I really wanted to like this place, but it was a continuous disappointment. I would not stay here again or recommend anyone do so.
PROS: No bed bugs. That's important. Good shower pressure House keeping is super friendly and helpful Great location - close to the mall, airport, and lots of restaurants Price. This is the main reason we stayed here. It's low for a reason.
CONS: TERRIBLE linens, towels, and especially pillows. We ended up buying some pillows and towels from Target. It was that bad. We also needed 2 blankets because they are so thin and useless. It seems like they found the absolute cheapest version of each thing - tiny, scratchy towels that don't dry you off, pillows that are basically an empty sack with a couple cotton balls, you get the idea. The "soap". I don't know where to start on this. Instead of providing bars of soap and little shampoo bottles, this place has 2 soap dispensers like you'd see at a public bathroom: one by the sink and one in the shower. It's labeled as for "body and hair shampoo". The stuff makes no sense and doesn't work well for either purpose. Very strange. Super old analogue microwave No coffee machine The rooms are TINY. Like slightly bigger than a walk-in closet. It's super claustrophobic - it's basically the bed and bathroom with no breathing room. The bathroom sink is a tiny vanity with no room for stuff. The ice machine is outside with no cover, so when it's raining you will get very wet. No food/snacks/hygiene stuff/etc. on premises. There is a soda can vending machine that was empty for our entire stay. The doors are horrible. You wouldn't normally think about doors, but ours was a big problem. It had no seal, so light, smoke, and cold air were constantly seeping in. Our door also didn't close properly. If you wanted the door to stay closed, you have to either slam it or pull on it with your full body weight. It was very easy to forget and have it swing open in the middle of the night. We were very worried about leaving for the day and having the door not stay closed.
All in all, the Bayhill Inn was a place to sleep out of the cold and rain, so it served that purpose. It definitely was not a fun stay and made a difficult trip a lot worse. If you are desperate for somewhere to stay and can't afford anywhere else, it's probably the cheapest place with...
Read moreI would love to be able to review the Bayhill Inn in full, but unfortunately I didn't make it past the front desk. I had a confirmed reservation that I booked through Expedia, but when I arrived at the hotel at 11pm, I was informed by the man at the front desk that they had given away my room because I hadn't checked in by 6PM. What hotel cancels a reservation for not checking in by 6PM!? This directly contradicted the confirmation email I received stating that checkin closes at midnight. When I pointed this out to him, he stated that it was because they didn't have my credit card information. True! Because I booked it through Expedia! Why would you have my credit card information!? Even so, nowhere on my confirmation email OR when trying to book a new room does it EVER say anything about a 6PM check in deadline. When I pointed this out, the front desk clerk simply shrugged and said there are plenty of other hotels in the area.||||To quote the great Jerry Seinfeld: "See, you know how to take the reservation, you just don't know how to hold the reservation and that's really the most important part of the reservation, the holding. Anybody can just take them."||||Fortunately Expedia was able to find me accommodations elsewhere, otherwise I would have been out on the street for the night. Stay away, do not book. This place is shady shady shady. There are plenty of hotels in the area that know how to actually hold a...
Read moreI stayed here about 5 years ago and although well used at the time, the managers did a fine job of keeping this older Motel, one that dates back to the days when El Camino Real was US 101 and the Bayshore freeway was US 101 BYP, (1940's - 50's? ) in good to very good shape. I planned to stay at this location again if the need arose.||My son and I stayed again in October 2018 and I was pleased to see that the entire operation had undergone a facelift. The rooms are after all, Motel rooms so they will be small by modern standards but, the bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. The bathroom was completely redone with quality materials and I was impressed.||Due to limited space of the Motels footprint, management has done the best they can to accommodate parking and, I believe have succeeded. The main issue with parking complaints and damage probably centers around the fact that people, in general, just don't center their cars in parking spots-anywhere. This makes proper spacing a bit tough, that's on us, not the establishment.||Overall, considering that corporate hotels in the area are over $300 for a place to spend the night, this fine Motel from a different era fits well for the smart traveler and still continues to fulfill the mission of the "Motor Hotel" to provide weary travelers a simple place to rest for the night at a...
