2022.01-14/FRI_1000: A group of friends invited us to eat dinner with them after a good session of bowling. They invited us to Toppers Pizza. Being that we have many dietary restrictions - we don't tell our friends and just learned to deal with it when we get to our destination. It is simple when you have food allergies-you eat it or your throat closes up. So don't eat it.
Anyway. They ordered some Garlic Breadsticks, a Pepperoni and Bacon Pizza, Jalapeno Poppers and a Combination Pizza. The Garlic Breadsticks have cheese on them and appear to be fresh baked. I had a piece of it and the flavor was good. A good balance of garlic butter and salt. They were better than another commercial Italian restaurant I've been to in my lifetime. They serve them with ranch and marinara. The bread is actually fluffy and nothing like the standard, dense Oive Garden breadstick.
The Jalapeno Poppers were a hit for me. First off, they were cream cheese and not cheddar cheese. Score! They were also baked and not fried. Another point! They were delicious. They did not have any type of breading at all. Just let me explain. They literally are jalapenos cut in half lengthwise. The jalapenos were filled with cream cheese and topped with crispy bacon and baked. Delicious and perfect.
We got the Combination Pizza with no pizza sauce and had it made with a creamy garlic sauce instead. We were impressed with the quality of the food being that it's not your local Italian mom and pop joint. The bread and crust were good. It was cooked to perfection. The pictures are pretty spot on when it comes to texture. The toppings and cheese were fresh, nothing like what we expected. We really had no complaints. The garlic sauce used in the pizza was flavorful and the amount of toppings were excellent, too. All of it was great!
The salad bar was always kept up and cleaned. The soda fountain was also clean and organized at all times. Like I said, no complaints for this establishment!
The ambiance here was very family oriented and there were many teens. The staff they have working at this location is great. They are very courteous, friendly and professional especially with the type of crowd they bring in. We loved that. There were young staff members and they were professional with the young crowd. Fantastic. We loved the staff, food and clean environment and we would...
Read moreread a post the way a manager treated a homeless person on facebook. I won't be eating at toppers anytime soon. I can't believe some people. The following is a copy of the conversation.
I just want everyone in Simi to know that I was just eating at Toppers Pizza in Simi Valley and a homeless man came in and quietly sat down. A guest who was eating very kindly bought him a meal. The owner of Toppers called the police and made a huge scene and embarrassed the man who was sitting there. Mind you, he was minding his own business and not speaking to anyone or bothering them in any way. The police came and kindly spoke to the homeless man and asked him to leave. The owner then proceeded to make an even bigger scene and demand that he leave as the cops were already talking to him. His food was ready and served to him, yet the owner demanded that he leave. After his food had been paid for. He didn’t care. I could understand if the man was causing a commotion or being disrespectful but this man was simply SITTING DOWN TO EAT. The manner in which the owner acted disgusted everyone in the restaurant and people got up and walked out. This was handled horrifically and I will never step foot in that restaurant again. I realize that not all people feel comfortable being around homeless people but regardless of your feelings, being a decent human being is not difficult to do. Obviously people were raised differently and I understand that people come from all walks of life but it’s never acceptable to be hateful to another human being especially if they are minding their own business. My stomach is still in knots witnessing what happened. Patrons of the restaurant told the owner that they will not return ever again because of the way he acted and he started laughing and pointed at the door and...
Read moreToppers is very popular and, therefore, can be very chaotic during rush times. I typically get carry-out. Their pizza is really good, but can be overloaded with toppings!! One time, I got a light amount of something, and it was still all over the pizza (def not a complaint). It's pricey, but it's worth it!!! I've been to the Simi Valley and Santa Clarita locations. I love the variety of sauces and toppings they offer, and what I love most is that you can get 2 different types of pizza on one pizza (half and half). That's the best way to try multiple flavors without getting a lot of food. The sizes are good; a small is big enough for one person. They have good variety of toppings. I will warn you if you like extra; their pizza can be messy cause it's loaded with toppings (not so much with sauce and cheese). I'd try it how it comes first. The one topping I tried that I wouldn't get again is "chipotle." Their version of Chipotle isn't what I'm used to; theirs is a white-ish sauce and not really smokey in flavor. I wanted a Chipotle Hawaiian bbq pizza, and it didn't go as planned. The unique toppings I love are roasted garlic, chopped garlic, and roasted grape tomatoes (which has been great on every pizza so far). The unique flavors that my are my favorites are the garlic chicken (get the free chopped garlic and or roasted garlic (if you dare) and def with roasted tomatoes) and the Dijon chicken. I typically do half and half of...
