Our bed was visibly dirty (yellow crusted stain, dirty spots and hair still on the sheets. There was also tissue left in the toilet. My daughter was taking her shower when I discovered the bed. I called the front desk and told the attendant (Shay) about my room. She asked me to bring all of my things down and she would switch my room. I tried to wait for my daughter to finish her shower so we could pack up our things and go back to the front desk, but then I called the front desk back and asked if I could just get the new key and move my things in the other room without having to bring all my bags down. She asked what was going on that was causing the delay in me coming down. I explained that my daughter was in the shower. She told me I could come down, but she really wanted me to turn in the old key before she gave us the new key. I told her it was more convenient to get the new key, move my things in the new room, then return the old key. When I got there, she said (with judgment) "You feel comfortable leaving your daughter in the room while you switch rooms?" I don't even know why she felt that was necessary to ask or even her business. I said, "My daughter is grown." Then she laid the new card on the desk and said, "Get the other cards to me quickly, please and thank you." (again with attitude). It is after midnight, I just had a flat tire, had to catch an uber to the hotel after having to tow my vehicle to a repair shop, now my bed is disgusting and Shay had the nerve to act like I am inconveniencing her. I told her to worry about why my bed is dirty instead getting these room keys back. When I went back to take the old keys down, another guy was standing there, so I asked if he was the manager. He said no, but the manager would be in in the morning. I asked him what was Shay's name (because at that time I did not know what her name was); mind you she is standing there with her back turned the entire time while I'm asking for her name. She was standing right behind the guy listening. When he told me her name, she turned around with a big fake smile asking how could she help me. I continued talking to him saying "I'll let the manager know how I was treated by Shay." She said "How did I treat you ma'am?" I walked off and I heard her snicker and say something so I turned around and she was talking about me. She didn't know I had come back. When she turned around and saw me, I said, "That right there Shay is what you did to me," and I walked off. The new room was fine, and Shay was right back at work the next morning pretending to be super nice, but that kindness would have been better had she just given me my new room without an attitude or if the room I got would have actually been cleaned properly. I will not be going back to that...
Read moreMy husband and I come drive through this area several times a year and decided to stay in Shreveport and booked a King room at the HIlton Garden Inn. We usually stay at Hampton Inns, but there were no kings available. We came through late; about 11 pm that night. I received an email confirmation, but at check in, the staff experience felt very deceptive. |There was no mention at check in that there were no Kings available. She checked us in & gave us a key. Again, we were tired, it was 11 pm, went to the 2nd floor, opened our room only to discover it was a double room.|We went back downstairs and spoke to the same staff member. I showed her my confirmation and asked why we were given a double when we booked a king. What she said felt deceptive and made little sense. She said their “system allows a room type to be booked even though it’s not available.” To be clear, we booked directly with Hilton & not a 3rd party website. I asked if there are any Kings available. She said “no”, then did something on the computer, took our room keys, scratched out the room # and then gave it back to us. No apology, no clarification as to what happened; nothing. We thanked her and went back up to the 2nd floor. The room we were provided, was a king suite. Our understanding was that there were no available Kings, so we were given a king suite. |By the time we got around to settling in and taking a shower, it was about midnight. There was absolutely no hot water! We went to bed hoping there would be hot water in the morning.|We woke at 6, only to discover there was still no hot water! Frustrated, we checked out and told the staff member (a male attendant) that we were not satisfied at all with the water situation and the check in process.|He asked why we didn’t come down last night, and we would have been given a new room. We told him about our strange check in experience and that we were told there were no kings available. He looked at us in surprise, and said there “were plenty of Kings available” and that what the female attendant told us about their system allowing us to book a room that may not be available was nonsense. He did comp us $100 for our trouble, but to be honest with the deception, I don’t know that we would stay here again.|I think we will stick with Hampton Inn, especially since breakfast is part of the room cost and bottled waters are complimentary. We drank 1 bottle of water that was placed in our room and now have a $3 extra debit charge on...
Read moreWorst Hilton I've ever been in. The lobby is decent, the outside is decent but that is it. The first room was dirty, the toilet lid didn't even fit the bowl (round on an oval bowl) the TV remote didn't work, the walls were cracked, needed painting, needesn new carpet and the bedding was filthy, we had them remake it in front of us. The next day after complaining we were moved to a new room, assured it was a mistake and the next room would be nice. It was not. There were ants all over the room which they tried to spray with our young children in the room, obviously I did not allow that. The drapes had large holes torn in them, the room was again not clean, but not filthy, the phone was disassembled completely, no doubt the last resident's prank but goes to show you how well the cleaning staff does their job. We were next to a high school wrestling team who wrestled and blared loud music all night. Only after a few calls made to the front desk (via cell since our phone was in pieces) was this issue remedied. Oh, and the towel racks for the fresh towels in all the rooms are INSIDE the shower so they got splashed every shower. I've never even heard of that before! We thought maybe we were just unlucky twice, but in speaking to the other guests, at breakfast the next morning they were ALL complaining of similar issues. We checked out that day cutting our stay short due to the lousy conditions. The Motel 6 next door would have been better and MUCH cheaper. Upon checkout they tried to charge us for both nights in stead of the first being free as we were told. I explained that they were lucky I was paying them at all and not calling a health inspector. They took the first night off the bill. Outside they were flying the US Flag at half staff but the Louisiana and Hilton flags were both at full staff. my wife went in and explained the error because as a Combat Infantry Veteran I was furious at this, on top of the rest of the issues, I was fresh out of patience. Some of their personnel were polite and apologetic and seemingly cared about their jobs while about half were flippant and snarky; annoyed that I was interrupting their time on their cell phone with a complaint or question. I have not stayed at another Hilton since and probably will not in the future. I never have issues such as these at the Marriotts. I'd avoid this place were I you ladies...
