The ONLY reason I gave even one star, was to be able to leave my review! My sister and I stayed at the Springfield Missouri location, located at the intersection Sunshine and Glenstone( Lamplighter Inn South). We made reservations 5 days ahead. Upon arrival we went to our room and fell asleep, my sister having just left Mercy hospital after an out patience surgical procedure. Upon waking we both began to notice a extremely strong frigid breeze along the floor. We then found a crack above and below the wall mounted air conditioner/ heating unit, that measured approx 1/2 inch. Allowing you to watch those outside, walk past! We also noticed our bathroom sink was covered, yes covered!, in what seemed to be a man's facial hair. No one had cleaned this room prior to our arrival, or if they did they did not touch the bathroom. We also noticed the carpet had not been vacuumed either . We called and requested to be moved to another room. They gave us another room.
After being moved to the new room, we tried to turn on the TV it shots sparks out of the plug-in. We noticed that there were several things plugged in one socket through an extension cord. When we unplugged the extension cord and plug the television straight to the wall, it made a "hissing noise", so we pulled the plug back out of the wall and contacted the front desk again.
The front desk then moved us to another, final, third room. This all after my sister having surgery. We had to pick up and move twice ! (three times if you count the initial room). After getting in the third room we noticed that there was an unusual odor we did not know what it was and could never find it. We did however watch the people walk by outside, because in this room there was a crack above and below the air conditioner allowing you to see people's feet as they walked past your room and the construction workers were out there smoking so all the smoke from their cigarettes blew into our room!! (This is considered a non - smoking Inn). We also noticed that on a two prong plug, there was an extension made to allow 6 plugins. All six of those plugins were full with one of them contained an extension cord with a circuit breaker attached. Every single Major Appliance for that room were plugged in on the one cord, TV , microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker. They were all plugged in, along with the cable box for the internet. These major appliances were plugged into a extension cord, that was plugged into a outlet extension, that was plugged into a two prong box! Needless to say we unplugged everything so that we might have a good night's rest without risk of fire, at least from this room, as the Smoke Detectors were not working. My sister also stepped on a piece of aluminum or copper wire that was on the floor! This room too, did not look like it had been touched by any type of cleaning staff. MY sister and I are not prudes.... sometimes we don't vacuum our carpets every day... there are days we don't do our dishes every day..... sometimes I don't mop my kitchen floor every day.... but my house is not filthy! And I expect anywhere else I go, especially if I pay for it, to not be filthy as well. When I confronted the front desk about the condition of the rooms, each time I was told: "We're sorry, we have a new cleaning staff!" My suggestion (as my husband I have rented here several times with no incidents prior).... Go back to the original cleaning staff! Inexcusable. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PARTICULAR INN. They were more concerned with, "passing the blame", than fixing the issue. Yes they moved us THREE times, but honestly it was just like changing a baby's dirty diaper, only to put another dirty one back on! Below are just an extremely few photos. #1: What looks to be boogers and snot, on the curtain you must move to turn on heading. #2: The smaller of all the three rooms cracks. #3 The smallest crack again. #4: Mens facial hair on sink. #5: Mens facial hair on sink. #6: THEIR idea of how to...
Read moreI am not one that complains or writes many reviews but I felt that I needed to write this one. My mom was admitted to Mercy Hospital on Friday 3/28 for an emergency and it was late when my husband and I started looking for a room. We did not know that there was a volleyball tourney going on so we drove around to 4 or 5 that did not have any vacancy before deciding to stop at the Lamplighter on Glenstone. I have stayed there before and assured my husband that it wasn't bad then so it should be okay. Well, I was wrong...the young lady at the desk was very friendly and I have no complaints about her. She gave us a room and told us it was on the 3rd floor. This room was completely torn apart, it looked like someone had been working on the one of the bed frames as it was busted to pieces with the mattress standing up in front of the TV. I went back down and explained and she gave us another room, also on the 3rd floor. We arrived to this room and I was pleasantly surprised that this room did not have carpet as the other rooms carpet was nasty. Upon closer look, there was something brown and sticky all over the floor in front of the bathroom and on the bathroom floor. I want to say vomit, but I tried not to think about it as I clean up the entire floor. There were only two towels and one wash cloth in a bathroom so small that we had to turn sideways to maneuver around in there. It would have done us no good to go ask for more because an elderly man asked for more towels while we were checking in and she told him that there were no more to give out (should have been a red flag to me). She announced loudly to everyone that it wasn't her fault, she only worked there.
I was warned not to get a room on the 3rd floor as these are normally saved for their long term guests such as contractors.
Like I said, I am not very picky about rooms and understand things happen but these two rooms were totally unacceptable for anyone to pay for.
Maybe the other two floors are better? I don't know. Do yourself a favor and save your money and sleep...
Read moreI am extremely disappointed and unprofessional is an understatement for the young boy who worked the front desk tonight. At approximately 11:00pm, my wife was speaking to me on the phone when it died. She called the front desk to call my room as we have a family emergency going on and the attendant transferred the call. At that time I was in the restroom and unable to answer. My wife waited several minutes and called back again. That time, the front desk never answered. So, she figured they were helping a guest or away from the desk and waited a few minutes before trying again. The third attempt, the attendant answered and stated "I already transferred you to that room and I'm not going to continue to do so and disturb the guest". At that point my wife asserted herself and stated there has been a family emergency and that I am here on business and at no point will she be disrespected and spoke to that way. Your attendant has a job to do and if my wife calls 1 time or 30 times, I am PAYING to stay at your hotel when there are MANY options within very minimal proximity that would GLADLY transfer the call to the room as requested. This is unacceptable and NOT how anyone should be treated as a guest let alone the family of the guest. This is extremely upsetting and not how we do business. I run a business and would never treat my clients this way. The attendant also claimed there was no corporate office number or anyone to contact above him he said and I quote: "um, there is no corporate office but ok" and transferred the call. He had an attitude for days. Sorry we interrupted your poor work ethic. This hotel would be better ran by robots that are efficient and nice. Not worth the money when there are many other options for hotels nearby. Don't waste...
