The Landing: A Predictable Pitstop
As a self-proclaimed foodie with a discerning palate, The Landing near SFO offered a familiar, if slightly uninspired, experience. While service was undeniably charming – thanks to Ann, a waitress whose smile could melt airport stress – the food itself left me wanting a bit more.
My choice, the "farmers scramble," arrived on a pre-warmed plate, a positive touch. However, the scrambled egg whites themselves were a rather standard execution. The expected medley of vegetables – bell peppers, potatoes, and anions (presumably onions) – lacked the vibrant punch one might expect from fresh, local produce. The sourdough toast, a welcome inclusion, was saved by the real, softened butter – a small detail, but often overlooked.
Overall, The Landing is a perfectly acceptable option for a quick and convenient meal near SFO. Ann's service is a bright spot, and the use of real butter a pleasant surprise. Read moreFor a hotel restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised. This was our second visit. Both times were after exiting SFO. The first was late night; the second was dinnertime two weeks later. The menu is varied and has some unexpected items like grilled cheese and tomato soup. But also BBQ ribs and spinach stuffed chicken breast, all of which were quite good. The ribs were tender but not fall-off-the-bone. The chicken breast was ever so slightly overcooked. The double Old Fashioned was perfection. The bar area is good for catching the games and there is a nice patio. The bartenders are very nice and accommodating. The kitchen is astute - I was avoiding simple carbs and asked for double green beans (veggie of the day), thinking that was my only option besides a salad. What arrived were the green beans and perfectly prepared asparagus. Thank you. This may well be our regular post SFO...
Read moreWe enjoyed our dinner here! The grilled New York steak was very tender, juicy, and flavorful, and the grilled broccolini and garlic confit marble potatoes were well-seasoned and very tasty.
The Ruben (corned beef with sauerkraut with melted Swiss cheese on toasted marble rye) was savory and delicious, and the skin on steak fries were so good! Lightly salted, and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
There are three seating sections: the atrium, bar, and the main restaurant area. The restaurant was comfortable and quiet. Very clean restrooms are located across the hotel lobby, down a plush carpeted hallway.
We highly recommend The Landing Restaurant for its friendly service, comfortable ambiance, and...
