I gave this 2 Stars because the guy at the register was friendly and trying to stay on top of things. However the waitress was not someone who needs that type of job. She was not helpful and to just say it. "LAZY". She was told about the chips in my bag and just ignored that they were stale and unacceptable. Yeah well I didn't carry them out the door they were left on the table. I guess since I was charged 35 cents for the sweet sauce I should gave back and asked for a refund. I believe our Togo order was the only thing being worked on in the back but I still got cold stale chips while she was doing nothing except trying to look busy without doing anything. But then there's issue hit my food. Ugh! Before I explain how bad I was disappointed let me say I am 54 years old and this is the place my family used for get togethers diners lunch etc. This is what I used when I ate other places and didn't like it because it was more expensive and tasted bad to me. My father worked there for years as I was growing up and it was the best ace to go. Well today I was so disappointed I won't be returning to spend my money there. In the past I could buy half a burrito enchilada style and could only eat about half of it and waddled out stuffed. A whole one would lasted for 2 days. It was hot piping hot! Chheesyy and plump. Today I'm sad to say my sauce barely covered the burrito well it looked more like smoothed pancake. Like the filling inside was packed down to fit the container. It was about 1/4 in think and 3 in wide I could taste that doughy taste from the tortilla. And someone decided to change the meat flavorings I went from expecting my delicious burrito to Manwhich. My burrito rated like straight up man which from a can. (I hate that stuff) the wonderful sauce that used to be all thick covering the top was a rare commodity. My pancake didn't have enough on it to cover the tortilla taste. And come on guys the whole thing used to be placed in the oven to brown that cheese but I think it was put in microwave but it didn't matter you needed glasses to find the imitation tasting cheese that was replacing the old good stuff. Times are bad but I paid almost 17.00 for something that should have been at least enough but ended up coming home and frying a hamburger. So whoever made the cost cutting decisions they need to be rethought. That was the worst meal I've ever had. Period and I end buy saying taco bell is cheaper and better. Which should tell you sumthing cause I've never like taco bell. In close if you've never been here I would check other options its expensive and you don't get much bang for your buck. And the taste for me left me disgusted. Sorry guys ill be going somewhere else in the future or ill do Chinese or grab a quick burger somewhere I won't be coming back. So much for 50....
Read more“The plates are hot” at the iconic Mexican Villa West! This is the only Mexican Villa location I have tried. The last time I looked at the menu here was 1975. I have not needed to look at the menu since. I have and always will order one meal “The Chico Plate.” I eat here for two reasons the Chico Plate and the hot sauce. The hot sauce, I could drink with a straw. It is hot with wonderful flavors. Take a bite of it on a chip; the endorphins kick in and then regardless of the burn there is no stopping. The Chico Plate is about the same. It is a simple meal. A very nicely spiced ground beef enchilada, beans, and rice. The whole plate is covered with some of the best tasting red sauce of any Mexican restaurant I have ever dined. On top of it all is crisp fresh lettuce and chopped tomatoes. It all works together, to make one of my all-time favorite Mexican meals. Mexican Villa has been in business since 1951. They must have a strong local customer base, because they have expanded across Springfield. It is kind of a cult thing for the locals. It’s a long drive for me, but absolutely essential at least once or twice a year. Is it the best Mexican food in Springfield? Don’t know don’t care! If you are looking for other Mexican restaurants in the area, check out my reviews in my collection "Jalapeno Highway" on Yelp. I've...
Read moreI used to LOVE eating here. With fair prices for amount you received. The last 2 times I have been VERY disappointed. First off it is now right at $18.00 for a burrito enchilada style, and one small bag of chips (to go order). Even the burrito is smaller!! This time the chips I got looked and tasted like they had sat under the warming lamp WAY to long!! I would be embarrassed to serve them and the tomatoes... That's what those are in the attached photo !! I understand everything has gone up but then the product should be the quality or even better than it was before. Soon NO One will want to spend that kind of money for poor quality food, and then what ??? Businesses close, unemployment rises.... Vicious cycle! I for one will NOT be wasting any more of my money at this location for sure. I should have known when I walked in the door and was made to feel like I was more of an inconvenience than someone who was helping pay for their salary or position! Oh and did I mention, this was at 5:30 when everyone would be stopping...
