families. The staff that were serving drinks and food saw them, but didn't say anything, so I don't think it's enforced; and (2) the hot tub had bird poo floating in it, which can make people really sick. The hot tub is outside where there are birds, so it's to be expected that it may get dirty from time to time, but because of the size of the hot tub, it's not super noticeable at first unless it's right by the stairs - so it's worth taking a look before you get in. We also were at the pool A LOT, and we never saw anyone clean it out, so we didn't get back in the hot tub after the first time. That said, the pools seemed to be cleaned out every morning, so I am guessing they are cleaned out overnight.
Finally, I attended a conference while we were here, and the conference rooms are great! There is plenty of space, and the staff is super helpful. The food is also quite good! :)
All in all, I'd...
Read moreDirty rooms & Rude front desk staff. What more can you ask for! As for the "experience" well here goes. Requested early check in over the phone and when we arrived at 2ish we were told that room would not be ready until 4. So we got to stand there with all the event guests who were drunk in the lobby until they finally figured out the room was in fact ready as requested. Only figured it out AFTER I went up there and had housekeeping manager open up the room to take a look. No apologies nothing. The next day I was locked out of my room at 10:00 pm due to a cc payment problem on Hyatts side The "trainee" lady at the front desk spoke to me like I was a deadbeat and was extremely condescending and rude. Rude to the point I had to ask her to stop and confront her over her tone. Very embarrassing and a shame to be spoken to like that as a high paying / return customer. Apparently if they cant run your credit card for everything you purchase there under the "put it on the room" guise they will lock you out of your room no matter what the time or circumstance. All they had to do was resubmit charge and it was fine. I asked why they would lock my family (with very young children) out of the GOVERNORS SUITE @ that hour of the night and "trainee" told me they tried to call my cell 4 times and it was not her fault my credit card was not working. Did I have any missed calls??? NOPE! She flat out lied to me. Said they also called the room that I was locked out of. So if they did good on them. BTW, they run your card for the full stay when you get there. So I don't even know why they were running my card when we were putting the charges for everything on the room #. Whatever, I would be fine with a technical issue and understanding but the way it was put to me was shameful and a great way to ruin future business. Hyatt has a real problem at that front desk and I hope they fix it. As for the facility/rooms, pictures are worth a thousand words and can be summed up with a single word, GROSS! Stained carpets and stained furniture. Rowdy and very drunk guests from a business event ruined our first evening there. Pool and pool staff were great. They have it right out there and the waiters are great even while running around all day in 100 degree heat. Andrew @ Maudes was excellent and empathetic to us due to the out of control business event. Pool and Andrew salvaged the trip that we were about to bail on. That is about it. For the big $$$ this is a pass for sure. ...
