The lobby appeared clean and updated. Things went downhill quickly from there. The hallway smelled very strong of air freshener. Very overwhelming and unpleasant. The lights in the hallway had so many dead bugs in them, it was obvious they hadn’t been cleaned in a very long time. I forgot to take a picture. The door to our room didn’t seem very secure. It wasn’t until we turned the lights off to go to sleep when we noticed that we could see light from the hallway all around the door. We had to use an iPad to watch Monday night football. We called the front desk and were told that only the first floor gets those channels. Wait, what? I’m pretty sure that Monday night football is on one of the major networks. One would assume that if you are selecting a room with a King bed, there will likely be two people staying. There was a bed and only one chair. There’s room for two chairs. Be careful in the pool area. The steps entering the hot tub and the flooring around the entire pool area are very slippery. The pool is nice and it’s heated. Look, I had something positive to say about this place. During our first breakfast, there was nobody tending to the breakfast bar. Nobody available to ask questions or restock. I have pictures of the following issues: Heat sensor damaged. Disgusting, dirty, non-functioning light/fan combo in bathroom. Ceiling issues in the room and bathroom. Sign taped to a door saying updates are being made that looks like it’s been there for at least a year. No updates were happening during our stay. The sign is torn, has stains on it and the tape adhering it to the door is all wrinkled.
I hope someone takes the time to read this and address the issues. There were less expensive options when we were booking our hotel, but I assumed that being part of a “chain” would ensure Quality as the name implies. I was disappointed with our stay at...
Read moreExtremely disappointed. Buyer beware. We overpaid ($188/night) for 2 nights and were so disappointed that we cut our losses after the first night and left. The cost of the room did not align with the expectations of standards. I implore management and the Choice Hotels leadership to take a serious review of what is going on at this location. Photos used to represent the property are not even close to the reality of the situation. Arrived in time to go to bed, so tried to make the best of it and overlooked the obvious issues upon arrival; dirty, stained carpets in the hallways/stairwells, broken doors, cloudy windows & broken bathroom tiles. Were able to justify that it might be ok since the air conditioning worked and the room was big-ish, we had paid for 2 nights and also wanted to keep our kids calm about the experience and just get through the night. The next morning we got up and out quickly, with all four of us having our own internal dialogues justifying that it was ok. Our breakfast conversations (NOT at the hotel) revealed a combination of issues that tipped the scales and shed more light on the issues we overlooked the night before: dead bug on desk chair, new bug bites that we didn't have the day before and the final straw was blood spattered above the toilet and on the ceiling. It didn't take long to realize that we were not going to let the tone impact our weekend in Burlington so negatively. We made the decision to move our things out and take the loss on the cost. We told the lady at the front desk that we were checking out, that it wasn't working for us, and she said to just leave the cards in the room; no attempt at understanding why we'd walk away from the expensive pre-paid room. I also do not want other families to get caught in this misrepresentation and have their trip to the Burlington area spoiled by this...
Read moreEach summer I attend Middlebury College and stay here pre- and/or post-study. My friend and I enjoy the convenient location just outside of Burlington. There are stores and restaurants along the strip and it is easy access to the airport, malls, and the city. Be sure to check out Pauline's for good, local food.
The rooms are comfortable and spacious with a refrigerator, microwave, and TV. Some of the local channels on the lower end didn't come in, but it wasn't a major concern. This facility is rated as a gold star complex. It definitely shows in their desk staff and breakfast buffet. Every time we arrive, the receptionists are friendly and welcoming. In fact, as a Choice Member, we are given a goodie bag. Also, the breakfast is one of our favorites in the chain because there is a lot of variety (including both a waffle and pancake maker). It is also staffed and the buffet is kept stocked and the area clean. We always leave breakfast satisfied! Recently, they extended the hours from a 9 am close to 10 am. Very customer friendly.
This last visit, there was a family with a young child above our room. When the child kept jumping and bumping around so much that I couldn't get any rest, I contacted the front desk and they followed up with the family on my behalf. The situation improved and they promised to monitor the noise level.
There is a business area with Internet access and a printer. Off-street parking is included, but can be tight when they are full. The rooms are located in adjacent buildings, so you may have to walk around to get to your room. Also, we noticed that the entry ways are not secured at night. Anyone could enter the hallways, but perhaps it isn't an issue...
