Hotel has underground parking garage with LOW clearance, I am 5' 1" and could reach up and touch the pipes. There are signs everywhere staring two things..."Compact cars only" and "Not Responsible for theft or damage to vehicle" this makes you feel uneasy about the area but it didn't seem to have any issues while we were there. I was concerned about the ticket machine not issuing any tickets and pressing the live help button got no response. I was worried if I didn't have a parking ticket that my car would be towed. This also didn't seem to be the case. We got to the lobby and it was very nice and were handed warm cookies by the desk clerk and check in went well. She was very friendly but I didn't catch her name. However, when we arrived to the floor we were staying on, (15), you could tell that the hotel was a bit rundown. There were runs in the carpets in the hallways and peeling wallpaper. The doors to the rooms had been repainted then shut with wet paint because they stuck horribly to the door frames and you had to shoulder the door to get in. The first room we got was correct that it was a king room with a city view but it was never cleaned from the last guest. The bed was slept in, there were towels on the floor and trash near the can. We went back to the lobby and she apologized profusely and said the computer said that room had been cleaned. She comped us breakfast for the mistake ($32 for 2) and gave us another room. This room, on the 5th floor, was a double with no city view. It was clean and had a couch put in an odd corner where you couldn't even use half the couch (see photos). We went back to the lobby again and received our 3rd room key. This one was on the 16th floor, was cleaned and was a king with a city view. We didn't know however til much later that the A/C didn't work properly and didn't cool the room. On the way to this room a maintenance man was working in another room and from the reviews we now have read this hotel seems to have issues with their A/C units working properly in the rooms. The TV remote was hard to use with the TV as you couldn't pick channels to watch by selecting them on the guide itself. You had to manually enter the channel number. Never had that before. Despite all this, the bed was extremely comfortable with extra comfy pillows. The room was extremely spacious besides the bathroom which was super small and crowded. The door almost touched the toilet when open. I wish they would have taken a little more space from the room and added it to the bathroom. The shower was a nice glass enclosure in both king rooms but not the double. The water pressure was beyond awesome, especially for this size hotel and on the 16th floor. The room was nicely cleaned and void of certain "stains" we all don't want to see. There were some rust stains on the carpet. It was nice and quiet while we stayed there and didn't hear our neighbors at all. Our night was uneventful which was great. The next morning, we came down to eat breakfast and were told we were not comped the breakfast. We went back to the front desk where another lady had recognized us from the previous day. She reassured us we would not be charged and walked us back to the breakfast area and told the lady to waive the breakfast for us. She said we would get a bill to sign but would not be charged. The breakfast was very good and everything you could expect for a $16 per person meal. I recommend the blueberry muffins. Checkout seemed okay. However when I checked my bank account later I saw I was charged the $32 for breakfast after all as well as I was charged a different amount than my final bill stated. I was immediately upset and called the hotel, Muhammad was pretty rude in stating that the breakfast charge was already reversed and would credit back in a few days (should have never been charged in the first place!) He also was rude in stating that I was charged an incidental fee that "every" hotel charges though I was not made aware of this previously nor signed anything accepting this fee. And not "every" hotel...
Read moreI’ve stayed at a lot of hotels since I was a child. This is the first time that I’ve ever felt like I was being talked down to by hotel staff. We checked in on New Years Eve at the Double Tree by Hilton Silver Springs North. and check in was great. There were a lot of people there, which was to be expected because it was New Years Eve. The young man that checked us in was named Amadou and he was initially very nice, despite how busy they were. The following morning, we asked a woman at the front desk, who was EXTREMELY polite and helpful, if we could have an extended stay. The woman stated that normally they do not do extended stays, but she would allow us to stay until 2pm. When we offered to pay for an additional charge for a prolonged stay bc we would need to stay until 5pm, she told us not to worry about it, because of being Hilton Honors members, and that as an exception for this time only she would let us stay until 5pm with no extra charge. We were very appreciative as she was so pleasant. She informed someone at housekeeping that we were given an extended stay and gave us a key that would allow us to stay until 5pm, no later. That same day at about 1pm, a gentleman from housekeeping knocked on our door and we informed him that we had been given an extended stay until 5pm and he said he would check on our stay. The same gentleman came back to our room about 2 hours later and banged on our door arguing with us that we had to check out, and we informed him once again, that we had been given an extended stay. We later proceeded to leave the hotel and check out at 4:50pm on January 1st. This was before 5pm just as was agreed with the Front Desk agent. I had received an email stating that we had booked another night (from 01/01 to 01/02) and checked in at 4:13pm on January 1, 2023, even though we had not checked out yet at that time and never agreed to booking another reservation. We informed the front desk associate named Amadou of the mix up at checkout and told him that we were given an extended stay because we were Hilton Honors members and he said, “We do not give extended stays and there are other people that are much higher in the Hilton Honors program than you anyway.” This was an extremely rude and demeaning comment. We left after being told that we were “checked out and all set” thinking that the issue of the new booking had been cancelled. The next day, I received an email for the second reservation stating that we had checked in on 01/01/2023 at 4:13pm and checked out on 01/02/2023 at 11:21am. This means that someone irresponsibly and deceptively booked us to stay another night in that same room and then checked us out at 11:21am on January 2nd even though we had checked out of our original reservation on 01/01/2023 at 4:50pm. We proceeded to call the Double Tree Hotel the following day on January 2nd and the person at the front desk was not helpful. He stated that manager was unavailable and that he would call us back but he never did. We proceeded to call again on January 3rd and then we met Ethiopia, a front desk Assistant Manager, who helped us and was extremely polite, kind and respectful. She cancelled the extra charges and the extra reservation and resolved our issue. If not for her, this hotel would’ve been given a 1 star review. I love Hilton and I will continue to use Hilton. However, it was my first time staying at a Double Tree, and I will not stay at one again. Thanks to Ethiopia and any other staff for the kindness and all of the help they...
Read moreWe reserved this specific hotel because they had a suite available for pretty inexpensive via Expedia. We are a family of 6 with 2 young's kids so it was the perfect configuration for us. And for such a good price!
This was a family trip to visit the Washington DC Temple of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They had a free open house (beautiful btw) and to visit historic sites.
When we arrived we realized construction was going on but had a hard time figuring out where to park until we found the parking in the basement. Luckily we didn't have a luggage carrier because the clearance on our Toyota Highlander was only about 10inches. Special note about the parking deck: they make explicitly clear 2 things: All spaces are for compact cars (even though a majority were midsize SUVs They reiterate over and over again how they are not liable for any theft. We didn't have a problem with feeling unsafe but we locked up all our stuff just in case. Only the signs made us feels this way.
Also, a note on the parking, you're charged a fee of $10 parking. We didn't realize that.
The highlights: -close to metro station. We have 4 kids (2 in strollers) and it was a nice walk though across some busy streets. -chocolate chip cookies upon check in -the staff (shout out to Ethiopia, she was great!)
The downsides: Surprise 🥳 the breakfast you thought was free actually cost you $20/$16 per adult/child! pay for parking many reviews have said it before but this hotel just isn't ready for guests in max capacity. We checked in but got to our room late, around 9p, after a full day, ready to put our kids to bed. When we got to the room it was about 80 degrees while outside was at 75. We thought the air was off so we turned it on via the wall thermostat and went to explore the rooms. The main room was missing the additional pull out couch and they didn't have our pack and play as requested. After 2 trips to the front desk, an increase of 9 degrees (89 F for those keeping score at home), 2 hours of waiting on and watching the repair man fix the AC, and waiting on linens for the pull our beds we found out a few things: a) multiple rooms, not just ours, we're having air conditioning problems. According to the front desk lady she said she texted her GM about the issue and all he responded was "change in seasons". Nope, this happens every year, you should be able to anticipate it. b) they didn't provide -or didn't know- actual blankets for the pull out beds, just a lot of sheets they called blankets -freah from the dryer though!- c) our air conditioner was broken beyond repair and needed to be replaced completely, both of them, and they didn't have a replacement AND d) they ALMOST didn't have another room for us. We got another JR. Suite with air-conditioning (though it was just barely enough) and another hour later all were asleep.
The next morning I talked to the front desk and told them about my situation. They were incredibly sympathetic, and apologetic and not only provided free breakfast for the family but also accommodated us accordingly where both parties felt fair at the end.
Over all: The staff were great: front desk, food staff in the morning, even the repair guy and the house keeping who thought sheets were blankets. They truly wanted to help.
The accommodations: Not ready for full occupancy.
