The worst experience we ever had with Airbnb started when the host (rental office) provided the wrong set of keys. Since the door had three locks, we didn’t realize we had the wrong keys right away. Our check-in day fell on a Sunday, and there was nobody in the office to help us. It took 50 (!) minutes until somebody showed up to unlock the door. The place clearly hasn’t been cleaned in weeks (including the linens), we were very disappointed from the first day. The second day they sent a cleaning lady but she did an awful job, so we had to wash the floor ourselves afterwards. We didn't even receive an apology. The rules say only one roll of toilet paper and one roll of paper towel per stay, are you kidding? For a 1-month rental with 4 people costing $6,500? Of course I can buy extras, but it's about the customer service. The place didn't have drain stoppers for either of the bathtubs, nor did it have a vacuum, a kettle, or a cutting board. The host takes no responsibility for anything. Unfortunately, only complaints to Airbnb can make them do what they are supposed to do. For example, the drain stoppers they eventually provided didn't even fit. The cookware set has a scratched toxic nonstick Teflon coating. The a/c air handler is located right in the dining area and is very noisy. Lastly, there was construction going on outside the building even on weekends, which was very noisy and caused a lot of dust, ruining the peaceful atmosphere. The location is great, actually every place in Siesta Key is great, isn't it? :) Luckily, we made the best of the stay and enjoyed the positives like spending time on the beach and...
Read moreMy wife and I just spent 16 days in Harbor Towers #414. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The condo was nice and the owner even sent us a new blender when the other one didn’t work. 414 is perfect for two people, and we loved the lanai, although it never got the sun. Harbor Towers as a whole is excellent. The staff and the residents were all very welcoming and helpful. The pool area is beautiful, albeit a little small for a building of this size. We especially liked sitting in the bayside area - quieter and more peaceful, especially in the afternoon. Our main concern is that even though it advertises easy access to the beach ( and the picture of the property is a bit misleading), it is not convenient to get to the public beach. All the properties across the street are private, so you have to walk quite a ways to a public beach, or try and park in the massive public parking lots. The main draw of going to Siesta Key is the beach ( and certainly not the traffic gridlock). Our other main obstacle to returning is the upcoming two year project to replace the windows. We have been in a building with such a project and it is annoying to say the least.
So, all in all, we loved our stay, and hope to return in a...
Read more"Pool closes at 10" as well as many other reasons to avoid renting here. Overpriced rentals with domineering management and board members that all lead to a subpar vacation. Unless you're 90 years old, and just want to sit in your moldy room with chipping paint and faulty non-grounded outlets to watch Fox news on a 42 inch television from 2005, then stay far away. Everything is so outdated and trashy- the community room smelled like mildew, they had duct tape holding the back door handle on the main floor together, and there were framing nails and garbage on the bathroom floors. There was a ton of black mold all over the unit. We were told to leave one of the closet doors open because the air intake was in it. One of the room doors was off its bottom hinge when we came, and we had to fix it ourselves for it to shut. It was a poor decision coming here, please learn...
