Disappointing Experience at a Historic Inn
I recently stayed at this historic inn, and while I understand that properties of this age come with their quirks, my experience left much to be desired.
Firstly, the wall sconces in the room were not functional in the way you would expect. When pulling the chain to turn them on, instead of illuminating, the cheap round LED light fell off the top. The dim light provided was controlled by a button, which, frankly, was both ineffective and aesthetically unpleasing.
Additionally, both beds were equipped with plastic mattress covers, which gave the room a feeling reminiscent of staying at a grandparentâs house â and not in a nostalgic or charming way. These covers creaked loudly with every movement throughout the night, disrupting sleep, while the fitted sheet constantly slid off the slippery mattress cover.
To make matters worse, the clean bath towels were folded and left⊠on the bathroom floor. Not only is this unhygienic, but itâs also deeply unsettling to think that one would be expected to use towels left on a hotel bathroom floor. It begs the question â would anyone really feel comfortable drying off with these after stepping out of a shower?
While the bathroom did show some expected signs of age, such as peeling paint on the door, this can be forgiven given the innâs 100+ years of history. However, what cannot be overlooked is the lack of basic service during our three-night stay. The room was never serviced; no fresh linens, no bed-making, and no replenishing of amenities.
The information binder in the room mentioned a âsmall breakfastâ available each morning, but in reality, nothing was provided except a few leftover cookies from the previous night. This is hardly what one would expect from a place claiming to offer breakfast of any kind, and it certainly did not meet any reasonable standard. The Verandaâs information binder should be updated to reflect the absence of breakfast. That way, at least if there is no breakfast, it wonât leave guests with a taste of disappointment.
Lastly, the roomâs TV setup was less than impressive. The television sat on the mantle, with its cord hanging down the wall, plugged into a surge protector that dangled unsightly from the wall. This was not only tacky, but it also undermined the innâs historic charm.
Overall, this stay was a major letdown, and I would not recommend it to anyone seeking a comfortable or even remotely pleasant experience. The historic charm simply isnât enough to make up for the myriad of issues I encountered...
Read moreWe made a spontaneous, unplanned trip recently and ended up in this beautiful little town of Senoia, GA. Neither of us had ever stayed in a B&B or Inn like this, so we decided to give it a try. I read a lot of the reviews and had mixed feelings. I wasn't sure what to expect. Right away, the customer service impressed me. The lady went out of her way to make sure we had a room with a TV so we could catch the Alabama game. RollTide đ and yes, they have YouTube TV ! However not all rooms have a TV. Thankfully, we got the last room available for the night, and it came with a TV. We stayed in (Carl's room) from the TWD show. RM #7 (not haunted) The bed was very comfortable. The room was in original antique decorations. There was no extra anything. No iron & board , but I didn't need that anyway. They only had 1 roll of toilet paper, so we had to ask for another just to be on the safe side. I didn't like the shower curtain touching me while I showered, but other than those two things, we enjoyed it. There are some ghost stories from certain rooms, but we didn't experience anything. The best part of our stay was the breakfast. It was beyond my expectations. Blueberry pancakes, eggs, sausage, grits, fresh fruits, and the best PEACH COBBLER đ đ. It was nice seeing other couples there. The front porch is a wrap around and very spacious. There is plenty of seating to enjoy the view. Lots of restaurants in walking distance and gift shops. It's the cutest town ever. I was so surprised to see all the movies filmed there. Everything is walkable from the Inn. We will def be back, and we plan to stay here again...
