We stayed here during our evacuation from Hurricane Ian (September 2022), and Aaron and his wife were very kind and accommodating, which we were so grateful for, given the circumstances. We were in "The Ivy", a 2-bedroom, 1 bathroom, that had a small but full kitchen unit upstairs.
WHAT WE LOVED it's adorable and completely charming it was spacious and the living room was comfy the kitchen was decently equipped and easy to cook in having a washer/dryer in unit was great the murals on the ceiling were gorgeous! the owners were helpful and understanding
WHAT WE DIDN'T LOVE the beds were truly awful. One was hard as a board and the other was held up by random bricks/boards and sagged in the middle. We literally went out and bought a 2 inch foam mattress topper and it improved our stay drastically.
the walls don't go up to the ceiling. As in, you can hear the people in the other bedroom, see their lights on from the inner bedroom... It was really strange and I would be uncomfortable if we were staying here with another couple.
the building is really old, so the door would stick, not seal properly, and the wood floors felt saggy.
the second inner bedroom is so tiny, even a petite person would struggle to get into the other side of the bed, by squeezing alongside the wall.
the stairs leading up to the unit were rickety and could easily give you splinters.
All in all, we enjoyed our time at Park Place. It was quiet and peaceful, in spite of the storm and flooding. And yes, this area floods so keep that in mind for...
Read moreOn arrival the owner informed us that there was building work for a small restaurant being carried out on the lower floor beneath our booked apartment and work started at 9am. This was OK with us as early risers but the fact that this work went on until 6pm, six days a week, did not make for a tranquil and peaceful vacation. We had Ivy Cottage which was very spacious with the lounge and both bedrooms being very spacious, and very comfortable. However, the bathroom and kitchen left much to be desired. The bathroom in general needed a complete updating and the shower head was that dirty that I had to clean it thoroughly before we could use it. Also there was no air extractor working there. The kitchen area really needed updating and a good clean. The cooker was very, very old and dirty looking and in desperate need of replacement. We couldn't use it. The utensils, plates and culinary was adequate but looked as they had come from either a thrift or charity shop.||The exterior of the property felt rather neglected as the garden areas needed attention and patio areas, plus walkway's which weren't being used as a builders site, required a good pressure washing. The walkway to our apartment was at some times littered with various builders debris creating a somewhat health and safety hazard.||This property has the makings of being really excellent in both location and presentation and it would only take a dedicated week or so to bring it up to that standard. Would also benefit from the owners living near or on site. Until then it looks a...
Read moreI would give this place a 3/5. It’s decent but not that great. My boyfriend and I stayed in room number 1301. We stayed for four days. There was some issues that we had come across. Since we were bottom floor our room was right next to the busy road. We heard cops, ambulances, motorcycles, and just cars blaring their music. At all times during the night. Another issue we had was the lamp near the huge painting was not working. We weren’t sure if it was an outlet issue or a bulb issue. In the kitchen the sink doesn’t drain properly. It drains slowly. On our third day staying. We were gonna do a load of laundry. However the washer was not working. It was very inconvenient. The amount of random chairs in our room and the living room was weird. There were a-lot of stains and it appears that the chairs have been sat in for decades. The ottoman in front of the couch was also inconvenient, you really can’t place your drink glass on it. You have to set it on the floor. A coffee table would be better in front of the couch. The dinning table is another issue. It sits in the corner right next the laundry room door and next to sofa chair. It makes for a tight space to sit or to even have a meal. I think this place just needs a bit of an update and appliances need to be...
