We had a great stay here! The eclectic vibe was on point! The rooms were very cool.. amenities were nice with water, towels, blankets, soap and shampoo I had forgot! The owner denise and her staff were so helpful and kind! I was concerned about not having what I would normally have at a hotel... I felt so at home there and I'm happy I made the decision. The walkability to downtown was amazing.. plus you can grab a bike or scooter with veo right outside your door. The only challenge was parking.. but that is a challenge everywhere in sarasota during busy times. You will love your stay here!

Good location Nice rooms with everything you need. The host goes beyond with little touches like kitchen accessories or bath accessories. I don't like you can't reach them over the phone. The cleanliness could be a bit better, for people who like to be extremely clean, I'm not sure if I'd recommend.

Burns Square Historics Vacation Homes is the perfect place to stay in Sarasota. The apartments are charming, Denise the owner couldn't have been a more welcoming host, and it is an easy walk to Selby Gardens, Owen's Fish Camp and downtown Sarasota and the beaches.

Apparently people's expectations are very different and can lead to interpretation of reviews to be very misleading. Also, the images online don't truly match up with what we experienced. To begin with the positive, Denise and her employees are very nice, professional and available when needed. This made booking, check-in, etc... very simple. Even parking, which is street or lot, was explained well enough that this was a non-issue for us. The location is also perfect. We walked everywhere, and felt we were in in the heart of things. The coffee shop (project coffee) across the street is a gem. One day we left to go elsewhere for breakfast but ended up back there! This is our first stay in Sarasota so much of the history, etc.. is new to us. The place is "historic" which lends charm and experience. When we entered our unit, we could smell it. It took a while for us to figure out it's the Sarasota water which has a sulphur smell. It permeated the unit and was off-putting to us. To compound this, there is no fan in the bathroom so we couldn't really move air out of there. The weather was pleasant while we were there so we would have like to open windows to create airflow, but there is no way to open the windows and they are painted shut or pieces missing that would have allowed them to be opened. We would leave our entryway door open from time to time to air it out. I knew there was beach gear, etc.. available. Unfortunately it took me until our last day to locate it in the hallway cupboards, but everything is there if you need it. I give credit to the photographer for making the place appear lighter and roomier than it felt while there. The place is somewhat dark with lighting required. The bed frame which is quite large (too large for the space really) had what I first thought were stains all over the fabric. After a few days I decided they were probably bleach stains from cleaner. It looks shoddy either way. The towels provided were a hodgepodge - white ones, patterned ones. Felt a little cheap. There were streaks down the walls and I couldn't decide if they were from people spilling things or condensation rolling down the walls. It just left me feeling it wasn't so clean. Then I pulled out 2 wine glasses and they both had red residue in the bottom as though they had been put away used but not cleaned. Overall, if I look at the photos of the unit online and compare to what we had, they are different. Pictures on walls that were in different locations, furniture setup differently, the bed frame free from all the splotches of bleach or dirty areas. Simply different decorations or furniture pieces. On one hand it was a unique experience that brought us right into the real Sarasota but it didn't really meet our expectations set by reading other's reviews or viewing images. Sorry, I know the owner is trying to offer a great experience but just the smell alone with no bathroom ventilation was enough for us to know we would not...

This place is not only amazing but it is so comfortable and cute! I was in town for a metaphysical event down the road this weekend and I needed a place to stay that was within my budget. I found this charm available on the internet and jumped on it. They answered all my questions quickly and effectively through text as they were not available by phone and even though I never had a chance to meet them face to face, I must say their customer service was amazing! I had told them that I would be coming in late, much later than office hours so to speak and they arranged with me everything very easily so that I could have access without bothering anyone.

Surrounding area is beautiful and this building has a charm all its own. Our room has a feel and a look of being old with a mix of modern in a way, I lack The proper terminology for it. From the top comforter piece that reminded me of one I used to have at my grandmother's as a child to the writing table in the bedroom as well as the bench at the foot of the bed, each having a touch of vintage to it. To the more modernized living room area and kitchen with little pieces here and there that kind of have a an old world meets new world type feel. The room was just the cutest!

The building and area is quite peaceful. Afternoon or evening strolls even morning strolls if you prefer that time of the day are going to be excellent to those who wish to take the area up on that. There's an eatery/bar right downstairs and a few other businesses downstairs.

If I'm back in town which I know I will be I will definitely be adding this to my roster of places to stay! Austin you were amazing! Thanks for answering...

Burns Square Hotel is a very terrific place! It is in an artistic community that's very close to downtown Sarasota and the marina! Burns Court is is made up of artfully restored apartments which feature beautiful antique furniture and original art.

I was quite moved by the chalk art on the sidewalk that is part of the Sarasota international chalk festival run by Denise, who is the owner of this historic building. I stayed in a one bedroom apartment that was beautifully furnished with a fully stocked kitchen, a comfortable bed, Wi-Fi TV cable etc. etc Burns Court is a fully restored from their purchasing 1920s as a historical hotel. Denise the host of these apartments is absolutely wonderful and she was extremely responsive to any issues or things that I needed in the apartment. She's put a lot of thought into the furnishings of each apartment and they all are lovely!! I was only there for five nights, but I absolutely could see Spending a month in this one of the sweet little apartments!

Check in and check out was very easy and the hotel is in a very quiet neighborhood. If walking is an issue for you, you must know that the units are one or two flights up stairs so if you have major walking issues you need to know that. The most fabulous coffee shop and a terrific restaurant are right in Burns Court. All I can say is the place was absolutely wonderful, a little funky, historically beautiful and artistic, and Denise and Bill were amazing as a management team. I might also note that cha-cha one of the cleaning ladies help me with luggage down and also was just such a sweetheart. The staffing was great! I look forward to returning to the...
