First let me say that the staff was very friendly. I understand they just opened and there will be some glitches early on. I experienced some of those glitches.
I called a few days before my arrival to request an early check-in, which I completely understand is not guaranteed. I arrived around noon and waited until around 1:30pm for a room to be ready, which was fine. I told them I was willing to wait around. I was very appreciative that they had a room ready at 1:30pm and checked in. When I got to the room there was a wet, used washcloth in the tray in the shower and there were numerous large and small hairs in the shower pan. I came back downstairs and told them the room was not clean. The front desk associate apologized and found another room that was ready. She went up to the room to confirm it was clean. When she came down and said it was clean she provided keys and I went up to the room. I opened the refrigerator in that room and found a couple half-eaten food items left behind.
At that point I was somewhat frustrated by the situation. I had not been demanding of a room by a certain time and even said multiple times that I was willing to wait for a room to be ready so it would be completely ready. A woman who I believe to be the front desk supervisor got involved at this point and told me she would find another room while I waited. I waited for 10 minutes or so, which again was fine, while a room was completed and checked before I was assigned the new room. She offered me an item from the store for my troubles, which I declined. She then offered me points, which I accepted (although they did not appear on my account when the stay posted).
Once in my third room, which was clean, there were a couple more issues that were nuisances. The wifi was not working. When I tried logging in using my room number (I tried all three room numbers I had been assigned) it said the information did not match. The non-login wifi didn't work most of the time either. In addition, the cold water was not hooked up at the bathroom sink, so there was low pressure and only hot water. I notified the front desk about the plumbing issue at check-out.
As I stated previously, I understand there are kinks to work out in the first few weeks of opening a hotel. Hopefully these issues get ironed out soon. At least they seem to have good...
During the week of Dec. 20,2023, I stayed at Springhill two nonconsecutive nights in the same week. The hotel is new, clean and the breakfast was great. Breakfast was varied, very well prepared, and nicely displayed. The attendant, Michele, was a delight to converse with, so approachable and I looked forward to seeing her during my second night. |Management, what a find. A keeper. |Springhill will be my first choice when we're back in Valencia/Santa Clarita.||The evening front desk clerk was helpful, had a perpetual smile, and was easy going. I was a bit apprehensive when I arrived, and his acceptance was relieving. He made my stay restful and enjoyable. ||Three downfalls, easily correctable by management:||• On my second stay, the room shower drain was stopped up so had to stand in water during my shower. When reported, it seemed like the morning front desk lady could care less.||• In the morning I needed a battery jump for my car and the morning female clerk was absolutely no help. Her response, “sorry I can’t help you. Last week I also needed a battery jump. Don’t know where you can call.” Really! This response shows a lack of customer service and bring out her stupidity, is very demeaning and frustrating especially since I had to drive 600 miles after I got my car started. Waiting to find a start cost me about 3-1/2 hours.||• The second night room rate was higher then the first. The front desk clerk said | sorry I can’t give you the same rate. As a repeat customer? He kind of lost s couple | brownie point with that one.||Overall, I would highly recommend Springhill for a delightful place to stay. Except for the morning front desk clerk I would say this hotel hit it out of the park. Most everything was...
Read moreNice group of hotels in an area that's a short five minute drive to Magic Mountain. There's three hotels brand here (Springhill, Residence, and Holiday Inn) that share a common lot and parking so it appears they're operated by the same franchisee.
The hotel is new with lot of high end West Elm furniture. Lobby area is spacious and has bar but no on premise restaurant with plenty of chairs and dining tables (for their free breakfast). But, the staff here allow you to bring outside food and use their dining area.
Marriot does try and promote the use of their app with a digital card key and app check-in but it wasn't working for me when I got there. Not a deal breaker as the staff here were friendly. The rooms are spacious with a living area and bedroom area separated by a tall desk stand. Mini fridge, microwaves, and coffee makers are standard, and the in-room A/C worked well (if you open the window, the A/C will shutoff). The bathroom vanity area was a bit cramped and the faucet had low water pressure. Our sink was clogged but a call to the front desk and few minutes later, they sent someone to fix it. Our room wasn't cleaned even though we didn't hang our "do not disturb" sign and after the cleaning person told us our room would be cleaned later in the afternoon. We ended up settling to just have them take out our garbage and give us fresh towels.
There are some on premise entertainment including a pool and an outdoor fire place. Their game room has a ping pong and foosball table (you have to leave your ID in exchange for the ping pong paddle and foosball) but the game rooms A/C didn't work and after 30 minutes, it just...
