The Hotel V is a very basic airport motel, sandwiched in between Highway 101 and the very busy airport road leading into SFO. Both are very noisy roads, with heavy traffic 24/7. Yet... this property's rates and policy is to charge and describe the motel as a 'resort'. For which, they charge 'resort' fees. It's a clever way of appearing to be the cheapest option in the area, adding in all the 'resort' fees at check-in. It's not illegal and since it's pointed out when you book - even through a third party - that the charges will be added - it's not an outright deception; but is it honest? Is it legitimate? You decide!||||The basic nature of the property is apparent as soon as you arrive. Sitting next to a gas station, the rooms are on two floors, with no elevator. There is parking, but that's an extra cost, too. There is a small lobby for check-in, but it's only operational at certain times and there is nowhere to store luggage at all. The staff will show you a printed list of what comes with your two extra fees - one is for the 'resort' and one is for 'service' - but you won't actually get many of these things even after you pay up.||||For my stay, the hotel is not providing daily housekeeping, despite the daily service fee on top of the room rate. If you want clean towels, if you want your room cleaned, if you want to empty the trash, it's all down to you to arrange and you have to give 24 hours notice. As of September/October 2021, the hotel has run out of soap and only has limited supplies of toilet paper and a very cheap, almost useless shampoo. So much for the service charge. A hotel that can't provide soap or toilet paper is pretty much not a hotel.||||As part of your 'resort' fee, there's a coffee maker, a microwave and a fridge, but getting coffee is tricky as there's no service. Despite the 'service' fee. It's all pretty dishonest frankly and yet the staff will not budge on the charges, You pay them when you check-in and don't even waste your breath asking or debating about what you didn't get for your money. There will be no discussion and certainly no refund.||||The rooms are basic and shabby. Torn and worn linens, but basically clean. Battered old wooden furniture. A small table and a couple of wooden chairs with dirty cushions. There is good WIFI, I didn't use the TV, so I don't know what's on offer, and place for your clothes. There's a battered ironing board and an old iron. No safe. No real security as the lock bolt was very loose. Noise is a major issue. Apart from all the traffic, the low rates seem to attract the worst kind of selfish, noisy guests who couldn't care less. Despite the non smoking rule, there is an almost continuous odour of marijuana being smoked outside the rooms.||||Bathrooms are tatty and need a make over. Peeling bath tubs, old, worn towels. Relatively clean, when you can get fresh towels of course. No soap. Cheap, useless shampoo that isn't replenished. Cracked and broken toilets and sink, but good hot water pressure.||||You get what you pay for. The room rate itself is the lowest in the area, but once you've added in all the bogus fees, you're paying the same price as all the competition. More in some cases. It may be legal, it may not be strictly dishonest but it sure as hell is misleading. Resorts come with a pool, a bar, a cafe, a restaurant, amenities. You won't find anything like that at Hotel V. Just a basic, noisy room. Make sure to bring your own toileteries...
Read moreI checked in on Sat 09/09/2023 when I get to hotel I'm a platinum member so I get early check ins when asked the old Arab lady looked me up and down and tried to tell me no until she seen that it literally was minutes before 3. When early check in is at 1. so once checked in I enjoyed my stay. The next day when it was time for check out I went to the front to return key and get a invoice for my stay so that my bank could release my deposit. When I asked the old Arab lady she tried to tell me that , that's not how the process works after going back and forth with her about this. She finally agreed to send the invoice once her staff checked the room.So I left once at the airport 2 hours later I call because the invoice was not recieved and a man answers and says to give him an hour to send it. I asked why so long they said that they haunt checked me out of the room yet. I asked why when I had been gone for hours. /The same old Arab lady got on the phone and said I told you I will send the invoice but after we check the room I asked why is it taking so long. She then tried to lie and accuse me of having a dog in my room saying that they have a no pet policy which I had no pets and once I told her you must be referring to someone else she was like you sure because your the lady with the yellow car and I said NO I had no car I ubered from airport. She kept trying to say that It was me I don't know know if the person was black but we all don't look the same when she knew damn well that I had no car or dog. I told her to run the cameras back. Of course she then got snappy and defensive and Said well I will send the invoice when I get ready. I then told her you don't know who I am and I will be reporting this to Corporate and to my 20k followers on social media. She then slammed the phone down and walked away I then heard her talking to the guy in the background cursing and speaking in another language angered. The room was nice but the customer service is horrible. An I don't know if it was because I'm black but you are in my country and you need to learn respect for all customers no matter the back ground. please be advised that they will not check you out even when you can to the front to check out. they will try and lie to keep your deposit. Please be aware of the old Arab lady with long hair at from desk she is rude and racist. I asked for the invoice for a reason and shouldn't be questioned. I payed my hard earned money just to be disrespected. They happy until they get your money then its a different stories. Y'all Arab hotel owners need to do better if it wasn't for us you wouldn't be here let alone own the business.

Read moreThis is a summer 2022 update on conditions of Hotel V. Location is very convenient, free parking. But even during COVID period, services and amenities were more reliable and consistent than under current new management. Most rooms have one torn chair with bacteria breeding exposed foam filler even in rooms accommodating two people or more. Often a shortage of room supplies including toilet paper and towels. Shortage of bleach is noticeable when bed linen looks less white. Hours of operation are also inconsistent. People often seen waiting long minutes to get front desk service; or stuck waiting for service outside even in chilly cold windy afternoons. Antiquated television channel viewing disrupted with constant loss of signals, and constant loss of WiFi internet signals on a daily basis.
Management seems to assume their personal schedule takes precedence over the convenience of paying guests. Supposedly, Hotel Investment Group just sold Hotel V to new ownership. Hope some upgrades will be made. Even many shower curtain are frayed and worn. Most furniture is scratched and chipped. In other words, there is definitely a contrast from what the hotel's promotional websites claim from reality. However, advice is to ask to see the room before paying. Some rooms have more features than others with cheaper rates; other rooms look better than others. A few room windows face noisy traffic along 101 Freeway. There still are a few rooms with color coordinated furniture, some even with an extra table and two chairs. The extra table with extra chairs is especially useful for business travelers or lay a laptop computer on a flat surface.
Especially in certain evenings, there is a stinky sewer type of smell when a large pool of dirty water leaks out. The place looks worn inside and outside. Under new management, front office service is not as cordial and friendly as before. You might get a reluctant grin as you are paying for the reservation, but do not be surprised if you are barely acknowledged afterwards. Even if management promises to be prompt in fixing a problem, do not hold your breath unless you can do it for a few days or weeks after asking them.
Hotel V is not as nice as it used to be. However, if rates are cheaper than comparables and only need to book for a night or two, then it is tolerable. Aside from only one front room employee who is truly nice and kind, the two managers seem foreign to the concept of hospitality. But then most low rate motels seem lacking in customer service. To be more health safe, include a can of disinfectant spray as sometimes lower priced hotels may not be thorough in sanitizing the...
