We tried to go to this restaurant last night but when we got to it the restaurant was pitch black. The sign on the door said winter hours which were very different from what was on the internet so we had to find another place to eat. Reluctant to try this restaurant, we figured we would try again. Big mistake. We called to confirm closing time before reviewing the menu again and when we called back to order we were told they stopped serving crab legs two years ago. The woman on the phone said the menu on the internet isn't accurate and it is on their Facebook. So I go to the Facebook and we order. When we get to the restaurant to pick up our food I questioned the bill because it was much different and a lot higher than the prices on the menu. The woman (who was the bartender?) became angry and defensive and when I showed her the menu in question told me that wasn't the right one either. I asked why on one menu one crab cake was $20 but she was charging me $27. I asked to please show me an ACTUAL ACCURATE menu and the woman practically threw it at me. I gave her my card in hopes that the food was worth it. When she placed the food in front of me she walked away when I was trying to ask her for plates since we are from out of town. I had to ask a little louder to get her attention from in the kitchen, "excuse me," the woman came from around the corner and yelled, WHAT? I asked if she had plates and very rudely she snapped at me, "NO!" Before turning away from us and going to the back. When we got back to where we were staying the orders were all wrong and missing items and the food was very cold. The crab cake was missing sour cream with the shriveled up baked potato that looked like it had sat under a warmer for days. Only 3 butter packets and shriveled up soggy cold onion rings. The crab cake was so cold and terrible that every time I hit into it I had a mouthful of shells that cut the inside of my mouth. The fish and chips were missing the tarter sauce, vinegar and it was cold. The third meal was cold as well and the sidewinding fries were also shriveled, soggy and gross. When I called the restaurant to tell them about the crab cake because the shells had bit the inside of my mouth the woman put me on hold for 9 minutes before hanging up on me. When I called back A man answered and I asked for a manager. The man said he was the manager. I said I just wanted to bring the food back to show them. When we got there a man met us out front and explained he was the one we spoke to on the phone and he was NOT the manager. I explained I just wanted my money back, he said she's not going to do that. He took my food and we went in the restaurant and this woman did everything possible to not refund me after I brought the food back and showed my concerns. It was a disgrace and we will not ever go back to this restaurant nor would we ever recommend it. I was ok overpaying for 1 crab cake, however it was absolutely disgusting and the rest of the food was terrible too. The way they treated us I would have been even afraid to have them even fix it by remaking it, but, she didn't...
Read moreI gave them three stars only because the service from the blonde lady (I truly don't remember her name because I was distracted (upset) by the lack of quality in the food) was absolutely without flaws. She was very friendly and very personable. I will say that their crab pretzel was really good. However that's the best thing I can say, beyond the fact that I did like the atmosphere down on the water. I went there with two moms because it was Mother's Day and the one that was of particular importance to myself is a surf and turf lover and her favorite turf is Prime Rib. They were offering a Mother's Day special of a 10 oz prime rib with seven grilled shrimp and bacon wrapped asparagus. I got another Mother's Day special which was a fried seafood platter consisting of four crab balls, each half the diameter of a ping pong ball, one fillet of fish deep fried, four deep fried hush puppies , five fried oysters and onion rings. Four draft beers one bloody Mary and the aforementioned crab pretzel. My fried seafood platter. The fried oysters were so overcooked there was only one drop of moist oyster in each. The fried shrimp were so overcooked they were hard and rubbery, the filet was so overcooked that there was hardly any visible White meet in the interior and it was so dry I could have coughed dust, and the texture of what meat was not cooked up, was as grainy as sand. The hush puppies were not much better. The crab balls smelled and tasted like they were just fish, they were also overcooked but I like them that way when they taste like crab or at least Old Bay, but neither were true. The onion rings were Fair. Now for the prime rib surf and turf. The lady with me ordered rare because she wasn't familiar with what the cook May call medium rare. However what she got was borderline well done. Who cooks prime rib until it is no longer with any color but Gray? The grilled shrimp consisted of seven baby golf shrimp smaller than medium to say the least. The bacon wrapped asparagus was not much better than the rest since it was so fibrous that even the steak Knife included with the prime rib could not cut it up. All for just $108 and change. I wouldn't recommend any of this food beyond the crab pretzel. It makes me sad to give this kind of a review but it's...
Read moreAnglers Seafood Bar is a waterfront restaurant. It has a dining area on one side and a bar on the other. They also have an outside waterfront dining deck that is open from Spring through Fall. The restaurant is located at the Beacon Marina, and is very short walk from the Calvert Marine Museum. There is also a Quality Inn located on-site.
Nothing fancy here, as this is a down home restaurant where, If you come in more than a few times, the friendly servers will remember what you drink and your general likes and dislikes. I have never had bad service here. I eat here often and the food is very good. Some of my personal favorites are the steamed shrimp, crab cake sandwich, cheeseburger, french dip sandwich, homemade potato chips and the buffalo wings.
Anglers also opens at 7:00am and is one of the few restaurants in Solomons that offers breakfast. They also have a very good breakfast buffet on Saturdays & Sundays. In my opinion, they serve some of the best creamed chipped beef I've ever had.
Stop down for lunch on a Saturday or Sunday and, afterwards, walk the docks around 2 or 3 pm to watch the charter boats return with their daily catch of local fish. There are no less than 7 charter boats spread about the marina and a number of commercial crab...
