We really like this dog park…most of the time. 9/10 there is a good mix of dogs and they are friendly and have a good time together. Most people are looking after their animals. Like most things, there are always a few bad apples that spoil the bunch. Once a pit mix tried to attack our dog and the owner did nothing to stop it. He didn’t even know it was going on. He was across the park sitting with ear buds in completely ignoring his dogs. Just today, a Great Dane mix attacked our dog and bit or scratched (not sure which, but took out a lot of skin) my boyfriends leg and the person who brought the dog refused to call the dog off or do anything to stop it. We showed the man the bite mark and he said it was our fault for entering the dog park with our dog on a leash and we were too over protective, so I guess he thinks we deserved to be bit. Yes, that actually happened at a dog park! He did tell us the dog was not his and he was just watching it, so I’m sure he was just afraid to grab the dog and was trying to deflect to not end up in trouble over it. Crazy. We had to file a report about it. So you just have to watch it in there, because occasionally irresponsible people bring dogs in there shouldn’t be in a dog park and leave them unattended. This seems to happen often enough (other visitors tell us their stories as well) that it is making us rethink whether or not we would like to continue...
Read moreI have previously left a very lengthy posting on this site regarding Paw park of historic Sanford. I am not sure what happened to it I haven't seen it in quite a while but here is a quick breakdown once again. The park has several areas where you can take different sized dogs and has a lot of agility toys that dogs can run a jump or play through. All in all the park is small but very nice plenty of watering spots for the dogs and bags for pickups. 2 downsides number one there is no latrine for the Fur baby's parents and and the other 1 is the side of town that's on everybody that knows Sanford knows 2nd to 5th street can be kind of rough.. On this particular visit we met some friends in the evening and the place was way too dark all that it had was a few street lights And that was not nearly enough lighting for the dog park let alone in area that has problems with crime.. Once again this is John Yohan with your commentary and perhaps insight. I hope this helps you out and 0lease try to have a safe and...
Read moreI love this park because it has an adequate amount of activities, climbing and obstacle equipment, and resources such as water, benches, and shade. Additionally it has a chain link fence separating the large dogs from the smaller dogs so everyone can bark at each other and run up and down if they want and I can enjoy the play of large dogs while my small dogs are safe. There is adequate parking right alongside the perimeter of the fence. There is enough grass and of course squirrels populate the trees for the enjoyment and irritation of some dogs. Only downside is that entries and exits need to be timed so large and small dogs are not coming and going together within the same 6 or 8 ft enclosure. There is a double gate at that spot which is good for safety of the animals. It's very easy to find as it's right on the main drag through Sanford. I call it 17-92 coming from Orlando area. The pictures are only of the small dog park, the other side is about 4 X's larger,...
