Very frustrating experience. We had a reservation for 2 nights. On our way to Santa Barbara, we found that the 101 was closed. We are from Nevada and had no idea about the road closure. We were told that we would have to go around and that would take an additional 5 hours. I texted the Agave Inn and explained what had happened and that we would have to cancel. We were just too tired to drive an additional 5 hours. The lady at the Agave Inn texted me and said she would give us a refund. What she didn't say, was that they were still going to charge us for the second night. That was very misleading. I noticed a $104.68 fee on my credit card so I called her. I was very nice and she was very nice, but she refused to refund the money. Fortunately, price gouging laws were put in place for times of emergency, and the road closure was due to a flood emergency that had caused a lot of damage. Hopefully my pursuit of price gouging will result in a refund. You be the judge as to whether you want to patronize a place that has no business ethics. And one more point, just to put things in perspective. We were on our way to Sansum Medical Clinic for a biopsy appointment. Sansum did not charge us for the cancellation. Update: The Agave Inn did end up refunding the rest of the money after I texted that I would be contacting the Attorney General's Office. I am thankful...
Read morePerfect bargain for a 1-night stay in Santa Barbara while seeing a performance at the downtown Arlington Theatre for Brian Regan's stand-up comedy. Clean, quiet, 2nd-floor, king-bed, in a unit tucked away in the back, away from State street, 10 min-drive to the Arlington, but opted for a nice 45-min walk through Santa Barbara, simply following State St into downtown. Forgot to turn on the heater and fan unit before going to bed, so woke up chilly, and had to crank the heat in the middle of the night, but it soon got toasty enough, and had a good nights sleep. So happy to find this jewel in Santa Barbara, run by nice people who know how to invest in the upkeep and ambience for a good customer experience. Why can't other Inn's give 100% like Agave? No wonder Agave consistently gets such positive 5-star reviews across...
Read moreMy stay was actually good. I was in the suite room for maybe a total of 6 days over the course of 10 days. That's roughly $660, I choose that film because it has a full kitchen. I loved it, due to circumstances out of my hand. I find myself and 2 small boys homeless. The manager or owner Wendy knew this. One night my youngest got sick and threw up while in his sleep. I removed the sheets and placed them inside a pillow case. I cleaned the floor and bed railing. The next time I went to get a room more with less funds to afford the big room she proceeded to tell me she couldn't rent a room to me because the film had carpeting?! I was turned away because of one incident which i cleaned up. I felt hopeless and degraded. Then she preached to me a Godly word and i3 felt as tho she is biggest hypocrite....
