This was my second stay at this property during the summer, hoping to see improvements, but I did not. We waited 10 minutes for someone to appear to assist with check in. The front desk is often left unattended. This can be a security issue, since anyone can walk in and go anywhere they wish. Seems like they only have one staff member working most hours. One person cannot be everywhere or do everything. We did not see any cleaning protocols in place other than hand sanitizer. I stayed a total of 8 days between two different visits and not once did I see anyone cleaning the public spaces. What I did observe were some cleaning staff cleaning rooms without face masks and using the same dirty rags to clean each room. The 24 hour coffee/tea service often had empty carafes or cold water and cold coffee. There were no decaf or herbal tea options. The breakfast attendant claimed that the guests steal the tea! Seriously? Then admitted that they don’t bother to buy decaf or herbal
teas. The guy had an attitude! There were plates missing one morning for breakfast and on another morning, the coffee carafe was empty, them it was replaced with cold coffee, then finally after 30 minutes hot coffee!
Marriott needs to get their act together. Their rates have been excessively inflated and every shortcoming is blamed on Covid. I realize everyone is complaining of staff shortages, but you cannot expect anyone to pay the rates you are charging for the services you are providing. Guests have choices, Marriott needs to wake up and realize that!
Ps a shoutout to the front desk attendant, Laura. She was the only staff that We had encountered at that hotel that seemed to genuinely care about her guests. She was warm, friendly...

Location is a perfect weekend getaway, being from Connecticut and frequent the local R.I. beaches which are just a few minutes drive from the hotel. Just a bit under a mile north is a tiny plaza w/3 restaurants, and a small quaint movie house w/up to date movies.
The hotel has a great modern gym and indoor swimming pool. Very clean facility!. the breakfast area is quite large with many breakfast choices . The breakfast staff are by far, the best in the business. The breakfast staff people are super service orientated and care about the hotel guests. They are very kind and very, very professional ! The front desk staff are always helpful as well. As a joke I request a Pent House top floor room with an ocean view' which of course, there is no ocean view, but, to my surprise, the window shade has a very attractive digitized image of a beach scene which is a very cool artistic touch and gives the room a little sparkle.
This moderately priced hotel takes it up a notch with a very attractive and sizable lobby sitting area with a gas fire place and in warmer weather an outdoor fire pit. On the side of the hotel are several garden tables with ample seating for eating a take out meal , smoking a cigar , and/or meeting with family or friends. We often will take a ferry ride to Block Island, boarding from Judith Point( approx. 10 to 15 minute drive, depending on traffic) and this has been our go to hotel . A much more comfortable stay than any of the Block Island hotels.
