I booked this without really researching properly because it was an IHG hotel and close to the office I was working at.||||I stayed here for a week so I think I have a good impression of the property now. It's a motel in the very traditional sense. The room doors all open onto a balcony over looking the pool (or for the ground floor simply onto the path round the pool) or overlooking the outside of the motel. So it's not like a hotel in the sense that the corridors are inside. You also have people walking past your window so unless you have the curtains tightly drawn they can see in.||||The balconies are a particular problem for me because guys congregate to smoke, drink beer or chat which made me feel quite uncomfortable. Families playing in the pool could be quite noisy but for the most part I blocked them out apart from on the Friday afternoon when someone was blasting out music.||||I felt further uncomfortable arriving back one night to three police SUVs outside the Motel 6 next door which shares the same entrance to the parking lots.||||Staff were very polite and friendly and I cannot criticise their manners or behaviour. Very professional and willing to please.||||The hotel was undergoing refurbishment in the lobby but this didn't create an inconvenience for me.||||The room had a living area, sleeping area and two bathrooms. Coffee machine, fridge and microwave. Iron/Ironing board, hairdryer and standard toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body creme). Unfortunately the fold over security latch that stops the door from being opened from outside if the normal lock is opened was broken (missing the anchor point on the wall) and so that really did nothing to improve my safety concerns.||||The air conditioning was something else. It sounded like a jackhammer or lorry starting up and was so loud. I was left with the choice of boiling to death or being woken up constantly throughout the night. I didn't manage to tune it out until the 5 days into my 6 day stay!||||Maid service was only Mon, Wed and Fri and I guess day of checking out.||||My first morning showering I noticed a pubic hair on the wall and it was still there on Tuesday morning so they hadn't wiped down the wall fully. By Thursday it was gone so I guess it was just missed on the Monday.||||The loo roll holder fell off the wall when I pulled the loo roll but maintenance fixed that when the cleaner came round the next day so that was good service.||||I didn't try the pool and the spa was out of action the whole week. It wasn't until the final day that I saw the gym so can't comment on that.||||Breakfast seemed fairly standard for the HI Express brand so I've no complaints. It's not what I'd prefer to eat but it's what I was expecting.||||In short I really don't understand how this is a HI Express as I feel it falls far short of the brand standard and no amount of good work by the staff will ever overcome the shortcomings of the building. I won't be staying here out of...
Read moreMost recent stay in Simi Valley July 2024. The facility could have been cleaner. It was not super dirty, but a cleaner facility would have been more comforting on a health level. Example, sidewalks in the courtyard could have been swept more recently. It looked like it had a couple of days of dirt and dust on them. Another, in front of our room, when we arrived, there was a used coffee pod on the sidewalk. It was there until the morning we left. We spent three nights in Simi Valley. We did not receive fresh bath towels one day. Another day I wondered if our room was actually cleaned. I left a few broccoli crumbs from a snack on the sink from the prior night. They were still on the sink counter when we returned for the evening the day our room should have been cleaned. Our bed was made and received fresh towels that day. Dayton Ohio stay and when how we became rewards members. We reserved two nights when visiting family June. 2024. Checked in and noticed a towel bar was not secured to the wall when first entering. Told the front desk. He said he will put in a work order to be fix. It was not fixed during our stay. Day two of our stay we did not get our room cleaned or fresh towels. The housekeeper put a do not disturb sign out on the door. We left early and came back late both days and no need to put the sign on the door. We now had two do not disturb signs. The front desk said this was not the first time the housekeeper has done this. They apologized for the inconvenience and gave us; I think 1500 reward points. I had to become a rewards member to benefit from our inconvenience. Not sure if I am or have benefitted yet. It seems to take a lot of reward points to earn a free night stay. You receive a different number of points depending on where you stay. The busier the facility the fewer points you will receive from what the night clerk said in Simi Valley told me when getting the fresh towels one night. He could not tell me how many points I earned for my stay in Simi Valley. Neither could the clerks in the Dayton facility. Tissues, in Dayton there were none. Asked for some and was told they are waiting for a delivery. In Simi, there was one tissue in the box. The next day, instead of getting a new box, the housekeeper put three tissues in the same box. You read signs around the facility, saying if you forgot something we have it. I guess Holiday Inn thinks people do not use or need tissues. Maybe I should bring my tissues from home for if and when we stay again at a Holiday Inn because they didn't have them at both places. We do not used a bunch of tissues, just more than none to...

I have stayed in many different hotels and have never had this poor of experience.
First I was not acknowledged for being a Platinum Elite member as usual. I found that this was like an Okd style motel quality/setup. Outdoor room doors - courtyard type layout which is not like the usual quality I’m used to.
Second the room one ten they gave us smelled of urine. By the time 2 of 4 of us took showers we soon realized we would never get any sleep because right outside of our door is a rear entrance gate that whenever a guest comes in or out from the parking lot it slams shut extremely loud. Also the cabinet that hides the fridge would not close. The furniture literally looks like it was from the nineteen seventies.
After coming complaining and with not much of an apology they offered me a different room on another floor on opposite side of hotel saying they’ve never heard of anyone complaining about this new room. Apparently they’ve had complaints about one ten and yet they still stuck me there. To move to a different room at this point is also a major inconvenience to pack up and move, which we had to in order to get any sleep.
We were moved to room two thirty four. It didn’t smell like urine near as strong so we took it. I quickly found out there was not one bar of soap in this room. I had to go back to the front desk again to ask for soap. They didn’t have any there so I had to wait for over 5 minutes for them to bring to my room. The next one to take a shower found out the bath drain was plugged but didn’t complain about it. Then I took my shower... the drain was almost completely plugged with hair from who knows how many people. I was standing in 3-4 inches of dirty water and had to shut off the water and literally stand there for about 5 minutes while it slowly drained out. Then I could turn back on the water to finish washing my feet. I ended up using a wash rag to pull out a huge clump of absolutely disgusting hair from the drain just to get the tub to drain.
Next I went to the phone to call the front desk about it only to find the phone not only didn’t work but the phone cord was broken. The front desk knew my room had called and they called back. I couldn’t hear them and I never found out if they could hear me or not. They never even bothered to come to my room to find out if I needed anything.
One last note: the bed in two thirty four sounds like it was broken when I sat down.
This was absolutely the worst hotel I’ve been...
