We stumbled upon this establishment by Google. I asked "Best chicken fried chicken steaks for breakfast near me" and Springhouse Cafe came up top of the list. So I told my we were going somewhere new and she was excited about it! So, upon pulling up to the entrance there is a check-in point with security. I was confused and puzzled at the same time. When I pulled up the young lady asked me what was my reservation or room number. I simply replied all we want is to eat some good breakfast and Google leads us this way! She said your in luck cause today we are open to the public! That was meant to be! Very clean establishment, with many beautiful natural trees. We walked the hotel lobby and it was warm and cozy. The decor is very well organized and beautiful. The common area was welcoming and cozy. The server Julie was very helpful and pleasant. She did give us a few recommendations and did ask about the country fried chicken steak, however, their menu had changed and Google had not updated that part. I was a little disappointed. Furthermore, it was okay. We decided to with the steak and eggs. I am going to seem biased when I say this. Cause of the establishment and the mixed ethnicity I was seeing I was very skeptical about how the food was going to taste. Surprisingly the food had amazing flavor and the steak was tender and cooked perfectly along with the steak being well seasoned. My mom and I shared the plate cause we don't eat that much. She added a side of scrambled eggs. She was very surprised and loved them. "She said these are far most the best eggs she has eaten in a restaurant" So overall Springhouse Cafe's hospitality and our server Julie were a great experience. To the cooks in the kitchen thank you all for making the food so amazing! I would only recommend one thing, call before going if you are only going to eat there to see if it's open to the...
Read moreWe were excited to have the prime rib buffet but we were disappointed. We were seated down and waited for our server for 10 mins . We then asked someone else if we can go get food so we got up . It all looked good but there were flies on most of the food items . We managed to get some items off the hot area . The Brussels sprouts were the best . Carrots and mash potatoes. We both had prime rib . It was salty and not tender. There was a salad bar but there were flies all over the toppings . The dessert area looked good too but flies all over them . Honestly we should've just not eaten there but we were hungry and most locations had a wait. We sat back down and server came 30 mins later . The sodas were flat . The table next to us were also waiting for the server . Saw her once and then was gone . The staff seemed to be running around. It was a busy night . I could tell my husband didn't like his food because he only had one plate. I tried the fish and it was bland. The oven roasted chicken was dry and bland . Our server finally came around after asking where she was and the table next to us was also waiting . She said here's your ticket, I'll be gone for a while and left , we waited a bit and no one else in sight . Just an overall...
Read moreIt is one of the best hotel restaurants I have eaten in. The breakfast Chicken Fried Steak, Texas Eggs Benedict, and Two Eggs Scrambeled were great. The Texas Eggs Benedict, with my newly found Pulled Brisket, was one of the best breakfast dishes I ever had. The biskets were the best I ever had. Lots of bests here.
The dinner selections of Asada Backed Potato and Pulled Pork Sandwich were amazing. Both were some of the best I have had. Prices were very reasonable for a luxury resort.
The atmosphere was very rustic nature. The views of oak groves, like in rooms as well, made me feel relaxed and enveloped in South Texas natural splendor.
Trudy, who has been a server here for the last 25 years, is exceptional and very helpful in food selection and explaining the amenities the hotel has to offer.
Overall, like the Hyatt Hill Country Resort resort itself, Springhouse Cafe is a must try while visiting...
