The place looks great when you first arrive but there are many issues here.
Walked around the property and there is trash everywhere. People smoke out front and the cigarette smell lingers when you come in and out. Guest ls leave used cigarettes near the entrance on the ground and nobody picks them up.
There are broken bottles and trash in the parking lot.
If you walk around the building towards the water there are empty water bottles, cans, jugs, containers along with other trash. You would think they want to keep the place clean and presentable.
Also people were smoking weed in the building and I guess that’s allowed?
There wasn’t really TV service in the room except Vizio Free tv and it was horrible. It was connected to WiFi and the signal in the room was bad and the TV kept buffering and wasn’t enjoyable to watch anything.
It takes a while to have someone help in the restaurant. The wait staff also doesn’t really pay attention when you order or wait on your table when you are eating. Ordered a burger well done and it came medium…. Asked for a few other things and had to ask again. The wait staff never can back to check on us and just brought the bill. They asked how it was and we said it was ok and that was the end of the conversation. We will not eat there again. Food was not worth what we paid… disappointed.
The doors between the rooms seem to be paper thin and you can hear everything the guests next door are doing.
For a few hours on and off we heard people coming and going, When they talked you could hear the entire conversation and they were as loud as the TV in the our room. We called the front desk around midnight saying they were drunk - they were yelling and making loud noise and the staff didn’t really care. They said they sent someone up and didn’t hear anyone except for normal conversation at midnight and said we could move to another room and they cannot guarantee that nobody would be taking in the other room. It was a bit sarcastic and we didn’t appreciate their tone. They said we were sensitive to noise and there is nothing they can do. I hung up and tried to go back to sleep.
They also didn’t have shampoo in the room and we had to leave the hotel to find some.
The fan in the bathroom sounded like the bearings were shot and needed to be replaced.
Breakfast was interesting. The majority of anything warm needed to be microwaved and we all know how microwaved breakfast tastes. There was a lady barking orders at guests when they were getting breakfast and her tone wasn’t pleasant. She sounded like she enjoyed bossing people around and it was like a kindergarten for adults in there.
Room was fine and location but there is a lot to be desired here.
Solomons Inn Resort and Marina, formerly known as Holiday Inn Solomons about a year ago, it provides a mix of comfort, attempting to become a mid luxury hotel which is situated very conveniently on Backcreek Loop just a 4 minutes drive from Solomons Island itself.
The staff is very friendly, attentive and accommodating. Kudos to Junae, the front desk lady , always very pleasant and a beautiful big smile as she’ll do or tried anything to accommodate their guests with their needs.
The place offers a Wi-Fi, breakfast is included from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM and 7 AM to 10 AM on weekends offering coffee, outmeal, milk and almond milk, teas slices of cakes individually wrapped and waffles, hard boiled eggs, orange and apple juice and spring waster bottles, fresh apples and oranges and different flavor yogurts. There’s also a microwave and a couple of vending machines which is great if you’re looking for a quick snack from the pool area.
There’s a fitness center and a pool with a lifeguard from 9 AM to 9 PM , there’re a lot of chairs, umbrellas and outdoor furniture to accommodate a larger family over outdoor area rugs making it more convenient to walk around under a hot weather around the pool perimeter. A marina, restaurant and outdoor bars are also part of the amenities.
The rooms are clean and housekeeping staff are very attentive and friendly.
There’re also signs of wear and runed down areas on each elevator that takes away from what you see on the pictures when booking your stay. Pets are welcomed with a fee, and for pet owners there’s a big treasure box on the lobby.
Last, there’s an abandoned Tennis court that has seen much better days, perhaps the owners may consider repairing it since it’s a total disaster and set up a couple of Pickleball courts since none are in Solomon’s, that also could increase much more revenues. (That’s my wishful thinking!)
I wish I could have given 5 stars ⭐️, but under the noted reasons under “Room Details” I...
Read more(This review written in Sept., 2022. Although the staff told me they were preparing to close, I recently called and they’re open. I’ll update with new photos when I visit again) From 2022: I'm so glad I came to this hotel before its closing in October. It's a sprawling complex with pool and great restaurant (Isaacs), small fitness center and guest laundry. It sits in a beautiful location. I have had a view of the marina, pine trees and picnic tables and have seen some beautiful sunsets. The only downside, in my view, is that the internet was down for the duration of my stay and I'm not sure when it'll be back up.
I wouldn't interact with the people who live at the marina. In truth, I'm not sure they care about you, anyway. Night after night, they played loud music at their cabana hang-out just between the hotel's North Wing and the water. I'm not sure how anyone at the North Wing got any rest. In all fairness, the music stopped at 10pm. Still, if you reserve here, I recommend sticking with the South Wing. It may not be perfect in terms of noise but it's somewhat better. For balcony rooms with privacy, try the rooms overlooking the courtyard fountain at the North Wing.
The decor isn't ultra-modern but that doesn't bother me. The room was clean and insect and mold/mildew free.
A special thanks to the day and night manager, and to Myra,...
