The star of the show here is undoubtedly the cuisine. The menu boasts a good variety of authentic Mexican dishes, each bursting with rich flavors and fresh ingredients.
Start your meal with the irresistible guacamole. The tortilla chips are crisp and taste fresh, the ideal accompaniment to the creamy guacamole. The salsas are not strong. Smokey and flavorful but still lacking that fire that makes your palate come alive.
For the main course we had the mouthwatering creamy chocolate mole chicken enchiladas, the amazing grilled fish tacos, carne asada and chicken tacos. Wow! Delicious, fresh and simply a fiesta of flavors in your mouth. Our meal was complemented by an authentic Mexican cucumber agua fresca drink.

Read moreI had the absolute misfortune of dining at Mariachi Loco Grill and Cantina in Simi Valley on September 7th at noon, and let me tell you, it was an experience I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that this place was a hotbed of poor management and dreadful service.
First of all, the staff seemed completely clueless and disorganized. It took an eternity just to get a menu, and once we finally ordered, it was like our food had been sent to a parallel universe. We waited and waited, watching other tables get served while we sat there twiddling our thumbs. It was as if the concept of time had no meaning in this establishment.
But the absolute nadir of the evening was the so-called "Tuna roll" I had the misfortune of ordering. I have had sushi from all around the world, and I've never encountered anything quite like this. The moment that slimy, suspicious-looking roll of alleged tuna touched my lips, I knew I had made a grave mistake. I could practically hear my stomach screaming in agony as I attempted to chew through the rubbery mess that was supposed to be sushi.
In conclusion, Mariachi Loco Grill and Cantina in Simi Valley is a cesspool of incompetence, poor management, and terrible service. Their food not only tastes atrocious, but it also poses a serious health risk. Save yourself the agony and steer clear of this establishment...
Read moreMariachi Loco is a new Mexican restaurant that opened in Simi Valley. There has been a slew of new modern Mexican establishments to help reinvigorate the love for this standard in Southern California cuisine. The space is clean and open. Lending to an aura of being in a tropical area covered in vines and budding flowers. The salsa is good, right off the bat. Which is always a sign that the rest of the food should be equally as flavorful. You have many choices to choose from. Appetizers, salads, mains, tacos, and even some sushi to boot. They did say this was modern Mexican after all. I tried the Mariachi taco platter, which allows you to try four separate types of tacos. This was a wise decision to try and get a feel on how all their cooking styles fared. The food was flavorful and well done. The shrimp gabernador was excellent. The quesabirria was tasty and not burnt. The pork belly were my favorite, nice and crispy and still fatty. They offer brunch as well, and on weekends, there also seems to be a DJ spinning some nice Latin sounds to groove with. A month in and theyvare off to a great start establishing their name in...
