My review is for the resort as a whole, and also units 7-102 and 7-103.
The resort was very nice. It has gated entry and good parking options (reserved and open). Building 7 is near the road, but it's not noisy (except occasional police sirens). It was clean and has a resort feel. There are at least two areas to grill (one on the sun deck near the beach, and another near building 7). We went in mid June and it was not crowded at all, in fact my teenagers were a little disappointed there weren't more kids around. There are no resort organized activities or events, at least not while we were there. The club house is simple but has coffee and a large tv and a rack of flyers with area attractions. There are two doors of entry, but only one was unlocked for access. There are a lot of small lizards and frogs around which the kids loved. There is security staffed (allowing for late check in). Security is nice and very helpful. Guests wear wrist bands for access to pool and beach. There is a security guard at the pool entrance. There are three or four gate entries to the pool area, with child locks, but only one of the gates was ever unlocked for access. The pool and hot tub and the area are clean. The pool is warm, almost too warm, and the hot tub is scorching hot. They both close at 10pm, even on weekends, which was a bummer - there were always people swimming at closing time. The sun deck is clean and nice for watching sunset. Beach access is excellent. Clean, beautiful beach. Chairs are free with a wrist band, and we were told they run out around 9 or 10 am, but by the time we got to the beach each day around noon, there were always abandoned chairs for us to grab. There are umbrellas available to rent, as well as kayaks and SUPs. The beach is not crowded, and is much nicer than the public beach or the beach just north of the public beach.
7-102. We originally booked this unit b/c it had more beds. But we only stayed in it for a day b/c we were so disappointed with it. It is not very modern, and didn't feel clean. The furniture was falling apart and stained. The carpet was old and stained, and the dishes and pans were dirty. No ocean views. It did have a beach umbrella tho. It wasnt disgusting, but it wasn't nice. Has a washer and dryer in the unit. The two queen beds are very comfortable! And for the same price you can get a much nicer unit.
7-103. We moved to 7-103 and loved it. It's been updated and remodeled. Has granite and stainless steel, and tile floors thru out. It had fewer beds, but had two pull out couches. There were a few spiders in the unit. But the kitchen was well appointed, had everything we needed. The only food items provided were sale and pepper. We also had to buy replacement trash bags and toilet paper and paper towels, and laundry detergent. Has a washer and dryer in the unit. The mattresses were all just ok, the beds are all VERY squeaky every time you move, there are three tvs in the unit. There were no beach items for use, but we left behind a rolling cooler, two boogie boards, and sand castle toys. There was plenty of bedding and towels, although we fid have to run a beach towel load mid week. No ocean views. Comfortable couches, nice dining table set up with stocked China hutch. The security doors is very stiff and slams shut (seemed like it could slice a foot off if you're not careful), and the deadbolt was hard to use, which made it tricky to lick upon leaving. We would definitely rent this unit again. If we could get closer to the beach, or s beach view, for the same price, I'd...
Read moreWe had a very disappointing experience and have been going to Siesta Dunes for years. In the past, the staff has been wonderful. However, this year a complete 180- not sure if they can’t find decent people or what- Today was a perfect beach day (day after thanksgiving) so prime time. The beach chairs were still locked up at noon so we went to the pool. The pool was 68 degrees, so not heated, and the kids would go in the hot tub to warm up- and the security guard came and booted all the kids out saying it is only for adults. There is only one hot tub. Have you ever tried to swim in a 68 degree pool for an extended period of time? Hypothermia will start to set in after an hour. Pay to heat the pool or let kids warm up in the only hot tub.
A bit later in the day at the pool the security fella said my 3 year old son could not have his flotation board in the pool. It was not a raft but a 20” kickboard.
That evening we went down for sunset and my parents joined us and Chris who collects the chairs for siesta Dunes at night told my parents they could not have any chairs bc it was too close to sunset- 20 minutes away. I thought there had to be a miscommunication and so I went up to get them chairs and nope- he told me the same thing. Unbelievable! Never been so disappointed in the staff at a place in years. Oh well- probably will find a new place to vacation after coming here for a decade as we love siesta key. In fact, we still came with the looming risk of red tide and that was not a major problem for us on our trip but the awfull staff here at...
Read moreAbsolutely loved Siesta Dunes Condominiums. Our condo was a beautiful split plan with an open feel and more than enough room to feel like a home. Great ocean views of Crescent Beach from our balcony & inside our 2nd eating area. The view from our bed was perfection. The second bedroom had an ocean view as well! The beach sand is heavenly and being cool to walk on is rare. The water was as close to the Caribbean as we have gotten so far. Siesta Dunes takes great pride in their beach layout and it is not chaotic & obtrusive rows deep of umbrellas & awnings like the other places we saw near our condo. Love Siesta Key feel of the town. Great restaurants. The only downside is as a possible future 2nd home/rental opportunity not being able to take our dogs on Crescent Beach or ANY Sarosota beach for that matter is a no sale for us sadly. The closet beach you can take your pup to is almost 4 hours away in Venice Florida. If you want an amazing place to vacation THIS is your place. If you are looking to have a rental/winter home and have pups you love and want to take to the beach this is NOT it. Respect the way the county wants to keep the beaches nice etc. And it is worth it to visit for sure! We just know we can only vacation...
