There was a catastrophic break down in communication on my reservation. I reserved two room that were connecting with a microwave and to be close to the elevators. I made these requests months in advance, then followed up on the requests 6 weeks prior then 3 days prior. The first time I was informed that it was too far out to guarantee anything, but they will make notes. The second time I was informed that there should not be a problem and we'll make note on the reservation. The third time I called to confirm that my requests will still be met I was told yes, we have you covered, we look forward to having you. When I arrived to check into my rooms I was informed that I did not have connecting rooms and they were all out of microwaves. I then asked are my rooms near the elevators and was told not really. When I was brought up to my room, I found that I was in the direct middle of the two sets of elevators. Needless to say I was a bit miffed. Once my stuff was safely in one of the room, I went down to speak to a manager. Linda pulled me out of line to help me and I explained my situation and she went off to get a manager. I believe the managers name was Benny, he seemed to be very rushed and it's to be expected so I assumed I was going to have to give him a piece of my mind and was ready to do it with extreme prejudice. I calmly explained the situation to him and next thing I know the Linda is hunting down a staff microwave, a porter was being hailed to move me into two rooms with balconies and king beds that were connected, facilities was being rung up to bring me a pair of roll away beds and Benny was writing up a complementary $40 food voucher for the restaurant. The rooms were immaculate and just one set of rooms away from the elevators. When we did go down to use the $40 voucher the entire meal was comp'd as well. All and all I have to say that The staff at the San Ramon Marriott made good on their word and then some and turned a bad situation in to a very positive one. I'd like to personally thank Benny and Linda for stepping up to the plate and hitting a home run when it was...
Read moreA pleasant stay. Located in a pleasant setting and location. It’s conveniently located. It’s a block from Target and a few blocks from a newer mall that has shops, restaurants and a movie theater. Freeway is close by. My room had a little freeway noise. There is space between the hotel and freeway. A cement wall and redwood trees to block noise and you can’t see it. San Ramon is kind of in the middle of the Tri-valley. The staff was friendly and helpful. They had some room service, a bar, casual restaurant, pool, gym, laundry room with two washers ( only one worked) two dryers. Outdoor seating. Full size Marriott hotel with everything. Conference rooms, banquet rooms etc.. good parking but they charge you. Not outrageous. The front of the hotel has many Magnolia and redwood trees. The grounds have nice trees and is maintained. There is a large business park across the street with a big pond. It has a walking trail around it. Great for a nice walk and to clear your mind. It takes 20 minutes to walk around once. I really appreciated it. I appreciated the convenient location of the hotel and the area feels safe. My room had a sliding glass door that I could open for fresh air. I had a little private balcony, a palm tree right outside my balcony window which I also appreciated, Marriott has very comfortable beds! Down pillows, opulent beds. Very nice and comfortable. My room and bathroom were a decent size. There was a club chair in the room and a desk with a office chair. Big TV. Hot water came instantly! Good water pressure and all. I heard they are going to remodel. I hope they put hard flooring. Carpet is not sanitary. I hope they don’t make it really modern. The hotel looks traditional, I hope they stay with that style. It doesn’t even look like it needs remodeling. I’m not into wasting resources when not necessary. I just think it would look better and be more sanitary with hard flooring and it would look better longer. Carpet get gross fast in hotels. Too many people. Overall, a very pleasant stay. Nothing much to...
Read moreStayed there for 4 days. The room was very clean and spacious. Check in was a breeze. We requested a packnplay for my 1YR old and they were prompt in bringing one up. And my 2 yr old found the chaise lounge more comfortable than the bed haha.
We didn’t use the pool or the gym but the hotel was in great walking distance to restaurants, an outlet mall, and target. We felt the location was great.
The Although the room was very spacious, there wasn’t a lot of storage for clothes. There was a small closet by the bathroom but only 4 hangers. We stayed for 4 days and I like to unpack my things rather than live out of a suitcase. The entertainment center has two drawers. But with 2 adults and two kids it just wasn’t enough.
I needed to do a load of laundry and although they said they have a laundry room, it wasn’t as convenient for me as I thought it would be. It was coin operated which feels a little outdated for a hotel that is cashless. I had to go to the store to get cash so that the front desk can give me coins. I’ve stayed at other Marriott’s where the laundry is just free and laundry soap is provided because no one travels with laundry soap. There is also only 2 washers and two dryers for the entire hotel. I had another guest come in twice in the 45min I was waiting, to see if I was done.
Biggest problem we had with the room was the temperature. The thermostat was set to 68 degrees but the room stayed at 75. Unless we kept the windows closed it would only go down to 72. It was very disappointing and uncomfortable as we prefer our room to be closer than 70degrees during the hot summer. I mentioned it to the front desk twice and they told me they would send an engineer or someone up to help with the thermostat. No one came.
We made it work with the tiny closet. I got my laundry done. And 72 degrees is not the end of the world. But I think we just expected a different level of comfort and convenience for what we paid for. We asked the front desk when we checked out if there was any compensation for it and he said...
