first of all, the property itself is absolutely gorgeous… and while it was aesthetically pleasing, that’s about all it was. The cost of a nightly stay is very high for what you get in the main RV spaces. There are three spots in the campground that are worth having, but they do not include sewer and one does not include water either. These sites as C1, C2, and C3. They face one of their three gorgeous lakes and are shaded by two huge trees. If you’re going to stay in this campground, I recommend using your black and gray tanks and insisting on one of these three spaces. The location is very convenient to Savannah and it takes only about 8 minutes to get to downtown.
The utilities that are provided are okay. The electricity was consistent even when all the other campers were using their A/Cs. The water tasted okay and the pressure was very good. However, during our stay, the water turned itself off and it was very challenging to get in touch with the staff. Several voicemails had to be left and after about an hour of trying to contact them, they finally got back to us and our fellow campers next door with a short call saying their were “working on it.” About 20 minutes later the water was back on so to be fair—they are helpful, just slow and hard to get in touch with.
Wifi is basically non-existent here. You can occasionally see it from the spots near the lake, but getting a signal from any of the main spaces doesn’t seem possible. The clubhouse itself is very nice. It featured a big screen TV, a pool table, lots of local brochures of Savannah attractions. There is a pool, on-site laundry facilities, and a fitness room as well… but it seemed like it was more a part of the staff housing so I felt very uncomfortable using any of these things.
Pets are allowed on the premises with no additional charge. There is no fenced park, so all exercise has to be done on-leash. One of the owners of the property allows their Australian Shepard to roam around without a collar which could be a problem for people who either don’t like larger dogs or who have dogs that are not friendly with other dogs. The Shepard seemed very nice and will play fetch with you but, since it was hard to get a hold of anyone at the office, if there was a conflict the odds of someone being around to aid you are slim.
Again, it’s a bit on the higher-end of pricing so I wouldn’t stay here again for more than a few nights—but I would consider returning! All in all, I would recommend this as a pleasant place to stay for people who are dog-friendly, self-sufficient, and looking for a place to park while they check...
Read moreStaff was friendly, personable, and very helpful. We travel with a small older dog that needs to be taken outside to potty about every 4 hours. We asked the office if they knew of anyone that we could trust to come into our camper, walk the dog, and then lock the camper, The office recommended one of their staff members. An individual who works at the park, introduced us to her small son, Her son (about 8 years old (guessing). Her son was very polite, dependable, and great with our dog. The son walked our pet twice that day at designated hours which enabled us to spend the entire day sightseeing and dining without worry. I would recommend this service and the individual to anyone else that might need help with small friendly pets. The park is only 5 miles from town which makes it very convenient for sightseeing and golf. We drove into Savannah and parked at the free parking provided by the Old Savannah Tours (green and orange). The lot is just as you enter town at the welcome center. We took the tour which also allows you the ability to get off and on at different stops at our leisure. The parking spots at the park are some rock and grass but even with rain from the recent tropical storm we had no issues with mud or getting stuck while driving in the grass. I would have rated them a 5 but the drive through the park is a dirt road that is very muddy when it rains. Perhaps they will put rock or gravel on the roadway before our next visit. Also, you can not drive directly up to the office for check in. You must get out of car and walk through some trees and a dirt drive way to check in. Because of the heavy rain that had come through as we we arriving, this was an inconvenient. There is a circular drive in front of the office, but because of trees, no RV were allowed. The fact that parking is on grass/rock and that there are no shade trees as mentioned by another reviewer was not an issue for us. Our last park had tall pine trees allowing a limb to fall on our vehicle during a storm causing quite a bit of damage. We prefer no trees! Overall great park and great staff. We will...
Read moreWe had a great experience here. Site CHR was great! Huge open field next to our rig. Almost no neighbors! the Club House was right next to us and on Monday they had a beer, wine, and appetizer gathering for all the RV guests! Met some great people! The grounds are immaculate. They are also dog friendly and there seemed to be almost no areas a dog could not accompany you, except the pool area and into the farm animal containments. There were bunnies, peacocks, goats and horses. Fishing ponds that are catch a release - three ponds! We saw geese, ducks, turtles, fish, and tons of other birds. There are warnings of gators and snakes, but we did not see any. The power and water worked without a hitch. It was hot and we had a half day of thunderstorms, and our rig sat in a pool of water after the heavy rain, but as soon as the hours of rain stopped, within 2 hours the pool of water seeped in the ground and it was manageable. Graveled lot, so a bit muddy around where the grass met the gravel, but not horrible for us. The staff was great! We wanted too stay longer, but our site was booked up through the week. We could have moved to another spot, but decided if we were going to have to pack up, we would try a campground near the beach, but were sad to say goodbye. This place also serves as an events space for weddings and gatherings, but there were none while we stayed here. There were trains that went by through out the night, but apparently I slept right through them, but noticed it the next morning as I went on a walk and my husband let me know there were trains going by all night. If you are sensitive to sound like my husband is, you may be bothered by the sound, but I found the sound to be non-invasive. Some campers mentioned the road noise. I also thought it was not that noticeable from our site. Highly recommend the sties near the pond/Club House. Our dog loved all the space to roam - on leash! She loved to sit and watch the goats and the horses! She was even allowed in the clubhouse for the cocktail hour! All around high fives ✋🏽...
