The only truly redeeming factor about this place is that its located pretty close to a lot of things the average person would need. Besides that, I wouldn't ever recommend staying here.
For starters, as you initially drive up, you see it littered with junk, trailer, cars, etc. Its giving you a sign immediately what you're in for when you stay here. The lobby isn't much different.
Then you go to check in and the price is absurdly high at a $120/night price point. Thats more expensive than a Wyndham hotel without a single upside of staying there. On top of that, there's also a $50 deposit.
When I was here, they couldn't find the key to my first room so they moved me upstairs. That room wasnt cleaned properly so the hotel owner (presumably) had a worker quickly sweep and mop it, which, to the worker, is a reason why I shouldn't have gotten a refund. "We mopped your floor...?" Yes, that's part of the hospitality industry. Clean rooms are the bare minimum thing you SHOULD DO as a hotel/motel.
I did see a roach in the first room but didn't stay long enough in the second to spot any but I'll assume they're there. Keep in mind these rooms cost $120 A NIGHT and they're genuinely the most outdated rooms I've seen. I've been to a lot of hotels and motels and this ranks bottom 10% for sure.
I felt uneasy when my dog started to bark in the U-Haul which is indicative of him trying to alert me to something. He never barks unless someone unknown is approaching him or the vehicle. I checked the reviews of the place and so many recent reviews mentioned the theft of items from rooms and vehicles. I'm in a U-Haul with every valuable I own in the back.
So I grab the singular bag I've brought in so far and ask for a refund. This is where it goes very downhill. The owner says no refunds etc etc. Takes the key and walks off. I go sit in the van and wait. A little while later, I approach him asking if I need to process a chargeback with my bank. He said to go ahead and do it. Offered me my deposit back, though, but only after I had to explain basic math to him (60-10=50.) Waited around a little while longer and got my deposit then dipped.
I've stayed in a lot hotels and motels and for the first time ever, I can not recommend this one to anyone. The service, rooms, and general vibes were so off that I actually think you're clinically insane to even consider...
Read moreI would have preferred to sleep in my car rather than lay in a bed not knowing when and if a roach is gonna crawl all over me...I would not recommend this spot to my worst enemy....I was unable to sleep for fear of roaches crawling all over me. After killing about 15 roaches before I even decided to finally lay my head down, I did try and couldn't sleep a wink, because not only were there roaches crawling all around me but there was a pestering fly that was playing tricks with my head.. Everytime it landed on me I swore that it was a roach, so I slapped myself the whole entire night. There was no properly functioning air, so needless to say I sweated all night on top of fighting flies and killing roaches.... It was totally impossible for me to even so much as wash my hands, let a lone my body after spending the entire evening sweating. This is a very inhuman way to conduct business and the service was extremely poor...Right after checking in I discovered that the batteries in the remote control were mismatched and everyone that has operated anything that uses batteries know that u never mix brands or new with old batteries. When I went to the front desk to ask if they could be replaced I also took the time to ask if they could provide me with some sort of bug spray. When I asked this it just so happen that there was a potentional customer who heard me ask for the bug spray and he then asked me if they had bugs, I said yes he asked the clerk how much was there rooms he was told $45.00 dollars. He then asked me what kind of bugs did they have I said roaches and he said he would not pay $45.00 to sleep with roaches and left. The batteries were replaced but no bug spray was provided, where do they do this @???!!!! So far in my life only @ Redwood Inn!!!! Simply sad, and...
Read moreLet me start off by saying, I haven't been to the Redwood Inn Motel since 2006. But I'd like to share a bit of my history when I was a kid.
In the early 2000's, my mother used to work here as a maid and after school I used to hang out here and stay in one of the rooms to chill, watch cable and play video games while waiting to go home. At the time, the owner was an elderly Polish lady by the name of Teresa Koda, and she had a big chihuahua dog named Peso. I remember her being a bit stern, but she would occasionally order us delicious pizza with fresh tomatoes on it.
Around 2005/2006, Teresa was ready to retire and go live with her son down in Texas I believe, can't remember. And I was very dishearten to hear that along the way Peso had gotten ran over... The new management shifted over to the Betancourt family, starting very temporarily with Jezebel and then her uncle (?) Cesar Betancourt.
I remember Jezebel having a son, I think it was Adi or something that sounded like that. Me and him used to hang out in the office and play video games and watch early Youtube videos like Charlie the Unicorn. It was a lot of fun. But all this was short lived when Cesar took ownership, I never met him but after Jezebel left, my mother retired.
Thank you for...
