I always like going to this restaurant because the recipe for their crispy chicken has no competition. Louisiana style spices are a real thing and they exist at this restaurant. I recommend using the app because there's always deals on there that are sometimes 50% off from the restaurant price. You can use it either as delivery, as pick up, or you can use the coupon right there at the counter. There is still no seating yet available indoors because of covid-19. There's no bathrooms either. There's plenty of parking outside though, handicap accessible.
I will say that I ordered my chicken 40 minutes in advance and when I got there it was not ready, I had to wait an additional 24 minutes to get my order. The restaurant served all the customers that came in the store first. I really believe they should have fulfilled my order and had it packed up before I got there.
I always get the red beans and rice and mashed potatoes when I order to go. The red beans and rice is pretty good the rice needs a little bit of work though, the beans are actually done pretty good. I really like the mashed potatoes because it contains little bits of onion or potato or meat in it, depending on location. You should only ever order cajun fries when you're eating at the restaurant or in your car because by the time they get to your house they will no longer be crispy. They also don't hold well in the refrigerator if you have left overs. Their sandwiches are not that bad but a bit dry. The sodas are a bit on the small side. Some locations have restored their self-service for sodas while others still fill it for you. They're coleslaw is not bad although I don't like eating coleslaw. You do have to eat it fresh though otherwise it goes bad fast. The mac and cheese is what you expect. If you order the shrimp, do not expect the big pieces of shrimp you see in the commercials. Each piece of shrimp is about the size of 8 "Planters" peanuts stacked in a cube. If you go for their rippin' chicken do not expect a lot of chicken either it's a rip off deal, the chicken is about the size of one piece of drumstick, cut up into smaller "tenders." Their biscuits used to taste really good and buttery. But lately they've been really dry and they do not add as much butter as they used to.
If you're expecting to get sauce for your chicken throw that idea out of your head. There isn't a single Popeye's Chicken that gives you free sauce anymore. They charge 25 or 50 cents for each depending on location. I recalled going to the El Camino Popeyes before and I ordered some tenders and they still wouldn't give me sauce even though they're supposed to give free sauce for tender orders or seafood orders. I remember back in the early 2000s they used to give sauces for free for anything even if you just requested it. However, they do give you free hot sauce and ketchup so you can stock up on that.
The service clerks are usually pretty friendly and helpful, although occasionally they will argue with you until you show them proof that it is their policy. Usually there's a line that goes out the door right around noon time, line is not as long in the morning or afternoon. They're usually a dinner rush between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. after that it's clear again for...
Read moreI am very disappointed with the service I received at this store. My wife placed an online order, and I went to pick it up. Initially, I was told that chicken dippers were unavailable, but I was offered tenders as a replacement, which I appreciated. However, what left me most frustrated was the poor service, particularly from the server Tony (as he introduced himself).
He forgot to include the sauces with my order. When I went back to ask for them, he was dismissive and only handed me one, even though my order included two. Later, I also realized that my drinks were missing. When I asked about them, his response was, “You should tell me if there are no drinks.” It should not be the customer’s responsibility to remind staff about items that are already part of the order.
I also observed that the two customers ahead of me had to ask for their drinks as well, which suggests this is not an isolated mistake. Instead of apologizing or addressing the issue, Tony responded casually and without accountability. This level of service is unacceptable, and I would expect greater...
Read moreUse app to order the special offers for pickup which are sometimes really good deals. Just some of their locations don't have the same good deal offers. We used to go to KFC for the spicy chicken but they got rid of spicy chicken years ago when they started the Georgia Gold & Nashville which are saucy, oily & soggy when we tried them. Popeyes have spicy chicken but wish they were spicier like how KFC had them b4. Their spice isn't marinated in between the flesh but rather it's just the exposed areas. Usually the chicken is fresh, hot & juicy but I've had a dried breast b4 meaning it had been sitting over the heating lamp for too long. We like their fries & red beans + rice but their mash & gravy, biscuits, mac & chz aren't as good as KFC's. The sides are pretty pricy for the size. My kids also like their spicy crispy chicken sandwiches. Difficult to find street parking @San Francisco locations but elsewhere usually have...
