This is an honest review. This is not to sound pretentious, but to give an honest review of what to expect, at least from our experience. We picked this hotel due to it's very close proximity to the Marine Museum, which was a plus. Other than that, I would say that this hotel is a little too expensive for what you get. The room itself was not the cleanest, there was leftovers from the last users of the room, used toilet paper, and other bits of trash/remnants from the last users. Some flies, and other small bugs in the room. Notepads and pens that are usually left as a custom were noticably used and had stains on them. The suite we got had a jet tub, but it wasn't clean at all, and we had to purchase some cleaning supplies and scrub the hair and residue left from who knows how long. We stayed for 3 nights, and have not been able to get a decent amount of supplies for the stay. They give you a very small amount of towels and toilet paper, and I was unable to obtain more towels for our 3 night stay. Very inconvenient. As others have said, the rooms are really outdated. The floors in the hallway and room creak, and you can tell this whole place needs to be updated. Understand this before you plan to stay here. Shower is extremely small and has very weak pressure, it's impossible to clean yourself well after stay at the beach with how weak the shower pressure is, toilet handle needs to be held for a good minute to flush and it seems like it is overflowing for a bit, and the sink fills up when you wash your hands. The fridge was a good size, but it could be colder. The microwave is ancient, and operates with a dial like a toaster....The pool is extremely small, and is usually packed. I am unable to comment on the quality of the pool since we didn't have a chance to use it. There is free continental breakfast, which is a plus. Another plus- If there are still any Pokemon Go players: This hotel is a Pokestops with plenty of Castforms that spawn like crazy, so that was a neat surprise! Overall, this hotel definitely needs to be updated, and it isn't worth the price imo. I would say they should be charging half what they do for what you get, but I guess they are banking on the location. The staff is friendly, but don't seem to want to go out of their way to accommodate you like other hotels. But, if you want to be conveniently located within walking distance to all the small shops, restaurants, and museum of Solomon's Island, this is the closest you can get. We were paying for one of the "best" rooms they offered, so this review is applicable to that. Honestly though, if the quality of their most expensive rooms are not that great, I would expect the cheaper rooms to be even worse... Just trying to give an honest review. Read this if you plan to go here, and good luck...
Read moreThe price for this place was good. The area where it was was good. However, we were placed in a room that appeared as it was half cleaned or perhaps just beds that were made and who knows probably made for the previous occupants were the sheets were never changed. There was not soap but there was shampoo. The tub was dirty and we had to complained about the dirty tub. After it was cleaned we realize that it wasn't draining. If there was someone who cleaned it, they would realize it wasn't draining. Finally we decided to request a different room. Don't plan for a breakfast. The breakfast is the worse. No juice one day and not plastic wear, no plates or bowls the next. The cereal was never put out even though there was cereal under the cabinets as well as plastic wear, No cold milk. The stair way was very dirty not only the steps but also the handrail. We didn't even want to hold on to the handrail. We are in a Pandemic time still, they should be cleaning those stairs as well as the hand rail. Arbitrarily, they booked us an charged us for an additional night without a request for an additional night. Luckily, I had stopped at the front desk before leaving to return the key, that's when I was told that I had an additional night. I told them that I never requested an additional night. It has been raining the previous two days why would I want to stay another raining day? I requested a receipt particularly because I wanted evidence that I was getting a refund. A week after leaving I called them to asked for the refund that had not yet appeared on my credit card and they said that it would be there in a few days. Two and a half weeks later my refund/credit has not been posted to my credit card. Otherwise, if none of these stuff would not had happened, they would get a better review because actually the area is...
Read moreWhen arrived for check-in, employee's children in lobby interrupted check-in process trying to play and get more balloons from other staff member. Then, after getting to room, noticed there were 4 incredibly flat pillows that were stuffed in the folded pillowcases to resemble throw pillow-sized pillows on the king-sized bed. After removing pillowcases to check, we had to exchange several due to flatness and also what appeared to be blood and other stains on them. We also had a Jacuzzi tub in our room (which was the primary reason we chose the hotel), we had to scrub the tub out prior to use because there was a chalky dust covering the surface of the tub. There was some issue with the neighboring room and we heard loud voices and when I looked out the peephole, it was the two front desk staff and a man from the room and I heard him holler, "kill'em, kill'em!" Not sure what in reference to but it didn't make me feel better considering the other stuff. Then there was unbelievably loud music directly outside my window around 11:30p for awhile, even after I opened my curtains, knocked on the window and motioned nicely to turn it down to the man who was making out with someone on the bench not 5 feet from my window. I know there are renovations going on at the hotel but, the hallway carpets weren't clean and there was a definite unpleasant musty odor in the hallway. For the price, it wasn't worth it, and definitely not worth the increased price for the holiday weekend. We will not stay nor recommend to others...
