Platinum Elite member here, once again, to give you all the truth about this Marriott brand/location. One word: PASS! I have over 100K readers of my Marriott reviews, so I ensure that the reader is fully equipped before making a decision to spend money at one of Marriott's many global properties.
As always, I will start with the only bright spot at this entire property. That would be the bartender in the Bistro, Kathleen. She went above and beyond to ensure all of the failures she could mitigate (which weren't many) would be handled. As a new transplant to Seattle from the Denver area, she is going to do well in our neck o' the woods. Thank you, Kathleen - this would have been a one-star review without you! And now, the reasons for the two-star rating.
First, the Front Desk individual needs to find another form of employment. Having interrupted her snack time at the podium (in full view of others), this person did the bare minimum when I stated that I had checked in two (2) days prior as an Elite member, but once again was not provided the mobile room key requested. Much to their chagrin, they had to do actual work to figure things out. When I presented a $50 Gift Certificate from no other than Marriott International itself, she stated I should talk to her General Manager in the morning "to handle that properly" in regards to billing. What the af is she talking about?! The code and PIN were right there for her to take, but no, allow the guest to bypass a convenient check-out via Marriott app to settle. Ridiculous.
Second, while perusing the menu, I had questions as one might have when they dine on the hotel premises. Several things to note: a) Their "Blue Cheese dressing" is actually RANCH mixed with blue cheese crumbles. Excuse me? Two completely different flavor profiles mixed together for a RANK, ill-advised dressing substitute? b) Well, how about the sour cream for the tater tot nachos or the quesadilla? NONE. c) Okay, well how about the wines available for purchase in their 'market'? Two choices - one (1) bottle of cheap, gross Moscato dessert wine - OR - one (1) bottle of alcohol-free rose. Are you kidding me? Who's in charge of Food & Beverage around here?!? Perhaps ordering a bottle from the Bistro would cover - NOPE! No Chardonnay, a Sauv Blanc that tasted like a Reisling, and not much else in the white wine arena (for a supposed bar/cafe). So completely chincy of an experience that I had to walk to a convenience store to source a somewhat decent bottle, which is a ridiculous endeavor in and of itself. Courtyard's loss on yet another example of trying to keep the guest's spend INSIDE of the property. Complete fail!
Finally, the 'King Suite' itself - worn, tired, and broken. I have pictures of the broken hinges and moldy shower that I will update momentarily. The fact that they have a 4.1 out of 5 stars is bewildering . . . it should be closer to 3.1 stars. Regardless of tiered status, NO GUEST should have to put up with this lack of managerial care. There is simply no excuse.
This was my second time here in the last year, as I believe all locations should be given a second chance. Every hotel can have a bad day, am I right? Unfortunately, this Marriott Courtyard Northgate - Seattle has missed several marks over TWO separate stays, and that is beyond disappointing. What an embarrassment for Marriott, as this is yet another example of a franchisee who couldn't care any less. I will never come back to this nightmare.
I wonder what kind of robotic response will be received from management, if any. I'll update this post once I check out, as I get a sinking feeling that the GM/Front Desk will botch a correct redemption on the $50 gift I intend to use for this unsatisfactory stay.
Marriott - YOU NEED TO DO BETTER!!! Read my other reviews and you will see that I am fair with every Marriott stay. As a former Marriott associate, I know for a fact that they can do a better job. This location fails in almost every aspect, so caveat emptor is in full effect...
Read moreI will not recommend my family had to stay for 6 night at this location starting from the first day did not feel comfortable staying on lower floor ask to be removed they said not at this time next day come and we leave all our stuff we come back that night and everything is gone completely and room is cleaned up like new again. I immediately called the front desk they told my the general manager was going to give me a call 7 am. To not call the police because if so upper management will ask me to leave. I waited the next morning no one called so I went to front desk 8am and she did not know about it I had to explain to her again. She said management will be in around 11am and they will give me a call. I proceeded to go to work. Still waiting for call and not one call I try to call but was unable to to get though. Around 330pm I arrive back at the hotel. Let them know what was going on and they went to get the general Manger. I explained to her a 4 time about this terrible experience we are having and she say to me house keeping has not been in your room. (Anyone that goes in can clearly see they have) manger said she will do a key card reader and need to investigate. I mentioned about the police again she tells me I’m welcome to call but they won’t do anything. I let her know about all this I bought and things that came from my home she did not care it was terrible and continue saying I’m not listening to her. I left and let her investigate she called couple hours later saying she still waiting for another call and she will give us dinner for the night at there bistro. I let her know thank and we appreciate it. I asked for her to give me a call back regarding my belonging. About 2 hours pass and the general manger call back tells me that housekeeping did remove all my belongings from my room. She couldn’t explain how. I ask for my thing to be replace I donot know where the stuff been. She told me no they have all my stuff and she will replace my food with receipts. This general manager by the name Erin Nelson. It was so unprofessional and no one took accountability of my thing being removed. So of course she hang up and refuse and get back on the line about replacing my belonging.(she was getting off and off for the rest of my stay at the hotel also) I finally come that night to get all my belonging the general manger said they had of mine and this is crazy this lady had three items in a brown bags. Where is all my belonging. Not only did we bring food and drinks and brought things from home toothbrush’s , toothpaste, body wash, 2 wine bottles and over 70 worth of food and drinks.this is insane and as many hotels I stayed at just for a getaway I never experienced this and then the hotel don’t take responsibility of there employees actions. She never apologize. The general manager said they are not cooperate but like I told her this a with the Marriott and they are a big company this should not be happening to customers that staying at their hotel. I want to spread the word and let people know that it’s not safe and not only that they don’t care when it comes to protecting their customers I told them I didn’t feel safe no more in that hotel room and they refused to move me again after that tragic moment happened to Myfamily and I. I’m still waiting on a call back which I never received and I probably won’t but hopefully this get to someone that the problem can be fixed and start with management on taking responsibility of what’s going on at...
Read moreI was told by Courtyard Marriot that my stay would be covered by Medicaid because I was traveling to a local hospital. I made sure to get that information before booking and was told by them that all I needed was a voucher which I took time to get before traveling. I arrived and the front desk worker was being rude to the two people ahead of me in line. My turn was no different, rude and irritated. Then he said that they wouldn't accept my voucher even though they had told me over the phone this was what to do just a few days prior, then he tried to make this my fault because I didn't remember the employees name that I spoke to. He started implying that we should just cancel the reservation, at midnight, when I had just arrived to the hotel from Alaska with my wife and young child for medical reasons. Then he told me it was 159 a night and charged me 205 a night without telling me the total, and he said it wouldn't post to my account until we checked out and it pulled the money immediately. I spoke to management the next day and they didn't help at all just saying that they stopped taking Alaska Medicaid two years ago and they didn't do anything to right the wrongs made by telling me they would accept it a few days prior. I've travelled a lot in my life, this hotel is nothing special and if you are paying full price it is not worth the stay. The view from the room is a joke unless you like alleyways and staring in other people's windows across the street. The parking is incredibly tight and if you're driving a truck DO NOT go down to the second floor of the parking garage because it very well may not fit, we only had about 2 inches of clearance there. The room was nothing special, you can tell they tried to do some "styling" and I honestly thought the cabinets were broken because they looked so tacky and strange. Breakfast was a 4/10 and it was not included with the room. It is located right next to a bus stop and there were a lot of homeless people hanging around. If everything else in town is booked this place will get you by, but if you have other options I would strongly consider them. The biggest issue for me was them not honoring what they told me over the phone and making no attempt to correct their mistake and putting my family in a tricky situation at midnight while we were dealing with medical needs after I followed their exact...
