I want to preface first and foremost that I believed the property was lovely. Choosing this hotel was based on location and we were very excited to be close to everything that we wanted to do. I also want to say the maintenance employee was wonderful and kind. He worked on 10/7 in the morning.
However, the complaint that I have to make does not come lightly and I have battled with for the last few days and have decided that the audacity and disrespect given to my partner and I regarding the issue at hand (will explain further) was completely baffling.
Upon arriving at the Inn and Suites, We collected our key cards from the mailbox at the front door. It was late in the evening as our travels were extended and took longer than we believed. A gentleman did greet us at the door and just pointed to our room (1) and told us where it was.
After beginning to get settled, my partner realized that the bottom of her pants were soaking wet. We did some investigating and saw that there was a large puddle on the floor and when stepping around liquid rising from beneath the planks. I called the front desk number and the recording told me to leave a voicemail, but we also went back to the front desk (which was closed and we did not know that it closed at 9), so left a secondary voicemail to let the front desk know in the morning that we tried to rectify the situation.
I went to the front desk in the morning while breakfast was being served and explained the issue to maintenance who said that I needed to speak with Natalie and she would be back. I spoke with Natalie and explained what happened and her response was to cut me off, tap the desk and say "I am no one that can help you. You need to wait for the assistant general manager." I asked when she would be in and she said in 30 minutes. I went back to the front desk and we were told that the assistant manager was by our room and to meet us there.
In summary, but not complete details: The assistant manager called me by name and said "what is the problem?" Further, when I started to explain what happened she completely cut me off and asked why I didn't call the after hours number for assistance. I explained that there wasn't a number to call and that if I knew of one I would have called, but left two voicemails because I wasn't aware. She asked if I knew the office closed at 9pm and I said no, because we arrived at 830-845pm and that wasn't posted or explained. The assistant general manager continued to be extremely aggressive, and would not let us speak to her regarding the issue. Continued to say "the problem is being fixed." Her demeanor was extremely defensive, completely unapologetic, and unprofessional. I looked at my partner and said "I can't even talk, I don't even know what to say" in which the assistant manager started yelling at me saying that my attitude was uncalled for and that she was cancelling my reservation for the rest of my stay and that I would not be charged for my stay at all.
I loaded the car and went to the front desk for a receipt. She could not print me the receipt that I was wanting, so she had to call the assistant manager. The assistant manager came and printed my receipt; however, charged me for the night. When I asked why she charged me for the night when she said I wouldn't be charged for my stay (which would have included the 12 hours I was there) she rolled her eyes, smacked her lips, instantly had an attitude and said "you stayed you pay".
I cannot fathom how any business treats their customers this way. Not only was it to me, but the same disrespect was given to another customer who was checking out early due to issues with the room and the...
Read moreFor a motel this place is nice. The rooms have the feel of staying in a cottage. It is cozy and cute. The birds are chirping in the morning here. We can tell the place has had some renovations done. The rooms could use a little more decoration and color. Whoever did the paint in our room (10) missed some large spots and were so lazy they didn’t bother taking off hooks to paint under them. Instead attempting to paint around them leaving swirls all over the wall. If I had paid for this work I wouldn’t be happy anyway. But I digress, paint isn’t that important. I’m going to break down my review on a few different topics.
Travel with baby - one of the main reasons we decided to stay here is that they offered a pack n play for our 10 month old. We took her to a hotel before that gave us a flimsy metal crib and she hated it and didn’t sleep at all. The pack n play is such a wonderful thing to offer as most families have one for their little ones. It’s like having a peice of home without having to bring it. The baby was comfortable, played all day in it like at home, and slept comfortably through the night. This was most important to us.
Breakfast - Needs improvement here. While the display is cute I think some things need to change for food safety sake. I would have loved to have a big bowl of cereal when I woke up but the milk had a white ring with residue inside the container. This grosses me out when I see this since I feel like that milk had been sitting out for long periods of time at room temp. The milk sits on a thin metal tray that is no deeper than a cookie sheet with some ice. This barely covers the bottom of the milk and by 9am the ice is all but gone and I’m sure the milk is warm. I was happy to see they offered coconut milk as well but I didn’t dare try a bowl of cereal. Instead I went for some yogurts and a muffin. This muffin was the best thing tho! I’m not sure what kind it is but it’s like a coffee cake with strawberry cream inside of it. Soooo good! I brought my husband back waffles but sad to say the maple syrup is just burnt sugar and not really maple syrup. Which is sad being from MA we always enjoyed real syrup and now that I live in Iowa I make sure I buy the real stuff. I had planned on feeding the baby from the bar but options were limited and only orange juice available so baby did not eat from the buffet.
Showers - the water is hot and I like the water hot. Since the place is small the water does get cold but it’s reasonable. The bathrooms have been renovated and the decor is nice however in our bathroom they missed the handle in the shower. I wouldn’t touch it with a 10 foot pole. Yuck.
The room - as I had said before the room has the feel of a cottage. A few more decorations and color would be nice. TV is a decent size and a good range of channels available. Our room was clean, no smoke smell or other funny smells. If you stayed here and did not hear neighbors you most likely did not have any. We can hear them but they didn’t keep us up at night. It looks like mostly people who travel for work stay here during the off season. Since the doors open to the outside when we put the do not disturb sign on the door we can hear it flapping around outside and hitting the door and it falls off. Maybe a heavier sign or one that attaches tightly around the handle would work better. Also key cards should be reused a certain amount of times. If the design gets faded and customers can tell it’s been reused it might be time for some new ones.
I’ll update...
Read moreStayed here for three nights and overall enjoyed my stay. Cute little inn off Route 6A in Sandwich, MA. With beach access, shopping, dining, and museums just minutes away, this is a very convenient location for your next Cape getaway.
Check-in: Check-in was quick and easy. Staff was nice and helpful pointing out all the on-site amenities like a snack, ice, and laundry room.
Room & Stay: Upon entering my room I noticed the smoke detector was beeping like it needed the battery changed. I alerted the staff and they immediately followed me back to my room with a new battery. After determining the smoke detector unit needed replacing, they made sure to replace it in a timely manner. The room was quite clean. I’m one who travels with a few cleaning supplies to clean all commonly touched surfaces for peace of mind and couldn’t find much dirt anywhere. I also inspected beds and linens for cleanliness and any unwanted pests and didn’t find any. My room had two double beds, cable tv, WiFi, a/c, small refrigerator, microwave, tea kettle, assortment of instant coffee and teas, small table with chairs, ice bucket, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, and complimentary soaps. The most important amenity was the dehumidifier and I was very thankful as it can get quite humid in the area and it made those warmer days and nights much more comfortable. Just be sure to monitor the tank as it gets full about every 6-7 hours. Overall I felt very safe staying here. Noticed security cameras throughout the property. The property was beautiful and well maintained. There’s enough parking for everyone to park right outside their room. One can find plenty of places to dine, shop, and explore along Route 6A. Just a few minutes away from attractions like the Sandwich Boardwalk (loved waking up early to watch the sunrise here) and the Heritage Museums & Gardens. Highly recommend the cute ice cream shop across the road.
Breakfast: I was very impressed with the generous breakfast layout. I was expecting something simple like a few pastries and coffee but there was so much more. From what I can recall, there were waffles, French toast, bagels, a few other pastries, a variety of cereal, hard boiled eggs, Canadian bacon, whole fruits, yogurt, a few types of juices and milk, coffee, tea, and assortment of jams/jellies, cream cheese, and Nutella. The dining area was also well maintained with plenty of indoor and...
