Update- Subtracting another star for the sharp 500% increase in parking costs. (5 times the original rate!) More on that in a bit. People smoke outside their rooms, and the stench comes right into the room, because there is a gap around the door. You can hear the freeway, and smell the cigarette smoke thru the door gaps. Had to stuff laundry against the bottom of my door to keep the smell out. (True in all 3 rooms I've stayed in) Only one ice machine out of three that I found works at all. First time I parked here, they charged me $5 a day over the weekend. FANTASTIC, right? 2nd time I parked here, they charged me $10 a day over the weekend. Still great... But for this weekend, the receptionist doesnt know and has to call someone to ask what to charge me, and turns out they wanted to charge me $25 a day! $75 a weekend? Hah hah ha, what an insult...that's way more expensive than SkyPark,, and way more expensive than Park SFO. (SkyPark has a shuttle about every 5 minutes, so does Park SFO, not every 30 minutes) Why would anyone want to pay way more than the going commercial rate to park here? SkyPark charges me $46 for the weekend. There was this really nice lady who set parking charges, the first two times. But this last time, there was some telephone consultation about it, and it was so drastically inconsistent from the first two times. I won't park here anymore at all now, they priced themselves right out of the market. There's no guide on the cable. You have to just surf through the channels to see what's on. (True in all 3 rooms I've stayed in) No fridge, and no microwave in any of the three rooms I've stayed in. Except the one, tiny microwave in the backroom of the lobby, which doesn't even have the right rotating glass plate in it, so it won't rotate your food, you have to do it yourself. Internet was supposedly upgraded, but sometimes it's still slow, and forces YT videos to 144P. At other times, you can get 360..weird.. On a more positive note, this motel is twice as far away from the freeway as that dive (just my opinion) called Travelodge. So yes, there are worse places. Two stars for not being in last place. Lest I forget, the staff is genuinely friendly, gotta give some credit for that.
Original post-
Well, I don't really want to be critical of this management group. I actually want them to succeed.
The room I stayed in was ok, no major issues. Except that the sheet was dirty. Human hair, lemon pledge + dust, and some little organic looking red thing. (Eew!). On request, they did come and change it for me. But the cleaning people evidently are just going thru the motions, and don't really look at what they're doing. It's a really boring job, and takes special motivation to do right. Well that ain't happening. Another issue here is the Wi-Fi. The signal is pretty weak, and the internet speed itself is painfully slow. Can't watch YT videos unless you turn the resolution down to a real fuzzy 144p. Dismally slow internet. And then it also keeps knocking you off, saying "your session has ended". Quite frustrating. Exercise room is pretty stark. Not much in it, and "zero" decor. Looks like a sad little closet. Other than those issues, it's an alright place. There's an interesting restaurant attached, that...
Read moreThis deceitful Hotel gets 1 star because it needs at least one to post. Before the review I'd like to note that the staff was very friendly and the off site manager Carlos and the front desk clerk were patient and understanding ultimately cancelling my reservation. I booked this hotel online from travelocity for about $554 3 nights for 2 adults/2 Children. The online pictures are like a mirage. Park Pointe is under a so called remodel but it's more of cheap patch work compared to the online pictures. Looks like an old run down motel converting into a band aid remodel hotel. We arrived at 2:30pm and were instructed to wait till 3:15pm. After waiting out in the car in what looks like a county fair parking lot for 45 minutes we went inside only to wait 30 more minutes to get checked in. I was specific in requesting the booked remodeled room and that's what I thought I got. The room was at the far end of the hotel in the back. The building structure looks run down Hollywood style with notable patch work. Very very old. Our room smelled like old camper home wood and cigarettes. The carpet was clearly stained and dirty. The deluxe double beds head boards were extremely dusty( my son and I have bad allergies) and wallpaper was peeling off. In the bathroom sink area the baseboard tile was not grouted properly and were just lying on the wall. The doors were definitely just painted over with notable bubbles and lumps. The TV was not clear, like they used rabbit ears for TVs. The bed box springs were stained red like lipstick or blood stains. After getting switched to another rundown room we decided to cancel only to spend another hour and a half trying to cancel with travelocity and the hotel. There was no manager on site because I was told it was the weekend and they don't work on weekends. I only saw 2 employees the entire time. After finally getting a hold of Carlos by a contracted individual working on a reception party he was able to call the front desk and give the approval to tell travelocity to cancel everything. Thanks Carlos! Please pay the extra $100 for a decent room elsewhere. Trust me! The owner should be sued for misleading customers and false advertising. I paid $50 more for a room at Hampton Inn in Alameda well worth it. I will be sending Park Pointe my video of the damaged and filthy room with a more detailed encounter of my few unpleasant hours there. I could not believe how bad this place is. I wouldn't say there if...
Read moreI've stayed at Motel 6's that are nicer than this place. I don't normally give bad reviews but I've worked in the hotel industry and this place definitely deserves it... Their photos online make it seem like a nice place but it's more of a greasy dump (our room was literally right next to their 3+ dumpsters so whenever we weren't in our room it smelled disgusting), and their "amenities" ie the furniture, had greasy finger prints all over them). We had called an asked a few times, including the day of our reservation, if arriving in the middle of the night (technically the next calendar day) between 2-4am would be an issue and if so we'd cancel the first night and keep the other two. We were told not to worry, that they were open 24/7 and that we could check-in whenever. After an 8 hour drive we arrived and their lobby was closed. Their 24/7 assistance number listed on their front door went to a voicemail that said to "please call back during business hours, our office hours are Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm". After pounding on the door for 10 minutes straight a man finally came to the side door and asked "what do you want" (super rude). By the time we got checked into our room, we realized there was no hot water... and the number listed to call for any assistance was the same number listed on their lobby front door. We brought this to their attention the next day and the woman working the front desk offered to have us move to a room 2 doors down. So of course we did. The room we were moved to only had 2 small square pillows instead of 3 like the first room. No luggage rack, small table or bathroom garbage can like the first room either. Which we honestly didn't care about at that point, just thought it was odd. We checked out on a Sunday, so I anticipated the charges for our stay wouldn't go through on my card for a few business days. It took over 2 weeks, including refunding our $100 security deposit. If you're going to stay here, keep in mind their lack of amenities too (in the fine print); no mini fridge, microwave, or single serve coffee pot, and poor customer service. Again, I've stayed at Motel 6's nicer than this place....
