This 3:30am experience of giving up on a sleepless night was the culinary equivalent of jumping in the mosh pit at a Pantera concert. Life is good. Though I usually trust my initial gut instinct now that I'm older, this time was different. I was greeted with a 'good morning!' by all three smiling faces that were busy tending the eating utensils, the stove, and paperwork of some sort... I told myself that the reason I was the only customer but yet there appeared to be only one, clean table was simply because I had just missed the 2:30am rush... I went for it. Reminiscing how the petite-framed waitress was able to multitask so much and so well both physically and verbally all while keeping her cellphone held to her ear with only her shoulder does still vex my mind... I remember thinking how I hoped I wouldn't have to interrupt her to ask for coffee... I never did. I never had to. She never let me see an empty coffee cup and I never had to ask for a refill even once. I tipped her well. In fact, I'd be hard-pressed not to say that she was probably the best waitress I've ever experienced. And the chef! That truly was the best breakfast I've ever ate. As I remember myself sitting there all alone with my own judgemental mind... My nervous eyes constantly picking up as much as they could from the reflections off the dark windows and with their peripheral; the young man's love for the Asian culture (I'm assuming, because of his samurai-like top knot) --- her, and the stainless steel post that was pierced right through the center of her upper lip, which was only one of her alternative life-style features that had my silly mind guessing she had a poster of Harley Quinn above her bed... It was all vanity. And to some, the cricket that slowly crawled as if suffering an injury from one side of the room to the other; the ants that made a line to the syrup-covered menu on the other table, they might have been bothered by it... But I quickly remember how I currently live in a Jeep and sleep with the windows down, as I save to start my own business, and all the critters I currently have to deal with -- and I remember even further at how far I've come from when I was living in a tent in the woods... Oh, how the critters were so much bigger and ruder then... America today is such an interesting time to be alive and this particular restaurant not only reminded me of that, but also gave me the best service and the best breakfast I've ever had and also the coffee was pure fuel which is why I wrote such a lengthy and weirdly descriptive, 5-star review... Thanks, WH and crew! I...
Read moreAlways enjoy going to waffle House, most of them anyway. This evening I got off work as I do and on my way home I was going to stop at the local waffle House, I proceeded to walk in and take a table that is facing the entry/exit doors, and the waitress said she would be right with me. Take note that there is about 10 to 15 patrons in the establishment. The extremely kind and polite waitress finished helping the other patrons and came over to take my order, and asked to find out what I want and I'm ready. I proceeded to let her know that I'm ready to order and that it was just me sitting here. She then asked me to, find a seat at the bar to allow guests of more than one to take that booth. I then proceeded to tell her that I feel comfortable where I am at and explained that I am able to see the entry and exit doors from where I am sitting, and if I set up the bar, my back is turned, turned to the only entry and exit avenues in the establishment. there is no bar seating that faces any entry/exit doors. She then proceeded to politely ask again for me to move and kindly mentions that she will not be able to take my order until I move to allow guests to occupy that seat. I then asked her again and she politely respects that however, wants me to move even though I've explained my concern. I then proceeded to tell the kind lady thank you for your time. I'm sorry to take up the seat. I will find business elsewhere and told her to have a good evening.
I have never had this issue especially at 12:30 in the morning, at any waffle House establishment. I found this very odd and confusing. I understood where she was coming from however, being warmer military I do have concerns of having my back turned to an entry/exit point. This is honestly a first for me and I hope that this doesn't happen again. This was the first time at this establishment. It is very well maybe my last. I will stick to my regular waffle house locations, even if they are on the other side of town.
Again, I just want to give a very thank you to all of the staff that work there, you are all very professional, polite, and courteous to all of the patrons. I hope do business with this location at some point down the...
Read moreHappy New Year didn't really cut it on my visit to this location. I was having a great day getting back home after a holiday project at a factory. On holidays, when at a restaurant, I routinely tip no less than $20 for any meal. Before I go any further, I was a server during college and as I started a career from the bottom of the ladder up. I know what a good server is suppose to do. (Continuing) A beautiful girl named Chrissy came to serve me. I the very beginning, she was ok. When I bantered qith her and joked, she eluded to having anxiety and that there were too many people at her house last night and today. I found that an odd statement. The meal was good, condiments were offered and the team as a whole (all servers) attended to my coffee and comfort pretty well while my server was busy. Within my order, was a (hold) waffle as a breakfast dessert as I was on a long drive and didn't want to have to stop later for eats. At the end of the meal, I asked for the waffle to be dropped and for the cook not to remove the waffle till it was crispy and to my desire. This was Chrissy: "We're extremely busy and we're not going to be able to do all that!" I immediately cancelled the waffle and prepared to leave. Once again, anxiety was cited and I was told that they were simply too busy. Well WAFFLE HOUSE - my $ is green too! I've been all over this nation and at many WHes. I have NEVER been told that I can't get it the way I ordered it. BK is not the only place that SERVES patrons in a HAVE IT YOUR WAY manner. While I have compassion and empathy for Chrissy, maybe serving isn't something she should be doing in a high pressure table turning restaurant - or maybe not on one of the busiest travel days of the year. Anxiety js a REAL issue, but in this case, it seemed to be used as a crutch and as a way to be a victim of my inability to just 'TAKE IT AS I GIVE IT TO YOU'. That's not how it works with patrons that spend money in an establishment. Part of the competition in the world of work and a Capitalistic society is that you rise to the challenge of what the customer needs...
