I really wanted to like this place. I think the food could be good, but the service was so bad that it detracted from the food. My wife’s order was messed up and we waited 45 minutes for the food and even longer for a cup of black coffee.

Upon entry it isn’t clear if it is self seating, order at the counter, or what is going on. We ordered at the counter and found our own seat—at a table that hadn’t been bussed in the 10 minutes we waited in line to order. We had to ask them to bus and clean the table and saw this multiple times during our visit.

Ordering at the counter was fine, but it was apparent the organization for orders was nowhere to be found. This turned out to be true when the one waitress, who was the lone bright spot in our experience, came and asked us what we ordered and apologized profusely about our experience. It was clear by the frustration in her face when we explained what happened that this was standard operating procedure.

Finally our food showed up and it left something to be desired. From the residual towel lint on the plates to the messed up egg order and burnt pancakes it is a struggle to give this restaurant a good review. The eggs Benedict was good and the coffee was hot—when it finally showed up.

I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt for having recently opened, but if there isn’t a change to the operation it is clear this place won’t last long. The food has potential, but is not anywhere close to good enough to make up for slow, lacking service. Recommend hiring a host/hostess, busser, and expediter and paying for a professional to train the staff using a system to maximize effectiveness and smooth out...

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5-Star Review for Café K Restaurant – A Must-Visit in Silver Spring! If you're in Silver Spring, Café K Restaurant at 1300 Spring Street is a must-visit. This place is a total gem — from the moment you arrive, it's easy to see why there’s often a line out the door. The waiting line says it all — people are willing to wait because they know they’re in for something special. The location is perfect — right in the heart of downtown Silver Spring, making it super convenient whether you're a local or just passing through. Step inside and you're greeted with a stunning, modern designer interior that feels both chic and welcoming. It’s the kind of space where you’ll want to stay a while. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, and the service is consistently exceptional. You’re made to feel valued from start to finish, whether it’s your first visit or repeat. And the menu? Absolutely fantastic. There’s a wide range of choices, all made with high-quality ingredients and presented beautifully. Everything we tried was full of flavor and clearly prepared with care. Plus, the coffee is outstanding — rich, smooth, and expertly crafted. It easily rivals any specialty café in the area. With amazing food, warm service, and a stylish atmosphere, Café K is the kind of place you’ll want to come back to again and again. That line out front?...

The cafe itself has a good amount of space both inside and out for table service and a counter for those on the go. The owner was friendly and made a point to chat with customers. The staff were polite and well trained.

For food we opted for the French Toast and an Omelette Bagel. 10 minutes max from order to eating. The French toast was two large eggy slices of challah and absolutely delicious. An option to add some fresh berries for a small up charge would be nice. For the bagel omelette I opted for everything and added feta to the omelette. I’d be lying if I said it was anything exceptional. Just a relatively small egg omelette with a bit of feta on a bagel. Adding some arugula or sautéed veggies would add some more character to an otherwise “meh” sandwich. Totally a personal thing, but the bagel was more of a soft bread bagel than a chewy NY style bagel I’ve come to prefer. I wish I had gone for the shakshuka instead, but c’est la vie.

The coffee was great. Also about 10 minutes from order to arrival at our table. I’m sure that’ll speed up as they’re open longer. We got a skim milk latte and an oat milk flat white. Both were very well made and reasonably priced.

For anyone looking for breakfast or coffee at a reasonable price in a nice atmosphere with friendly staff, check...

I finally visited Café K for the first time and it did not disappoint! The food was excellent, the service was great, and the ambiance was wonderful as well. (The decor is modern, the vibe is great, and the mirrored walls in the front make the space feel like it’s even bigger when it’s already a good size. Plus there’s great outdoor seating which we’ll have to take advantage of next time.) I went with my wife for a quick lunch and it was exactly what we needed—beginning with our food coming promptly, right up until them getting us the check expeditiously because we were in a rush to leave to make it on time to a camp pickup. Shai, Tara, Dan, and the rest of the staff took great care of us—and we can’t wait to come again! (P.S. the Pretzel Truffle [pictured] is HIGHLY recommended!)

Yay for another kosher restaurant in the Greater DC area! Today marks day 2 since opening day, yesterday, and things seem to be going well! A friend and I met for brunch. We had the “crunchy croissant,” pappardalle pasta, Bulgarian shakshuka, a chocolate croissant and a cinnamon roll danish. My friend also had a delicious latte. The mains all came out pretty quickly and were presented nicely. Overall the food was tasty. I will say that the pesto in the croissant and in the shakshuka tasted like a jarred pesto to me, which was disappointing; however, everything else seemed fresh and delicious. You can tell there are still a few kinks being worked out with service and ambiance but overall we had a great experience and can’t wait to come back to try more of the menu offerings.

Ordered 2 bagels with lox, cream cheese, lettuce, tomato, and red onion — waited 25 minutes, only to get bagels that weren’t toasted, barely had any cream cheese, and were missing the tomato *and* red onion. Also ordered a chocolate chip muffin, which *also* took 25 minutes… just for them to grab it off the shelf and hand it to us. 😅 (At least the muffin was actually decent.) I get that they’re new and probably still figuring things out, but 25+ mins for a messed-up bagel order and a shelf muffin isn’t exactly a great start. Hoping they improve, but not sure I’ll be rushing back anytime soon.
