Seligman is one of the best reasons to put on your turn signal and get off the interstate. Remember that old television show "The Outer Limits"? As your speedometer drops back down, Its like you're being transported back. Back to a better time. A time where people are friendly. A time where you can safely walk the streets. A time where all those great memories come alive.
The first thing to do when you pull into town is to park the car. Get out and walk around. Talk to people. And guess what? They will talk back. This is one of the few places left on earth that you can have a conversation with a perfect stranger.
Even if you're too young to know all of what you're seeing, take some pictures. Then watch your Grandad's face light up when you get back home and show them to him. I'll bet he "Got his Kicks...on Route 66."
Look for the life size bronze horse in the parking lot of the Deluxe Inn. While you're there, stop in and say Hi to Kim. Kim runs the place, and gives the best rates in town. Ask her if one of her theme rooms are available. We stayed in the "Elvis Room" (only because Marylin was occupied). We ate at several great restaurants like the "Roadkill Cafe" and "Westside Lilo's." Kim told us a secret. If you'll show them your Deluxe Inn key, they'll knock 10% off your bill. Don't...

If you're coming to Seligman expecting luxury amenities and spa robes, you're missing the point â and frankly, you're missing the magic. The Deluxe Inn is a time capsule, and that's exactly why we chose to stay here.
This isnât a chain hotel with a continental breakfast and a pool. Itâs a slice of Route 66 history, right in the heart of one of the most iconic towns on the road. The rooms are simple, spotless, and surprisingly comfortable â the bed gave us a great nightâs sleep, and everything was impeccably clean. You can tell the owners care deeply about this place.
Yes, itâs âno frillsâ â but thatâs what makes it so special. Youâre not paying for extras you wonât use. Youâre paying for location, nostalgia, and the rare feeling of stepping back into a slower, more genuine time. From the neon signs outside to the friendly check-in, everything about our stay felt authentic.
Some of the lower star reviews seem to miss the point. This is not a resort â itâs a road trip stop for people who appreciate history, character, and good old-fashioned hospitality. For us, Deluxe Inn was a highlight of our trip, and weâd stay again in...
Read moreThe people at Deluxe Inn are genuinely good people who really care. That was my experience while staying at Deluxe Inn.
Outside, the place is a cute antique of the old days of Route 66. Inside, the owners have updated the rooms. Nothing fancy, but they are newly refurbished, immaculately clean, and have all the standard things that you need from a comfortable hotel room.
What I really want to rave about is how amazingly helpful and awesome the owners are. They are a couple who run the place themselves. During my stay, they helped me resolve a couple of very urgent problems. These were my problems, and they werenât easy problems to fix. The owners werenât obligated to jump to my rescue, but they did. They are awesome.
I also want to say something about the trains. Yes, there are railroad tracks near the hotel. They run parallel to Route 66 through most of the area, so it is a fact of life. But there is no crossing near the hotel, so the trains do not blow their horns. At most, you can hear a faint rumble as they pass - a lot like a distant rain storm. It was no problem, and I...
