DO NOT GO HERE! RUN AWAY! They absolutely ruined my hair & I am literally having to pay someone else to repair the damage done but had to see a doctor. They need to rename this place Shannon's Horror Salon.
I'm a retired hair model. I've had my hair featured in campaigns, shows & contests on a national level. (Vidal Sassoon, Paul Mitchell and Aveda as well as hair stylists that are some of the biggest names in the industry.) With this said, I've had my hair cut & colored in every aspect known to man through out my career & NEVER have I even had a student do the damage that the owner of this salon has done to my hair and scalp. I've got first degree chemical burns all over entire crown of my scalp, that's resulted in 10 quarter inch sized scabs in various areas & clumps of my hair have broken pretty much down within an inch of it. Something I've never experienced before & I hope you will not go to this Salon of Horrors to experience yourself.
My normal stylist was unavailable before I was to walk a red carpet event. Through a suggestion, I went to Hair By Shannon. My appointment was at 9:45 & from there I filled out a new customer survey. I gave the owner, who's doing my hair, a photo of my hair from a photo shoot & asked her to just touch up the roots matching the blonde already existing in my hair & to the hair in my photo. I also gave her the specific names of the colors my stylist normally uses in my hair, which is Honey Beige Blonde (soft honey gold color.) I asked her to also be careful when bleaching my hair to not make it brassy. I asked her what type of bleach/chemical she would be using in my hair & she said the name of the brand my normal stylist works. From this moment on, this is when it goes downhill.
I have baby fine straight hair. She left the bleach in my hair for roughly 40 minutes. The entire time, I was unattended with my hair under heat. (I've never have had a stylist leave bleach on my hair for longer than 25 minutes even with a 20 developer because my hair lifts so quickly.) I tried to keep assuring myself that she knew what she's doing, but her not checking my hair for such a length of time did concern me. She's the owner, right? Then after the wash/rinse, she put the toner in. I do have a scalp of steel from all the modeling & though the "itching" I got from the bleach is more intense this time, I kept trying to trust in "the professional." Well as she began to comb out my hair my boyfriend walked up with a concerned look on his face. The first thing out of his mouth was, "Did you go for a new color?" I looked in the mirror to see such an ash blonde that my hair looked like it was grey. It almost looked like that pastel grey that is the new rage nowadays. The owner begins explaining that it's in the photo I showed her and that I picked the color from the swatches. LIE! She then says she will make it right & "deposit" in a color on top. So another toner is put in, then another wash/rinse. Now it looks like I had grey/ash-y blonde & brassy blonde & it's chunky/streaky. So she insists on another toner being put into my hair to correct it. As she is drying it, I am just wanting to get out of there to find someone else correct it & my scalp has gone from itching to burning & now, straight up hurting. She the entire time is talking in a way to let me know I'm inconveniencing her to correct the hair color & even at the third time, it's still wrong. My boyfriend pulls her aside, because he was also there getting his hair done, & starts telling her how dissatisfied I am with my hair because he can see how near tears I am. She at this point is insisting that I pay $185 for her to have done my hair three times & it still doesn't come close to the blonde that is already in my hair and represented perfectly in a photo that I've shown her. She is trying to get me to sit & have her put toner in my hair for a fourth time to get my color but by this time, I can feel my scalp could not take not one more thing to it. Again got there at 9:4am, I didn't leave there until 2:40pm. My hair & my...
Read moreThis review is for Kelly Fountain. I had such a jarring experience with Kelly Fountain that I want to warn anyone considering her as their hair stylist. I had been seeing Kelly for a year. She had cut and highlighted my hair a few times no issues until this past August. I had an appointment with her for highlights, my hair barely lifted, not as bright as they shouldâve been or what youâd expect to see when youâve paid over $300. I went home and yes they were orange. I texted Kelly to let her know my dissatisfaction and made a new appt. This time she only fixed the highlights around my face I asked if she was going to fix the other highlights and thatâs where it started and why Iâm leaving this review; Kelly blamed me for my hair not lifting. (I do my own roots at home using only professional products available to salons, never have I used boxed dye). And she blamed me for the highlights not being bright because I requested an âashâ tone. And then she told me this: âWe arenât seeing eye to eye, you seemed unhappy the last few times you were in hereâŚâ basically she fired me as a client. I was stunned. I walked out feeling embarrassed and humiliated, what did I do wrong? She is supposed to be the âprofessionalâ yet she blames her client for their hair not lifting? I have since found an experienced stylist who has given me highlights that lifted to a 10. If doing my own roots was my fault, how did this stylist get them to a 10? Another note: Kelly suggested this appointment to me I didnât request it, so if I was supposedly âso unhappyâ and we âwerenât seeing eye to eyeâ, why would she want to suggest a further appointment with me? If Kelly was a âprofessionalâ she wouldâve been honest and upfront with me about my hair. Never once did she tell me during my appointment that my hair did not lift past an 8 and that is was orange. Kelly Fountain is a complete unprofessional and uneducated hair stylist who treats her clients horribly and blames them for her own...
Read moreThursday, April 17. I came in for an appointment that I knew would take long, I wanted to go from a brunette to a light blonde in a day. I know that in some cases itâs impossible and this is why I asked beforehand if this is something that you could get done. I was told that yes it could be done and I would be charged $80 the hour. I come in and we discuss things, the lady told me that too bright of a blonde would look weird so she would keep some of my hair to make it look more natural. I was hesitant but she insisted I would love it. After she was finished, I saw that I ended it up with some sort of balayage but the âblondeâ pieces were barely noticeable! Not at all what I wanted, it was still mainly my hair color but with like blonde highlights. I honestly felt like crying. I told her itâs not what I wanted and she said it was, that that was what we agreed on but she never told me it would look like that. I am new to all of this so perhaps it was miscommunication since I donât understand hair terms but the damage has been done, my virgin hair was bleached in sections and now I canât get rid of my natural hair color because I would have to bleach it and the âhighlightsâ would get damaged. It is awful, I cried for hours. She also cut a huge chunk of my hair, and while I agreed to cut the damaged part, I feel more than what was supposed to be cut, was cut. After all that disaster and her not wanting to fix it, I still had to pay $320 and I hate it. I will NOT recommend this place to anyone, not even their boss tried to console me or ask me if anything had happened, everything was just with her and her ugly âbalayage highlights.â Here is some pictures for proof. 1 is my natural hair, 2 is how I wanted it, 3 & 4 is what she made it seem I would have and said she did, and 5 & 6 is my hair after she...
