The mansion and the rooms are beautiful. It still looks like it did when it opened. Some people might think the décor needs updating but I like it like it is. They don't have coffee in the rooms They have coffee downstairs. No decaf was available because they were out. The breakfast muffins were very hard and inedible. There was no more watermelon by the time we arrived for breakfast, because it was right at 9:30 when they stop serving breakfast, we were not offered any watermelon, although I imagine that those who arrived before us had watermelon. I would have loved some watermelon. You place your muffin and fruit on a small plate, then you go in to your table--it has your name on it--and they ask you what you want in your omelet. While they were cooking the omelet I told my husband it would not surprise me if all they did was slap the omelet on your plate and place it before you. Sure enough, all that was served was the omelet. No potatoes, or toast, or a side dish. Who likes to eat just eggs for breakfast? There could have been chocolate chip muffins, but they were hard and inedible. We were so turned off we took two bites and left. You either had an omelet with nothing served with it--or nothing. We quickly packed and left. We were given the impression while we were there that they have a lot of events, ie, weddings. So were also led to believe--in a teasing way--that we were just in time for breakfast because soon they had to start getting ready for an event. Another person told us they were busy with events. We even arrived while a wedding reception was going on and we couldn't get through the crowd to go to our room until it was over. That was ok, but it sort of set the tone. Events are more important that bnb guests here. I was really mad about the food, though. No common sense was used. They didn't check to see if those muffins were hard, we were not offered any butter. I knew it would be impossible to get salsa or hot sauce so I kept my mouth shut on that. And to present just an omelet on a plate alone, with no side dishes shows lack of...

The Mansion at Eflindale was absolutely gorgeous for our wedding. To start, we booked with the Mansion in January for a September wedding. During that time, I had many questions for Myra as I had lost my notes on numerous occasions. She was very prompt in answering and making sure that everything was set up the way we wanted. The chapel was stunning and it is already decorated with pew bows and florals (for a nominal charge). We used the Dolphin Room for our reception of 40+ guests and people would not stop commenting on how wonderful everything was. The Mansion already had the room decorated with lights and tulle on the ceiling. The in-house caterer provided linens (not a good experience with her, but this review is about the Mansion only). Not enough kind words could be said about Myra. She was absolutely fantastic!! The day of the wedding, I was given one of the rooms in the Mansion to get ready which lead to some awesome photos. The groom was given a room in the church which didn't have the best lighting but it had plenty of room for all the guys. Just know before you book that they don't allow alcohol during the reception, but since we were going with a smaller more intimate reception we didn't care (plus we don't drink anyways). The price is fantastic for everything that you get and Myra herself is worth the...

I stayed for a church related gathering. On main floor. The room was filthy! One of the ladies in our small group I've known for 6 or 7 years never even knew she was azmatic, but the room was so dusty she had to go home and do a breathing treatment . I got rags in kitchen. and scrubbed down all the baseboards. Took sheers outside and shook them out hung back up. She came back, but we had to open the windows . the bath tub was stickie like soap ring hadn't been cleaned in months and l gathered up a golf ball sized wad of long brown hair out of the tub floor and sink . Totally gross. So after that l threw back the covers and l swear it looked as if the bed was not changed. This was a mess, but complimentary because of this church event. So l cleaned it up myself ran and got products...it smelled alot better after l'd cleaned and found vacumn. We were there 2 nights. The building tho and story behind it was amazing. To bad the housekeeping was so awful. Maybe its better now. Its been...

My husband surprised me with a one night stay, and from the moment we pulled into the long driveway, I was in awe. The place was beautiful, both outside and inside. The building is 100+ years old, was kept original with the exception of adding safety measures. The woman, whom nicely greeted us at the door, shared the history of the building, also sharing the details of the pics displayed. She was the sweetest and very forthcoming with information. Each room had its own theme and we were allowed to wander about the house and look at some of them. Our evening spent was in the Rose Suite; 3rd floor. Roses galore...from furniture to decor down to the rug! The room had a peaceful feeling to it, and very quiet. If you appreciate the simple things, want a nice place to relax, get away from the daily busy life, regroup, and don't require the finest, most expensive, materialistic things, you'll absolutely LOVE this place. It had a "Home" feel to it.

Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by Myra, who made me feel like a welcomed guest and not simply another customer to check in. She’s friendly and quite the resource of knowledge regarding the mansions history and the history of Springfield in general. My room was an exciting mix of history and modern amenities (mini fridge, coffee bar, toiletries) and the bed was comfortable (I was SO thankful to have a soft quilt and not the suffocating comforter hotels use!). My only regrets are that my single night stay was too short to enjoy the room during daytime hours, I didn’t have time to explore the property, and I didn’t have more time to visit with Myra. I will be returning with my family for a longer stay, and highly recommend The Mansion at Elfindale for your next Springfield visit!

Great house, very quiet. I marked it down because it is advertised as a bed and breakfast, and I came expecting that. However, breakfast is only catered in on Saturday and Sunday. Price is low because of that (around $130 for the night), but we had a doctor's appointment and found out that we would have to leave early to look for food. Just need to know that up front. And, we did have an unwelcome visitor to our room, which I suspect is expected in a home of that age. But...these guys are my biggest fear.
