First off, let me say this salon doesn't deserve ANY stars.
When booking an appointment, I called to ask if they had any openings for the upcoming weekend. The lady said she did. So I asked to book an appointment for Saturday. She said "ok, that's fine." That was it. Didn't ask for my name, number or anything. That should've raised red flags.
That Saturday, I walked in and was hardly greeted. I stood there awkwardly until the lady asked what I was there for. I told her I had an appointment at 11. She looked confused. She asked what I wanted and then immediately followed up with "wash and set." I agreed. Should've walked out but no. I stayed.
The lady that washed my hair seemed friendly; however, the wash was so messy. I almost had water in my eyes. It gets worse...much worse.
Some time after my hair was washed and deep conditioned (which was offered to raise cost, I'm sure), she cleaned my ears with the towel. I looked at the towel just to see if there was any wax to save myself any embarrassment. I was MORTIFIED by what I found. There was enough earwax to make a 16 oz. candle!!! It wasn't mine; it was on the opposite side of the towel. Basically, the side that was on my back! They gave me a dirty towel on purpose because they HAD to know it was dirty. THEY JUST HAD TO. I'm sure that's a health violation right there!
After deep conditioning treatment, the lady that "greeted" me earlier came over and vigorously raked her fingers through my hair. Very rough. She said, matter-of-factly, "you have nice hair." Guess she was expecting it to be more coarse? Hm.
Styling was no better. A lot of heat was used which I was expecting...what I wasn't expecting was getting burned! There was a burn mark on my forehead that was strategically covered by my hair. The style itself was horrible. I looked like James Brown at Sunday service. It gets worse...trust me.
I went to pay and everything, wash, deep condition, style. It came up to $75. Some way, some how. Should've asked how much it cost upfront, silly me. I had the nerve to tip $10. Didn't even deserve the $75! Hell, I shouldn't even have stepped foot in there!
HANDS DOWN, the WORST salon experience I ever endured. It was so bad, I almost forgot my card leaving the shop!...
Read moreI literally walked out of here. I've been here a couple of times because it's close by. But their service is horrible! I walked in and they looked straight at me, never acknowledged a customer when they walk in. I was sitting for 2 min and one of the ladies finished with one of her customers. She walks past me and just sits in front of the desk. Like I wasn't even there, never even asked what I was there for ?! She clearly saw me when I walked in, has seen me before and knows I want my hair blow dried. After 40 MINUTES sitting there looking stupid, another customer walks in and she immediately asked what she needed and started helping her. She walks past me and says "one of the other ladies can help you when they're done". What a female dog to be honest. I walked out disgusted with their service. At my job, I am #1 at Customer Service, these women know nothing of it. It's common decency to greet a customer when you see them walk in, not make them sit for 40min without even asking. I'm going back to my original hair lady in DC. They are called GOLDEN SCISSORS, Dominican hair styling and they KNOW customer service excellence at that. AND they have more decent prices, unlike this salon that is so expensive for no reason. Maybe men get treated better because they have different hair stylists in a different section. Good for you all! But the women, unbelievable. GO TO GOLDEN SCISSORS in Mt Pleasant DC IF YOU WANT YOUR HAIR DONE JUST AS GOOD, with...
Read moreFirst and foremost, Mary's stylist was EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL! The main stylist had me waiting in the chair for forty minutes and wouldn't even greet me. Then when I approached she said that she thought I was waiting on another stylist. Sje then began my hair in which I told her exactly what I wanted. My dryer stopped and she never checked to see if my hair was dry. When I finally made it to her seat, I was told that my hair was no good and that I had to now go back under the dryer. I sat back in the chat again only to notice that the stylist was performing the total opposite than what I asked for! I asked for a rollerwrapnwith curls, only to witness her straightening my hair all the way through. When asked why she wasn't curling it, she said because she needed to flat iron it. I told her I wasn't getting a flat iron because it was not anticipated and then she told me that hair type needed it. Needless to say she did not offer any discount even though I totally did not get my intended style. My advice is for any women of color to AVOID THIS SALON...
