Currently showing-“The Taste of Things”. It is a French movie with subtitles that will more than likely get the academy award for best foreign film. The critics gave it a 98. You don’t necessarily have to be a “foodie” to enjoy this movie. Highly recommend this movie.

It Ain’t Over is a documentary about the late, great Yogi Berra. It covers his life from growing up in St Louis, meeting Carmen, his time in the Navy, and his baseball career and his final appearance at Yankee Stadium. And of course his famous “Yogi-isms”.

Having seen Yogi play and manage, I later worked at his museum on the campus of Montclair State University. I got to know him and his wife Carmen over the years at the special events held at the museum.

He is truly a very humble and very likable man. I think the movie portrayed this and is filled with commentary by former players such as Joe Girardi, Don Larsen, Joe Torre, Derek Jeter and many other sport greats as well as his family and his granddaughter who was heavily involved in this documentary.

The programming here has gone more mainstream in the last year or so. Their programming now is on the course of the Beach theatre before it closed. Films like Zama-Burning-Let the sunshine in-High Life-Ash is purest white-Long Day's Journey into night-Happy as Lazzaro...back in the day these would have been at Burns Ct. Now it's things like Focus features The Mustang, RBG, Free Solo- the artier edge of commercial film but not really art house cinema. Too bad. I know near-empty theatres don't serve anyone...but Burns Ct proved there is an audience and a market for foreign and American indies. Please let the cineplexes screen commercial films and go back to the programming that made you the only art house...
